Wow what a explanation thank you sir even I have purchased kia Sonet Htk plus IMT Clear White on 15th august 2022 did not know about this how it’s work and what’s do and don’t even Kia officials Kai salesperson did not know in this much details you are god of automobile sector in RU-vid for me as of now really kudos for doing such nice work subscribing you and sharing it
Really nice video!! Thanks a lot. Nobody really talked about iMT like this. Have a few questions. 1. U explained how the clutch gets disengaged and engaged while starting and stopping. What about when your shifting while driving ? Does the clutch only engage when u move the gear lever? So if it’s in 1st gear and you change to 2nd does the clutch engage after you’ve moved the gear because it should engage before you move the gear right? And after shifting when does the clutch engage? Only when you throttle? 2. You said half clutch thing about creeping is bad. That holds good for all automatic transmission tight? The creep function in every car is bad for the clutch right? But in heavy traffic there’s no other option. But to use the creep function.
Aren't you the same person who's angry with me on the Shumi expose video? 😂 You also shat on the Skoda Kushaq video. You should have ideally also gotten butthurt in this one too as even this one contains a reference to one of your favourites 😊
During a high speed if you want to apply break in IMT, can we change the gear to neutral and then apply break ? Is this a better approach or directly apply the break without think of ur current gear
You NEVER put the car in neutral during braking! Just apply the brakes, let it come down to a complete halt, then thank God that you are alive, and then carry on. Hope this helps 😊
First of all amazing explanation regarding imt ,i have venue sx 2021 imt I id like to know how you came to know that the clutch is partially engaged during creep or just gear engaged with no accelerator.
Thank you so much! 😃 Answer to your question: because that's how the clutch works! If the clutch isn't engaged, you won't move an inch ahead, forget about creeping 😃
innovative info I got from this video and found very useful too, just a question...what will be best practice to follow by driver for this IMT variant to derive best mileage and better engine life too
Hey hi.. nice video tho, just a doubt, how will it do partial disengagement? When i am putting leg on brake, machine should automatically start pushing clutch if reqd. But when i am pressing the accelerator clutch should not function anymore right.. why this concept of disengagement then. I am talking about this car only, sonet htk plus imt
See, it's pretty simple really if we understand how a clutch works. Engagement is gradual in first gear, and I don't know why people forget that. That's why I made this video 😃 Hope it helps!
While changing gears ( upshifting ) , do we have to take our foot off the accelerator pedal, or can I upshift while accelerating, which is better for clutch life
Hi Just about to receive my Sonet iMT but am driving iMT seltos already. So just always had a question in my mind that normally we have this habit of driving with the left hand resting on gear liver. Is it unsafe to do so in iMT keeping clutch engagement and disengagement in mind?
Bahut achhe tarah se aapne samzaya dhanyawaad maine kia carnes li hai aapka video dekhne ke baad muze ab traffiic driving me kya karna chahiye ye samaz aaaya
Hi, thanks for the information..... Just an doubt, if clutch is engaged when the brake pedal is completely pressed and then why we can see few complaints of people saying that transmission gets heated up for people pressing the brakes by putting car in 1st gear in b2b traffic for long time....
Please answer my two questions: 1.As we release the brakes, the vehicle starts to disengage the clutch but it's done fully only when the accelerator is pressed, so we shall always ensure to press the accelerator after releasing the brakes for an efficient functioning?? 2. I have heard that petrol imt models give a poor mileage when compared with a petrol manual option. Is it true? What's the approximate mileage we will get in a sonet petrol imt model?
Thanks for this wonderful video. Dear just tell me one thing, I have noticed a lag between 2nd and 3rd gear i.e. when I shift from 1st to 2nd, I experience a very irritating lag. And the same I experience in 2nd to 3rd. After that it's smooth. What should I do? Sometimes it seems that pickup is not good when there are 4-5 passengers in the car. Should I visit service center? Please advise, I will be grateful. Thanks.
Most welcome, doc! And I would need you to elaborate on the issue because I do not know what speeds are you shifting at, among other things. Can you make a short (under 30-second video) and share it with me on Instagram? Then I will be able to tell whether it's normal or do you need to take it to the service center. And if you are in Delhi/NCR, I will be happy to check your vehicle in person. 😃
Nice video brother quite interesting and informative Kindly arrange to deliver such Information on rollback on uphill and how to move forward without rollback with or without hand break pl
Thank you so much! Will certainly do. In the meantime, watch my video on the same topic (avoiding the vehicle from rolling back) on the Force Gurkha. You apply the same technique om the iMT as well 😃
Hi. Very informative video, thanks. I've driven both manual and automatic transmission for years. On one hand I would love the convenience of an automatic by putting less strain on my knee. On the other hand, get the feeling of shifting gears. But looking at your video I'm getting the feeling this iMT thing might be a hassle. Also after reading the comments, some people are facing some real issues. This is a really great tech, kinda best of both worlds. So should I wait for it to improve and buy a new car new year?
When stopped at a slope and there is risk of car moving backwards if brake is not pressed, that time should we keep the gear in neutral and keep brake pressed or 1st gear and brake pressed?
Sir i have seen your video related to imt transmission. This week i am planning to buy seltos htk+ imt. Is there any problem in this variant? Actually everything depends on driving technique. Please suggest some good tricks to operate imt car to get good mileage. At present I have wagon R LXI from the last 11 years. Plz guide me i am very confused.
Hey brother you have explained very well and indepth, I am going to buy 2nd hand venue imt I just want to know is this technology repairable easily or need to change whole transmission if any issue. Thankyou
Stuck? Like how? Can you share that link with me? It didn't happen in my test unit, and it didn't happen in my friend's car. But I shall stick check if you share that link with me on Instagram 😃
Hi, Very informative video. However I own Hyunday venue sx imt and today I was stranded in middle of the road as mygear got stuck in Neutral and was not able shift gear. I had ti push the car to safe side.
What about Hill Hold Assist because in bumper to bumper traffic on bridge many cars are moving to back and it's Very stressfull to driving in upward direction..... please explain... Thanks a Lot!! 🙏🏻💐
Is there a certain RPM level when I should change gears? I do release accelerator before changing gears but the shift is not as smooth and required a little effort sometimes. I have just purchased a new Sonet, so kindly help!
@@shubhamagarwal3188 okay, the reason I asked: had you been in the NCR, I would have helped you in person. But no worries, let me see how I can still make your life easy with your new purchase. The short answer is, no, the smoothness of the gearshifts has nothing to do with rpm. For example, even at standstill, with your foot on the brake and off the accelerator, you can engage ALL gears and the lever smoothness would not change a bit. Does that answer your question? Or did you mean something else when you said "the shift isn't smooth?" 😃
@@RealAutoReviews That is very kind of you. Thank you. However yes I meant that the lever shift is not very smooth when I am downshifting or upshifting based on my speed. With manual transmissions it used to be smooth because you just press clutch and then change gears but here i do not know when the clutch gets pressed so while shifting gears it is not always smooth. I just want to be sure its not me making a mistake somewhere.
@@shubhamagarwal3188 you are in good stead if you've driven proper manuals! So don't worry, you aren't doing anything wrong; just drive it like regular manual. Please come back here after you complete around 500 km, and let me know if the shift lever action has smoothened a bit or not 😃
Hello sir, great explanation of imt. Very informative. I have question. In case of driving in 6th gear and i want release the gear to neutral (without any braking) and coast along. Is it possible!? And if it is possible, is it good for longevity of imt.
I have a question. What happens when you are on Reverse gear or on 1st gear and you switch off the engine by mistake. The gear will go on a lock but how would you start the engine, Since its not on a gear.
nice explanation, I want to know can we shift from 3/4/5/6th gear to 1st directly like sports bike(Slipper Clutch Technology). I mean at 50kmph. I am asking because iMT uses rev matching during downshift.
Oh no, you should NOT brother. Motorcycles use sequential transmission: you can't shift to first directly from 6th! You will have to go 5-4-3-2 on a bike! In a manual or IMT, you can directly to 1st but you should NEVER do that, or else you will cause a lot of damage to your transmission and engine. In fact, even on a bike you won't go down from 6th to 1st, but even if you do, it will be in a scenario where you are braking hard already, and then the slipper mechanism takes care of the remaining difference. Otherwise, you WILL damage your GB and engine in a bike as well. You will crash too. Even in a race, you will mostly come down to 2nd and not 1st from sixth! Hope this helps 😃
One question, i have a habit to keep my hand on the gear knob while driving. Now with that sensor being there, will it detect my hand as an intent to change gear and will engage the clutch??
No. However, you shouldn't be keeping your hand on the lever for another reason which I have explained several times to people here in the comments section. Check it out 😊
@real auto reviews ..After a drive of chandigarh to shimla..when almost reached the location..error displayed as transmission heated up stop the engine..and a strong smell also came..this is the first time i faced this issue..any suggestions or feedback pls
Great explanation. But it is mentioned in the sun visor of Sonet iMT that "Avoid changing gears while pressing brake pedal". In this video, you are changing gear while pressing brake pedal. Wont it hamper the transmission? Please explain the mechanism if known to you.
Glad to help! Also, someone asked the same question and I did explain to him the reason behind the warning. Please scan the comments and you shall find the answer 😃
Very good explanation!! When driving in bumper to bumper traffic, my understanding is that when the car stalls, it would be good to move to neutral. When the car moves, then only move to 1st gear and press accelerator. Is this right?
If you are on a very steep slope in 1st gear, whats the maximum slip you can get? Will the clutch allow the engine to rev up to 4000 rpm also if needed? Or will the vehicle just stay in 1 place without moving. Or if you are badly stuck in an off-road situation. Also is there preset rev limit the system follows above which it will not slip the clutch eg no slip more than 2500rpm or some thing is it fully flexible? (more applicable for less powerful cars I know). Because 1 advantage of manuals is that you can really multiply engine power substantially for short periods like that.
Actually the car doesn't stall at all. You can just release the brake in the first or second gear, even without the accelerator and it crawls at a slow speed , and this is very helpful in bumper to bumper traffic.
In ideal circumstances, it should last as long as the clutch of a regular manual. However, since we can't have the ideal circumstances, expect a bit less life than its fully manual counterpart 😃
@@rameshlal7424 well, no, because you don't have to spend money to "maintain" these parts. However, if, say, in the rare event of any of these parts failing, you would not only be stranded, but would also have to bear the cost of new parts. Whereas a fully manual gearbox has never failed on me in my over two and a half decades of driving. But I also haven't heard of anyone being stranded because his automatic's TCU/actuator/sensor conked off. So you don't have to be worried about it. But, since your question is whether a conventional manual is better economically and also more reliable than these new fads, the answer is an absolute YES! Hope this helps! 😃
The manual mode of AMT just holds on to each gear a little longer, that's it. It will upshift automatically near the redline if you fail to do so. The iMT won't. You WILL have to shift gears yourself in an IMT. Hope this answers your question 😃
@@RealAutoReviews Thank you. Since I use AMT manual mode a lot, if the RPM is above 2000 then shifting is possible. If I use pedal brakes when coming to stop, it downshifts easilt. Only time I downshift is when I do inclined driving else car will jerk completely.
Planning to buy seltos turbo as am a driving enthusiast want performance,bt living in delhi its my secondary car for my family purpose nd for office purpose i use hatcback .... Well explained sir, mera querry hai imt diesel me jo mai liya hu, display 1700rpm pe gear shift karne bolta hai, kya ye sahi ya 2000rpm tak le chalu har gear shifting please reply kijiye - Gopalsingh Mumbai
Are you sure that clutch are partially engaged once you release break completely. Can you share the source of information with me since this sounds so illogical ? From what i know if you release brakes partially then your clutch is semi engaged which can lead to heating issues.
Like I replied to your comment on the review video as well, logically it won't engage fully in stop and go situations. It's sheer common sense. Applies to all iMTs, AMTs, and DCTs. Only a CVT and Torque Converter can be used as true automatics, because that's what they are..The others are almost manual gearboxes, sans the clutch pedal.
