I forgot to mention: to export your image, go to the File menu > Export > Current Frame as Still

I wish photographers would start talking about darktable and raw therapee, two very competent open source tools to edit raw files.

I used gimp ages back but have heard fantastic things about dark table and raw therapee. You should make a video!

Which do you like? I’m usually only editing 50 files from a shoot.

I am a pro photographer, and I use GIMP and Darktable for all of my editing workflow. GIMP has some *fantastic* plugins that most regular users have no idea even exist. As a Linux user, I was kind of forced into something other than Adobe, and these are just two of the great image editing suites we have available on the platform.

@@tylerdoestech Hi, what plugins do you use for Gimp?

Thank you, a very detailed examination of Dehancer, but I think I will need to watch this video a few times before absorb all it has to offer.

It is intricate so understandable :) It's taken me a couple weeks to feel familiar myself.

Excellent video. This is the longest I have ever spent watching an editing plugin within another software suite!

Thanks for being up for it!! I know I can be aggressively tedious in my nerdy desire to explore these things and it's not everyone shares that same desire or curiosity to go there, and understandably so. But just further evidence that I have found my tribe here :)

I did the Unicode language support workaround but my Lightroom continues to "not respond" so I've never been able to use your trial. I'm on Windows 10. Have you had this reported?

Would love to see you review the Lightroom plugin. I think for most still photographers learning DaVinci and Dehancer together is probably a lot to bite off. This video seems more accurately titled "Dehancer for Resolve" and it would be great to have a companion video "Dehancer for Lightroom". Really amazing effort you've made learning and explaining this just a little too involved for Lightroom junkies.

That totally makes sense and I hear it. I wanted to try something a little off center but may have gone too deep into my nerd hole on this one :)

I agree, I got so much footage and need to learn resolve but it’s just so complicated 😢 I use Luma fusion and then Lightroom for stills, other ways to achieve the film look would def be helpful. I need to find out if the Lightroom plugin works on iPad too… fingers crossed cause I hate using my laptop for anything 😂

i got three recommendations, first use rec 709-A as your output color space, this would hopefully solve your issue with the colors changing after exporting, also use Davinci WG/intermediate as your timeline color space then put dehancer before your output cst and set the source to DVR WG/Intermediate, using dehancer in a larger color space would allow you to make more extreme changes without breaking the image, the third recommendation is using the chromatic adaptation effect for white balance since it acts photometrically and doesn't mess with your blacks or whites
@OneMonthTwoCameras
@OneMonthTwoCameras 2 месяца назад
Oh I just heard about the chromatic adaptation! SO cool. Thank you - these are such helpful tips! Will definitely give this a go. Appreciate the info!

This is too complicated for me. I don’t use any editing software b/c I don’t know how to use it. As a result I’m forced to get it right when taking a photograph. Just like film. Mask On Nurse Marty (Ret)

I use Snapseed, it’s rather as simple or complex as you want. It has presets that you can easily modify. Even retouching a persons face is very easy. If you have tons of files it doesn’t do batch processing. But I use the same preset for all files then make micro adjustments for each file.

Agreed, Snapped is great, free and I use it all the time!

For best results i use an analog camera and film. I know, wild idea. This works only on stills, because video cameras an cinemafilm is extraordinary expensive. But for photos, this is my way to go. 😂
