Taking a look at How Good Is Your Rank In TEKKEN 8? Online Rank Analysis Givng my opinion on the results then adding my own spin. Source - rb.gy/d6p4oe
Man bruh im telling u.. i got my main to fujin and i think im done its way too damn sweaty and its energy draining.. im fine with staying at fujin it feels like im fighting in evo every match
I’m here stuck at garyu wondering what’s the point anymore I fight the same 3-4 characters that are mashing but quick match with purple ranks and have way more fun?
The ranks are easier this game because you don't get demoted or lose points until yellow. So I would say ranks are kind of inflated up until late purple and blue imo. Especially in comparison to Tekken 7 where ranked was unforgiving.
Also when you get demoted, you have a chance to get promoted right after. In older Tekkens if you get demoted you get set back to the middle of your progression bar. Also if you get promoted, you get extra points for getting a promotion. It was faster to allow a demotion and try to rank back up to the rank you lost than to struggle from borderline demotion all the way up to promo.
I personally miss the old system. It makes green and warroir rank pointless. I think they are just trying to be more forgiving all the way around. Like now how it doesn't show your wins in ranked. I miss seeing that it helped Guage how good your opponent was before the match started. I also miss the lil circles at the bottom of the load screen of your wins losses of your last 10 games. I don't mind going in "blind" I never underestimate anyone but having that knowledge for me was nice. Aside from pluggers ranked is pretty fun tho!
About certain streamers, the ranks maybe skewed because some rage quit (like Dale Wilson) and some boost (also Dale Wilson); seeing some players in action through replays and the Super Ghost System may give you a better idea on how good someone is. That Mighty Ruler may actually be talent enhancement that paid off other jobbers for instance.
@shadowofthenorthstar989 at best. Otherwise he's talent enhancement. That match with TMM was a contest to see who can put who over... and in that regard, Dale put over TMM.
This is a really good video. I've been looking for something like this on MK1 for months. I was ranked 207th as God in MK1 and I wanted to know my percentile. Even reached out to WB... nothing. Nobody knows. I have no way to communicate to normal people what my rank is on MK1..
Weirdly enough garyu is probably the rank where everyone is stuck, maybe it's because of how weird the points behave, if you lose with someone with the same rank you lose 400 pts, but if you win, most of the time you only get 300, sometimes you do get 400 so you basically get even, but then if you win against shinryu, you get only 440 pts, but if you lose it's 400 and sometimes, for whatever random reason you might get 850 pts in a round, I dunno why, but sometimes randomly u get 850 against a shinryu, tenryu you only win 480, but lose always 400, and pluggers don't help much, so often you might be able to get a win against someone the same or above your rank, to get a decent amount of pts, they plug(and it happens very often in the red ranks) so garyu takes way too much time to rank up, in comparison to the other ranks.
As a Shinryu, i actually ended up recently facing a tekken king rank, which I didn't even know was possible in red ranks. Of course I lost, and dropped 440ish. You'd think higher the opponent the lower the hit you'd take on your rank. Like def should've dropped like 100 - 120 at most.
Rank points also depend on your performance in the match itself. No round browns are typically worth more points. Match Win streaks also increase your points. 4 matches won in a row, for example, will most likely yield 700-800 points per win. Etc. I kind of like the system.
@@The_Buff_Guy Are you sure? I mean it makes sense, but when I got those 800 points I'm pretty sure I was in no win streak, and also my performance was kinda on par as my opponent, since we ended on a 1 win for me on the first, and the last 2 battles of the match he won em, all of em we were like 1-3 or 2-3, not a single perfect
The game keeps a track of your winning/loosing streak against people your exact rank and one above and below your rank. For example if you a garyu and you win a set against another garyu . Your current win streak point wise is 2. Now say after that you loose 10 games straight to an orange rank. Then after that you beat another garyu. Your win streak is now 3 and you will gain 800 points even tho you’ve technically fought 14 battles and only won 2 of them
Same goes for loosing streaks… if you played 14 games and you beat 11 people ranked below you but you’ve lost 3 and the 3 people you lost to were your rank. You will loose a ton of pointa
Wow nice stuff. No pluggers along the way? I had a 35 win streak and got plugged on lost my streak to the plug. Now stuck in place I keep getting plugged on 😅 it's so annoying maybe my region im America 1 and every other match a plug making it unplayable and not fun 😂 hope they fix this soon. That's my rant for today my b 😅
I feel like it’s still a mixed bag. I’ve fought mighty rulers who are still just mashing away and have no fundamentals at all. A lot of them probably just got there from fighting players who didn’t know their character’s match up. I’m a mighty ruler myself but I don’t consider myself good. I’ve fought people stuck at shinryu who have excellent game knowledge/movement/punishment. Congrats to all you first tekken purple ranks out there though.
If they are stuck at lower ranks but have good fundamentals, then they probably lack matchup knowledge. Also a lot of people one and done above orange ranks if you are demoted or your promotion is denied. And plugging too on promos.
@@95GrandMarquise Well there’s multiple factors involved with ranking up so don’t feel bad if you don’t have a higher rank. I personally played tekken 6 a lot as a kid (offline) and I played Alisa. Fast forward to T8 thankfully tekken is a legacy game so I remember most of her moves and I also have a few years of fighting game’s experience so that definitely helped. Anyway that’s just my little short story so yeah
Stop sugarcoating everything. It's a horrible developing trend. They are trash, period. But tekken 8 offers so many options to improve. This time, there are no excuses!
@@JunTheDude32 You should grow up and respect other people. And i already know what kind of player you are. You struggle between Eliminator and Garyu and blame everyone else except yourself even tho youre playing S+ tiers characters. Am i right? Yes i am.
@@JunTheDude32there’s a difference between not sugarcoating and being a dick. If you’re a new employee it’s understood that you’re learning the job. Your boss isn’t going to call you trash in the process. Grow tf up.
I am flame ruler atm. I play tekken about twice a week and have come across so far 10 pluggers mainly in the high ranks. I have my set my rank restriction to any as I’m not bothered how many points I earn and it’s nice playing players in all ranks. Some players in lower ranks are better than some in higher ranks.
I can’t believe I deluded myself into thinking I was actually good at this game.. I was a True Tekken God in Tekken 7 but currently at Battle Ruler just about to hit Fujin and every match feels like I’m hanging on for dear life…. I doubt I’ll climb much higher at this rate 😂
Just play Victor. I plateaued at Mighty Ruler with Victor for like 2 weeks before I remembered that d/b+1+2 exists and then I rolled my way from Mighty Ruler to Fujin in 8 hours. 😂 (Tekken God with Negan btw)
I aint scare of none of these pros.. they can get this work like everyone else..Im so tired if yall putting these pros players on a pedestal like i aint got what it takes..
@jdotglenn not even I clearly know when I make mistakes. I constantly downplay myself to a fault I need to change that. Also, this game gets more frustrating the higher rank you get 🤣
Don't play with a new character. Terrible advice. Keep learning your character and learn MUs, start thinking about wiff punishment, block punishment and spacing. Block more and watch what your opponent does, just because it's your turn or it seems like it's your turn you don't have to make it an attack, mix up your options at each different range.
They really need to patch this game so that you can’t use auto combos past the green ranks and make it so that you can either use a heat smash or rage arts once per round.
I only played against 1 person who used them, that was like 10 ranks ago, i'm 23rd now, so I don't think they should change anything, considering it's only a problem for new players.
If anything, they are at a disadvantage. To rely on auto combo commits them to many safe moves that they can't fully control. Def not a problem imo. Surely not for anyone who can at least sidestep and poke properly.
This is my first ever tekken. I picked up Steve and got to vanquisher. After grinding I realised how difficult steve was compared to everyone else. Im gunna put steve in my pocket and make azucena my main. I ACCIDENTALLY ALWAYS pick a low tier character in fighting games. Now... i just wanna enjoy clapping ppl with top tiers 😊
I just bought the game last March 27 and I ain't even playin all the time because too busy and tired from work. Only play at dawn or afternoon during dayoffs which is 2 days every week. Every night or dawn if I ain't that tired and sleepy from work. Now I am a Fujin.
Hey, I hit Green rank last week! I honestly don't know if I'll keep going though since ranked in any competitive game is EXTREMELY stressful and that's not good for my mental health. I would stick to casual matches after hitting Yellow or Red (if a miracle happens)
Congrats on green homie! If you're nervous about ranking def play casual. But if you wanna improve stick with ranking and just don't worry about your rank. Just try to improve!
Im just below the first red rank. Not bad for only playing Tekken since tekken 8 came out. Haven't been a tekken guy since tekken 3 and 8 looked too fun. Had to come back
I’m above average rank (eliminator? Just bellow ganyu” but I haven’t played much online, usually play with purple ranks on private lobby. I might be able to get to red. Doubt I’ll hit purple Auto assist should be banned in rank. Also, I see auto assist and it’s a free win 😂. Deffo not helping anyone learn to play. It’s for casual fun for people that don’t want to learn to play. Partners that don’t play games Friends at a party that get passed the controller and never played before
Man if I see that assist menu pop up I’m playing sweaty AF and abusing things cause I know they don’t know how to counter. Last guy I played used it with King and I spammed grabbed him for 2 rounds then sat in my auto counter stance with Azucena the whole 3rd round. I’m trolling them all cause I know you’re bad and spamming 🤣
I am no where near a good player, and yet I am currently sitting between tekken king and tekken emperor rank. I think there should be 10 more ranks added. The competive best players have been sitting on 30dan for weeks now and can't get passed it.
Love the honest review. Seeing this gives me better ground work to improve my skills as a Victor main climbing ranks, currently at Destroyer level so I hope to play you someday :) - Jido Kami
Just made Fujin last night.. still not that impressed tho sense o made to Ryujin in T7.. So once I get to Bushin, I’ll be back where I belong on my way to Emperor 🔥🐲💪🏾
Not at all! You go too purple rank mashing I guarantee you, all types of demotions real shit! You can’t mash on certain Teryu’s top red rank! You gotta have patience for purple rank str8 up
This is the first time I've tried to climb ranks in Tekken really. I used to only play with my brother and go on player match. I've only played 100 matches in Tekken 8, currently at garyu or shiryu. But I see myself getting to the ruler purple ranks at least. I only play on my off days. Though maybe I would've been higher if I took the rank placement test. Tekken God and above are definitely for people who only play Tekken, whether it's for a living or their only free time hobby. I've always loved tekken, but It's not something I could play everyday for years. I feel like my life would become stagnant in a meaningful sense. Not to mention how stressful the game can get. I salute anyone in Red ranks and above really. It takes a basic understanding of the game to make it that far and maintain. Unless you play Victor, in that case eat dirt.
Same I used to play with my cousin in Tekken 8 spent most time in treasure battles and practice, currently in shinriyu I'm a bit nervous to try and rank up
I look at downplayers as a different sort of motivator. In order to continue to improve, you can't be satisfied with your current position. Anytime someone tries to downplay your own accomplishments, it really should only be looked at as them trying to keep your ego in check. "Sure you may be better than X% of the players, but you're still trash compared to Y". And that's a good forward reaching perspective to have. Keep climbing and Downplayers will have to keep moving the goalposts until they are comparing you to the absolute pros of the game.
im stuck at tenryu, hard for me to get to mighty ruler. If anyone has some tipps check my latest replay. Would be nice if you can tell me what to do better 🙂
say @fightersden i have a video idea. how about the 10 most iconic videogamecharacters of all time. the faces of gaming (scorpion and sub zero can count as 1 ofcourse cause you can't have 1 without the other). i only played mk and tekken so for me its scorpion sub zero and king as some of the most iconic faces i can think off and maybe fulgore or sabrewulf of killer instinct
Learn to relax your mind. It's the advice I give everyone who gets to the purple ranks and up. But also, that's where you need to take a break and lab characters you struggle against. It took me two months to go from combatant to Raijin. But I only ranked twice a week at most. The rest of the time was learning new characters. I'm once again going back to the lab to learn some more characters. The work pays off in the end
It takes a 0.01 percent winrate to get a yellow. Because you cannot lose points. That makes warrior the first rank in the game and trash should be put onto yellow and we go from there.
Got to admire the list. Den's version of the list. Beginner ranks is a jobber/fodder. Green ranks is journey man. Yellow ranks is mid. Orange rank is mid card player. Purple rank is upper mid card player and Tekken God onwards is the main eventer aka top player.
Finally made it to blue. Time to work on all my punishes because the luck is gone. Oh, and to anyone who thinks the placing pros are trash because they don't sit and grind ranked out is absurd. They are playing each other coming up with tech and combos that would shit on your soul. Ask them about their rank when they bring the check home.
You still have to win games. I haven’t played Tekken in 2 decades and I am a casual. Got to green and I was getting my butt kicked. Started working on some fundamental issues and I just made yellow ranks. To my knowledge you can get demoted from yellow so a player isn’t guaranteed to stay there.
I have to disagree. Im in top yellow beating some people in red, in the quick matches lol and losing to those in ranks under. Not everyone is playing ranked. Id say im average but some in red seem to be too. But yup long road ahead of me.
Why you don't always pay attention to their rank per se. Some ppl you wonder how they got to such a rank and other ppl you wonder why they not higher ranks yet lol every fights different
Jin Kazama Ling Xiaoyu Hwoarang Jun Kazama Asuka Kazama Julia Chang Paul Phoenix Marshall Law Zafina Lee Lars and Reina are all my favorite Tekken Characters
That's pretty true. I'm at raijin, and it's practically impossible to find a player with a 2% or lower disconnection rate, now that they've been exposed. And I'm not going to play anyone above 2%. Not worth the time waste for them to guarantee plug.
depend on who you play with tbh, i talk and play a lot with furylima, a fellow french bryan main, who is tekken god, sometimes manage a rank up, then down back to tekken god, i'm trash tho, stuck at the gate to fujin, but lemme tell you, the rank is fine, but depending on your character bro, like, fujin with bryan is HAAAAARD dude, i just tried léo, well, pretty sure i'll get fujin by the end of the month, time to learn MU optimal wall carry, some cheesy phase, and i'll get fujin easy. but now, character like dragunov, lars, jin, feng, lets be honest, if you are BELOW fujin with those, you are the most astral trash there is, reason you never see drag in red/purple, is because the character is so overwhelmingly O MOTHERFUKIN P even after the nerfs to the hatchet and wr2, that you can't possibly stuck in purple, like, you can't. so yeah, rank is cool, but rank with anything else than some braindead flowchart overpowered dumb character only is worth any value to me. like you can go flowhart reina's -8 high crush mid into duck into launch, and one and done literraly EVERYTHING until fujin, same thing with azucena wwr3,2, you can spam that shit and get to fujin... rank will have meaning once all those nonsens moves will get nerfed into the god damn ground, and don't start talking about lars DE3 thats have literally no counterplay, used to have one, realy hard one to top it of, but because "he was guaranted to get hit by rage art after the move, it will now guard jail" great stuff, before you had to guess ssr into duck or ssl for one of his 2 MU, now you can't sidestep, you are jailed, nice addition to that cancer mofo xD that and the homing "i'll dodge 99% of everyone's movelist by jumping over" avalanch grab that is the most moronic bullshit there is, yeah, rank only on fair characters. the other, you can basicly put any of those guys on bryan for 8 month, and they won't even get out of red ranks i swear to god...
