You're from the same region as Tom Aspinall in the UK? You could probably rival MMA Guru with that impression. Anyway, good content bro. You're one of those natties that don't look it natty at all, so hats off
I'm definitely not your demographic but have to say how much I enjoy your balanced and intelligent content. As a mid 50 post menopausal woman who is healthy and active, but trying to rebalance my fitness to greater muscle as I age, I see so little content I can relate to. Consistent, long term health focused, rather than extreme cut/bulks with no thought to sustainability. Really relatable!
totally agree ....Im same ........56 yr old on HRT former Crossfit junkie now trying to stay strong and lean. Look forward to your videos @JoeDelaneyy they keep me motivated and as a Manc living in Canada I appreciate the deadpan delivery and humour . Keep it up ! :)
Your channel is my main inspiration. 48 yeat old dude, I spent 4 decades not caring about my health or self for that matter. Went sober 2 years ago and started taking fitness seriously a few months after that. I do NOT want to 'bulk' to build muscle, keeping the leanness i've acquired is more important than falling backward. Thanks for showing that there's a path forward, even if it's a slower one.
It's probably not that much slower compared to a more aggressive bulk/cut cycle, consider you put on way more fat that you then have to cut later on. Lean bulking is the way to go for time, lifestyle and health. If I tried to dirty bulk now to gain muscle I'd probably just end up pre-diabetic.
This is Great. I hope Coach Greg uses this as a great example for intermediate and advance lifters. Slow and steady wins the race, and keeps you looking JACKED
First of all, congrats, you made SIGNIFICANT progress in the before and after pics. I would love to see a video on how you go about injury prevention, which is definitely something that is holding me, and probably others, back a lot.
Really love your approach 😸 you really hit the right spot of "Why do you guys have to make life so complicated? Cut the bu****it, keep consistent and stop overthinking". We need more people with your mindset in this "more show than being" world
I could really tell the difference in your shoulders and back. Nice work! Hopefully you'll be dropping some hints soon about what's in store for your Push App for Black Friday next month
Post college, just trying to find the best way to continue to feed my passion for the gym and train at a high level while improving slowly but surely (without putting too much pressure on myself to always do so), and progress in my career and general adult life, these vids hit different now. Appreciate you Joe. Looking incredible brotha!
My boy Looking Juicy AF like always, There was a video of yours where you said you are jealous of someone who just started lifting because of all the gains to be made, I have recently started my 2nd bulk and have started lifting 2.5 years ago. I can relate what you were saying. Time to get to that goal Physique :D
The idea of just keep going and try to get a little better is great. The long game focus that makes it part of your life but not all of your life is what allows success and happiness in.
Totally awesome video and inspirational.. It will be a good video to come back to in Jan 2025. When I want to cut down a bit again and start a lean bulk. Right now I am bulking with too little tracking aka. non and only focusing on protein and carbs. Because I feel like I have really good energy and strength when I am overeating on cake and other non-healthy shit. ^^ So, I'll see how it goes from Jan 25 onwards. Also love that your 'dad voice' is so much different than you 'video voice'. So funny to hear.
This is super timely. I have been maintaining for, truth be told, far too long. I need to push myself to a committed lean bulk. I weighted in 220 lbs at 5'10, down to 165 lbs (~12% body fat). I now have a fear of putting on any weight. I need to get my head into the game.
Great video. Basically, balance and carry on. A guy asked me in the gym the other day..."are you trying to cut or gain muscle?" The only answer I could think of was? "Yes". Haha. Thanks man.
Before and after is great for an experienced lifter. Long shot, but do you have a relationship with primal? I think they should make a bench that allows you to turn your existing landmine into a chest supported t bar row. I dont see anyone else doing this and most home gym owners already have a landmine and maybe some attachments, it would allow you to recreate a popular machine for roughly the cost/space of a fixed bench. Can't really just use a normal bench as most of them have something that runs down the centre and you also have no where to rest the bar.
Slow bulks/gaining is definitely the way I have learned. I think the long-term results are just as good as heavy bulking (maybe better) and it is so much better for your body image and self esteem.
Can totally relate to the lack of sleep with having a small kid. Went through the same experience, quite the blow to one’s training routine but once you manage that you’re basically indestructible! 😁
I've been doing the same sort of thing for a while hopping between a very slow bulk and "maintaining". Ive been getting consistently stronger so that's a good sign that it's working. You look like you leaned out without even intending to. looking great man
You look great Joe and ya it is noticeable... I am old enough to be your dad... 67 and been working out all my life.... gained a bit too much blubber but know how to work it off... well eat it off... while working out... enjoy your humour very much. Keep posting lad.

Yes - it was a few years ago I said I wasn't going to bulk again. I did kind of address/mention that when I changed my mind. I guess part of it is encapsulated in what I said at the end about not really identifying with bulking - that's just what happens when you keep lifting and eat a bit more.
Love how you're stunned by the mirror image of your virile beauty. I think what you're doing is admirable, and it's working! Also, wouldn't mind a little cheeseboard 😅.
This is my plan for January. Finished my cut 2 weeks ago. Will maintain till my photoshoot in December and they just pig out a bit over Christmas. Then SLOW gains. 35 years old this month as well.
Hi Joe! Great video as always, I was wondering what your pre-workout regimen currently is? I'm at a crossroads with what to drink/how much caffeine intake before my workouts. Thank you so much :)
You're looking good and you sound happy about it and, really, that should be enough. But there will come a time when you find out that it's not about getting 'more' as much as not losing what you've already got. Good luck...
3:04 Ive been there. Obsessed with getting ripped worrying about every pound, every vein. That's not a good life. Thank God I stopped that about 7 years ago and now I know I was really SICK.
Hi Joe, would love to hear what you do when you become sick (provided a specimen like you can even catch any form of illness). Any special routines, tricks? Any changes to your diet? Do you keep working out with a moederate cold? Do you sleep more? I feel like there are sooooo many takes on this so it gets kinda confusing. And its not something you can really "test" since I dont catch a cold that often. But if anyone's got it figured out it might be you. Maybe it would be something for a new video idk :) love your content!
I definitely still train with a cold, because that doesn't really affect me physically. Anything more than that (like actual flu, any kind of temperature or extreme lethargy) and I wouldn't train. Don't do anything special, just eat plenty and wait to get better like everyone else. I don't really have the option of sleeping more, because my little boys gets up at 05:30-06:00 whether I like it or not 😄
The most impressive change for me is how you've sculpted your biceps and pecs. Yes your abs are awesome, but the sculpture of your biceps and pecs requires no posing or straining.
I did benefit from some bicep tendinitis virtually clearing up altogether between the 'before' & 'after' clips. So I was definitely able to make some arm gains.
I actually took the same approach with my training lifestyle taking time off the gym 5 times for holiday and eating without tracking to much and have seen more grains in size and strength while maintaining a lean body
Brilliant video as usual 👍🏼 Roughly how many calories do u think should be my maintenance at 174lb BW? My job is sedentary but I train for an hour x6 a week and hardly do any cardio. I’ve currently been going for BW in lb x15, so 2600ish for maintenance?? Noticed more of a body recomp so far as I’d not been training consistently last few months and I’ve been eating 200ish cal deficit but now I’m in a position to build some lean muscle 💪🏼
Nice video and very relatable. I have never been good at gaining weight, until i swapped my low fat quark for high a higher fat alternative (which i eat every night). Just one simple change to my diet and i'm slowly gaining weight... 'bulking' has never been this easy.
20 fucking years omg 😭 It really requires so much patience and consistency. Here I am, only 3 years of lifting, and expecting these results. It's a nice reality check.
Not worth a full video really. I just have to avoid/adapt a few exercises. I can't deadlift anything meaningful, but can manage some hyperextensions without issue. I don't load too much weight through my spine (axially) - max out around 60-80kg depending on the exercise (BSS, OHP, Pendulum squat etc). And the only thing I have to avoid entirely is incline bench, since something to do with the combination of loading & arch really fucks me up.
Been using your app for a few weeks, which is great. Is there a video anywhere to help with setup? I’ve got the same exercises on three consecutive days with the same rep and set ranges.
Great video Joe, debunking a lot of the bullshit out there. I now identify as a working recomp. More sleepless nights with little kids, some protein, lifting some weights and hoping my tendons don’t fall straight out of my joints. Let’s go 💪
Good on you, you did very well, and so very sustainable. Life goes on, just as we all carry on. Though your progress is marginal, it is sustainable. This is also my goal: to keep lifting, not get hurt, carry on with life, and, if possible, gain some muscle/cut some body fat. But I'm not going to kill myself to do this.
Alright, I have a question that's been bothering me, which I thought I'd get answer from the video by how it started but not really. I was 65 kg skinny dude when I started lifting a year ago. I gained quite a bit of muscle (lil bit of fat too) in less than 3 months, my weight went from 65 to 75. I was 75 sharp for like 9/10 months. Then a couple of things started to happen simultaneously. My muscles started to become more defined and developed. My weight started dropping every week and I went from 75 to 71(at present and still fluctuating). Even though my certain muscles have grown and become more defined, I don't feel as big as I used to when I was 75. I certainly don't look as big as before. When I wear shirts that my body used to take most of the space now takes less space. I even got comments like "have you stopped lifting?" (I wear loose clothes so people can only see size and not definition). So I am confused. Am I losing gains? Am I losing fat? What is happening?
