It's pretty easy to stop them. Just have to ignore playing whack a mole influence of individual cartel controlled states when you can just bring in the military and shut down shell companies. The loss of people also works In your favor with having no unemployment if people are dead

If you are telling the truth thats amazing

There is no hamas path so to speak. Syria and gulf Arab countries have a focus called "start the second intifada" which spawns generic focus tree hamas in gaza, with Israel having an immediate war goal. There is no way to survive as hamas in this scenario, but you can rebuild hamas and conquer Israel by guaranteeing hamas. If you want to play as them you're better off simply playing Palestine and electing them to power or playing in the 2017 start date where they start independent and Israel doesn't have a war goal. But imo if you want to play an anti Israel terrorist organisation, you're better off just playing hezbollah. They are far stronger, they have cores on Lebanon, they have an official alliance with Iran whom periodically sends them stuff, and they have an awesome focus tree where you can basically act like burgundy from TNO. I did experience three big downsides when I played them however. Firstly Lebanon invaded me whilst a puppet of Syria and since you start with one tile it was very impossible for me to hold and Syria wiped out my starting army so I had to puppet iraq so that I could use their army and my Iranian allies army to defeat syria. This is unusual however, it only happened because Syria went nationalist. Usually they withdraw from Lebanon and never attack you and I was beating Lebanon before Syria joined. Secondly iran spams you with military factories which whilst good in theory, in practice it ruins your power output therefore crippling your economy. Lastly the US can form something called the coalition of the willing against Iran, where basically everyone invades Iran.
