none of them would’ve ever played for ireland realistically. even grealish and rice, they’re like 10% irish, they were always going to play for england at the senior level
@@Get_em_gone_888it's different situation as french African descent are sons of immigrants. Which means they are at least 1st or second generation that born in France. And still many of them choose to play for African national teams mainly because they can't get a spot on France
Crazy how the Irish National team was not a proud for Rice and Grealish but only a way to be able to play with a national team because England didn't want them😓
@mnd7381 hes saying Grealish and Rice only played for Ireland so that they'd get noticed by England and then switch to England. Saying they didnt choose to play for Ireland due to Irish pride, but rather as a good career move for them
@@mnd7381lol I think he is trying to say that Rice and Grealish may not have taken much pride in playing for Ireland (since England didn’t want them at the time) but instead they played for Ireland just so they could play on a national team
every single english player in here was produced IN england, born in england and either had a irish parent/ grandparent like most english people (including me) or picked ireland for game time to increase chances of being a pro
@@killiemuckenno it isn't. That's Ireland taken advantage of the eligibility rules. If they pick two English lads who've come through the English academy system but can play for Ireland because of a grandparent, Ireland shouldn't be shocked if those players decide they are probably better off playing for England.
@@attackpatterndelta8949 you have a very good point there, but what I'd say in response is would an English player like Grealish or Rice or Kane etc, be worth as much as they are today if they chose Ireland, take Kevin Kilbane as an example, plus most countries take advantage of the eligibility rules, including England who tried to get a bunch of players in the mid 2000s
@@johnwick7583Irish people witness their golden era of players get fumbled and destroyed by a single hand of a french guy in 2009. Luck is not in Ireland.
Well, if the GAA were not as popular as it is, Soccer would probably a lot more popular with more promising talents playing it, insteqd of traditional Irish sports.
As an Irish man this pains me. Football is the 3rd biggest sport, and could become 4th soon. The head of our football organisation was extremely corrupt for years (it is getting better now). Grealish and Rice using our system for themselves and preventing Irish players potential still hurts. However we have a young team full of potential, Evan Ferguson, Natan Collins,Dara O'Shea, Bazunu and Ogbene are all young and will play in the premier league next year. Unfortunately we have no funding to get a proper manager.
The thing is though is all these players are English, I meet the requirements to play for Ireland ( except for the footballing ability) but I’m English so if they really want to progress they should stop going after Englishmen with an Irish grandparent and focus on actual Irish lads with talent.
Ultimately, if you’re lamenting ringers who didn’t sign up it means you’re not producing good enough players domestically. Premier League clubs’ academies barely give a toss about developing English players. They care even less about developing English players with Irish grannies
@@Fiagolol what a joke none of those players is Irish all born and raised in England and most parts of if their family is English aswell. Stop the banter . Gube back musiala hes more English than German. Leroy sane has a french dad dies that make him french ??
It is a weird one considering for example Rice was born and raised in England. So it seems obvious he would eventually play for England. I do get the point about him and Grealish starting out at Irelands team and then moving across
Nice video. I actually find it sad for Ireland as they invested in some of those players while they were playing for their youth teams. I know sometimes it can be difficult for a player to choose which national team to play for, but anticipating decisions could be a measure to protect smaller nations in football
Bit of a misrepresentation. Theyre english, born raised, trained, and have english parents. To suggest theyre irish is ridiculous they chose the irish youth teams as a way to get international game time until they were good enough for england
you'd find a lot of the good players actually have relatives who live there but were born in england, Kane, Bellingham, Rice Phillips simply dont have Irish accents and weren't born there
Tbf most of these guys are just not Irish. Kane for example could hardly be described as Irish and he probably doesn't feel much of a connection with the country
This makes me think of the movie “ wind that shakes the Barley”, Irelands struggle for independence form the British. Growing up it was one of my favourites…
@@Fiago learn your own history first what you did in ww2 Dont forget that all the players you named are born and raised in england . Talk about Germany stealing jamal musiala
@@randomuruk7230 Iv no sympathy for rebel Irish who move to England or anywhere in the commonwealth. Also , youse did the laundries all on your own. The Irish state took no care of its citizens and actually preferred them leaving. Gotcha Mo chara
Firstly none were born in Ireland, they would have been called up to England when England felt they were ready. Ireland have a history of taking naive young English talent with small percentages of Irish ancestry before England call them up because they know these young kids don’t say no. Ireland a few years ago had over 6 English born players among Scottish.
actually it works out better for the players Declan rice plan was to go to Ireland to get into the english team because he didn't think he would get signed up for England.
Lionel Messi has 3% Italian, that means he’s not Argentine. Grealish, Rice have a small amount of Irish ancestry, born in England, but suddenly they aren’t English. I wouldn’t see you calling a black English born player not English because he has African ancestry.
Small percent? Have you not seen their last names?😂😂 they’re genetically Irish. Not British. And ironic because all the non native Irish players like Michael obefemi get heavily criticised because they have African genetics. Yet they were born and raised in Ireland and have Irish accents. So it’s okay for British players to be non native but not french or Irish? All the great British sportsman are Irish genetically. Owen Farrell Tyson fury Harry Kane Not a single Anglo saxon name 😂😂 all Gaelic. It’s always one rule for the Brits and another for everyone else. No genetic Brits on the team 😂😂 Football isn’t a big sport in Ireland though. They mostly play their own sports. But even at rugby they’re the best in the world. I know they didn’t win the World Cup, but they beat the winners and have lost 1 game in 17 games or something crazy.
For every dumb and ignorant person in the comments, there’s a lot. None of these players are Irish, and they certainly aren’t of Irish origin. From your logic, if you have a tiny percentage of Irish, that makes you Irish. You could be born in a country, parents born in the country, yet you’re still not English? 🤣 that means Lionel Messi isn’t Argentine because he’s got 3% Italian.
So your logic is your logic but most UK players played for Ireland true their parents or grandparents not 3% of any decent you choose your country not where your from
Everyone knows about Ireland. There are millions around the world of Irish decent and their have even been US presidents that had Irish heritage... Stop being so insecure
I wish we really had this team, but players like Sinclair Armstrong and Sam Curtis from the u21s give us hope that an amazing senior team is on the way.
Basically, that was the Irish team of the late 1980s and early 1990s. A lot of guys with somewhat tenuous connections to Ireland. In 1993 they were at number 6 on the FIFA world rankings.
@@R7BY-0Mate don't be. They only have like 1 or 2 Irish Grandparents. Most of them have English descent & were born in England. Even Bellingham has English descent. Bellingham's Grandmother is Irish but his Grandfather is English.
keep in mind most of these players only have irish descent and didnt actually grow up in ireland. it isnt fair to believe that they should play for ireland when they are english and spent their whole life there
Love you Fiago lad, cheers for the Ireland video too Edit: finished the video and take back what I said before, I really am fuming fs, then I remembered Thierry Henry robbing us of WC in the 00's
Nake a video who could llay for England you would find kevin de bruyne (English mum) amd Erling haaland (born in England) same goes for most olayers who play for wales ,scottland ,Ireland ,canada , Australia and even the US
Well even Joe Biden is Irish apparently despite his parents and 3 other generations of his great great grandparents all being born and grew up in America when the hell was he ever Irish
I’m Irish and I’ve seen this video 3 times and it’s so sad to think we could have had all them we would be in every World Cup but now we probably won’t be for another 20 or so years
