What I found from wiki is akshay patra(sanskrit) is translated to "inexhaustible vessel", an object from ancient hindu text given by sun god surya to yudhistira. This vessel held a never ending supply of food to the pandavas( the mahabharat guys). I just donated 2000 dollars. Keep up the good work. Respect from US.

There is a vicious media campaign going on the last five years to discredit the current nationalist government. These are the ones magnifying and sensationalizing crimes in India. I'm happy to see this video, I grew up eating this in my school! My parents sent me to school so that I could hav atleast one square meal a day!! Now I'm doing my PhD in mathematics! I donated 80$ which is more then I could afford rn but I eat 3 meals a day and most of these kids get only 1 meal a day. I could miss 4-5 meals for these kids . I'm glad Akshaya Patra is doing this for these kids and I hope they keep doing so for many years to come Also thank you Sonny for using your platform to introduce us to these unsung heroes.

i love what Akshaya patra does for poor children boys and girls who cannot afford to eat a good nutritious meal. i have donated $ 2500 and now donate monthly from my paycheck........but all that i do is not anywhere close to what the organization does .........they are hare Rama hare Krishna foundation and they do immense work for the poor and the hungry little ones.

Im doing my degree in medicine and my roomate said he went to one of those schools. The mid day free meal program helped a lot of underprivileged kids to stay in school without dropping out to look for jobs in sweat shops and factories. Thanks alot for covering this ♥️

Its funny I am from the U.S. people complain about our school food. Granted its not the healthiest, this is so amazing. Either way I still miss the crappy pizza, and spagetti from my elementary school. So lucky, to just have food. This is awesome INDIA!
@@popflorals it is free, if your household income is low enough, or half off. Even then I think it only costed 90 cents in the 90s, my father had to pay but it wasn't much. In summer the schools opened the cafeteria for breakfast and lunch, and that was free for all kids. I live in texas, this might not be the case all over the u.s.

Plus it was not free it has price on it through the process of donations, making money to fund this kind of activity so totally not free in term of free because someone will always pay the price.. its free to the kids its a donation from someone.. not hating this system but it wont work in the states. Many people will sue, complain to food regulators in cities or basically not donate enough to run it.

@@abcd-sx4vs The food they served was nutritious. Khichdi is a porridge made from lentils and rice, lentils are a great source of plant protein, rice is a good source of carbs. Also, it's common for Indian lunches to not include bread, and as they said, the menu changes every day to include a wide variety of food

Never had Indian food until about a year ago. I live in Canada and many of them have immigrated here. Indian food smells fantastic and tastes amazing not to mention they are really decent people.
I live pretty close to one of the food manufacturing places and lemme tell you this place is really amazing. I donate about 1500 USD (about 1.2 lakh Indian rupees) a year.

America does the same with school lunches, here in Yakima, in most of Washington State actually, breakfast, and weekend and summer meals as well. I wish we had this though. Cook kitchens would lower the costs to a more manageable cost. Then sales tax would be less

If you really want to know about any country I have one advise for you. Stay away from the media. From personal experience, the media and news is just a business which wants to make money from views and for some reason humans crave for negativity. So yeah
All media world over have an agenda now. In India the current trend is to oppose the BJP government, for which they get funded well. The news they peddle is always dark and negative. However, anyone travelling in India will be pleasantly surprised that its anything but negative.
