Trust me I feel your pain. Part 3 will be about the computers and how to get them to work and part 4 will be a highly detailed video where I’ll answer any questions. Currently on vacation but will have another video up when I get back.
I’m all for the swap I just wanna say that it’s common and completely normal for one side of the engine to be dirtier than the other under the valve covers due to the pcv system. But if that’s what kickstarted the swap then I’m all for it!
That just goes to tell you how experienced I am in this field. After some test it turns out that just the rings went bad in cylinder 1 but the cylinder wall was still in great shape. It was just enough of an excuse to tell myself that a swap would be the best decision!
Horrible English. But technically you just need the engine, ECU, trans, driveshaft and differential. But if you change the trans from auto to manual you need a BCM, clutch, and dash harness
Depending on which engine you get will determine what else you need. For example I bought an engine from a 2013 camaro so I had to buy a power steering pump and a new 2011 engine wire harness. Since I was converting to manual I also had to get a new BCM, clutch pedal and dash harness.
I am not positive but I believe the chassis is the exact same. I believe ZL1s have coolant lines running to the diff and the diff on a zl1 is bigger and doesnt fit quite right.
I found it on eBay after about a month of searching and decided to pick it up myself because of how expensive shipping cost are and I didnt want to wait 4 weeks for it to be delivered.
I ended up buying the engine and trans together for 11k with 31k miles on ebay. I would hold off LS3 swapping until I figure everything out and then can help you each step of the way, these computers are definitely causing some problems.
I finished with the dash harness and have the interior back together but am having some problems with the ECU accepting the new vin and getting my old key programmed to new BCM. I have part 3 almost done but would live to include the engine starting. Will be out soon tho!
