When India was about to be partitioned, one group of Muslims was trying to stop it. Why didn't the succeed? Well, it has something to do with a political dynamic that continues till today.

Can you also make a video on almost non-existent presence of Dalit politics in North East. As Dalit politics was actually something which was started to fight the hegemony of certain powerful communities over other. I feel North East has also been exploited a lot after arrival of foreign people into these states.

Congress was principly opposed to separate electorate. It was reason for their disagreement with Ambedkar and Jinnah too. One of main of Jinnah's 14 point was a separate electorate.

@@maaz87 I am opposed to it, specially on basis of religion, as I also disagree with two nation theory. Separate electorate only for hindus and muslim can only be argued on assumption that all hindu and all muslims are one people. As many pasmanda activities note, lower caste muslim have more in common with lower caste of other religions than with upper caste muslims. With intersectionality of identities I think common electorate is only feasible option. Although I am sympathetic to separate electorate just for SC/ST as that identity is so much more poignant.

Once chomsky said-- "The smart way to keep people passive and obedient is to strictly limit the spectrum of acceptable opinion, but allow very lively debate within that spectrum - even encourage the more critical and dissident views." This is what the congress(and "left") and BJP are doing with the indian national politics. The whole politics is centred around UPPER CASTE BRAHMINICAL HINDUS VS UPPER CASTE ISLAMIST MUSLIMS. BOTH of these communities form a minority but they're successful into fooling whole india into their madness and conflict. There's substantially no mention of caste based oppression within both the religion (which is ultimately originated from brahminical hindu structures.)

In Pakistan most of the Muslims have upper cast Hindu surnames . I agree with some parts that Muslims though have changed their religion but still kept their caste which is very very sad.

Is an inference to be drawn here on the lines of - when partition happened, the Muslims who did migrate were mostly the ones who supported the ML i.e. the upper class ones (with their social capital). Therefore keeping the community which stayed behind disproportionately represented. A further follow up question would be - what's the analogous situation of Muslims in Pakistan or Bangladesh today given these transitions/migrations leading to a skew

The invisibilisation of caste is arguably worse in Pakistan. I think you could have used class to come to a much better analysis of the Muslim community. Caste although important does not fully explain the divisions in the Muslim community. The practice of superstitious bigotry like considering people untouchable and such does not exist among Muslims but there is material discrimination based on economical standing of members. Caste here is an origin point that explains which families are rich or poor and therefore their social power and standing but theoretically any family that might successfully rise economically would see a rise in social standing also. I.e The real point of contention between individuals in the Muslim community, especially today is class based and not caste based although caste is the reason why some had wealth and others didn't in the first place.

Hey, u need to educate yourself a little on the subject. Caste explain if not "fully" then at least substantially the basis of divisions among Muslim. Just few examples: Endogamy- is a way more strictly practiced in Northern Indian muslim(I come from N. India and study muslim in N. India) than Hindus. Marriage between Dalit and Brahmin (at least love marriage) continue to take place but a Syed marriage wid Muslim lower caste is inconceivable. Lower caste Muslim have negligible presence in the key positions of public spheres. What is called"muslim greivance " is actually the greivance of Pasmanda. But Ashraf leadership articulate it as "muslim greivance". Hierarchy, discrimination, exclusion among muslim based on caste is a fact.

Jogendranath Mandal was first Law minister of Pakistan. He was a Dalit leader who was working with Ambedkar. Unfortunately Pakistanis did not keep their promise of giving safe haven to Dalits and he had to flee Pakistan to come back to India. In fact a lot of Dalits were beaten up by Pakistani Muslims. Poor chap did not get any citizenship until he died.

According to the Hadith, only a member of the Quraysh tribe (to which Mohammed belonged) could be the Islamic caliph. This is a sharp contradiction to the carols of ‘equality between believers’ the Qur’an brags of in its verses. Don't twist the facts. There is no caste system in Hindu scriptures. There is only varna based on what you do or capable of which is even today is true anywhere in the world. Society has created its own caste system. Please don't depict wrongly.

See today 70% is about having more money and 20% is caste stigma. If you have more money everyone will forget your caste and flock around you. Second we must see that when EWS was declared the ews candidates were getting lower marks than OBC's in many exams and in some cases less than SC's. exactly. caste doesn’t exist in modern India, you can be Dalit but if your a millionaire people love you and want to be around you. this is not a problem unique to India, rich people in other countries also rule over the poorer people. by saying the word ‘caste’ he makes it seem unique to India, but it’s not. social hierarchy exists everywhere, especially in a capitalist society.

In our generation things will change for better and discrimination will decrease and in many pockets completely absent.

What decade back oppressors? Caste discrimination is openly practiced this day and age, be it rural India or Urban. People refuse to rent out houses to dalits while village settlements are still designed along the caste lines, honour killings are still a thing, there are caste atrocities every month, manual scavenging is a reality. Do you live under a rock?

Remove caste and religion from every govt document, caste system will be finish in 25 to 30 years only. Our society is already so integrated, In pvt companies people from all caste and religion do hard work and progress according to their merits. Only Merit matters.
