How is 2022 Starboard Lima Carbon to paddle? Short Review. Mackmyra Paddle Boarding Adventure

We took our boards to Mackmyra. I got my new paddle just in time for my birthday. So it was both a birthday paddle and test of my new Starboard Lima Carbon Prepeg 29mm. Weights only 366g and is the lightest paddle I ever have had. My first carbon paddle was 461g.

Sup River Life is a vlog with Stand Up Paddle boarding life. We are Erika and Dan-Erik Westerlind, a married couple from Sweden. For us SUP means happiness, it´s, relaxation, recreation and recovery, so wounderful to paddle Most of the time we take our paddle boards in our backyard, the river Jädraån. We also like to exploring other swedish water and experience short touring adventures with our isup race boards. In the future we hope to tour longer, do expedition and wild camping with our paddle board. We vlog / blog with our stand up paddleboards. Sometimes we also do test and tips. It not easy to paddle and handle the camera while paddling, but we do our best to be a vlogger / blogger and paddler.

Sup River Life är en vlogg med ståpaddling. Vi är Erika och Dan-Erik Westerlind, ett gift par som bor i Sandviken. För oss betyder sup lycka, det är avkoppling, rekreation och återhämtning, så underbart att paddla! Oftast tar vi våra paddelbrädor till vår baksida, Jädraån. Vi gillar också att utforska andra vatten och uppleva korta turer, äventyr med våra uppblåsbara racingbrädor. I framtiden hoppas vi kunna längre turer, expedition och campa med vår paddelbräda. I love my 3pc tiki tech Lima. Love the easy water release and so smooth to paddle. And when i want to fitness paddle you can really rap up some speed. We stick to 3pc because we travel a lot Grattis på födelsedagen!!

After two times a problem of water which remained inside the paddle blade at the root of the shaft my Starboard shop Seaman Sport here in Phuket refunded my 4800 thb on the amount of 5800 thb I spent 3 months before for a Large 2 pieces adjustable "normal " carbone Lima ,weight 610 gr. Starboard finally agreed to tell 30 per cent of the owners of 2022 adjustable Lima got this issue. Then I added 7200 thb to get the Pre Preg Lima. The experience of the adjustable gave me a fair idea of my ideal length (195cm, I am 179 cm) for my way of paddling. I decided to shift from the size L to M and get the one element paddle with the oval shaft rigidity 40 . I noticed immediately the stiffness 40 was higher on a fixed shaft than the rigidity 35 you get on any adjustable Lima. I think the adjustable Lima 35 stiffness egals a 45 stiffness on a fixed shaft. here is how to calculate your ideal blade surface: your weight in pounds X 0,25 + 45 = size in square inches of your ideal blade example: my weight 68,5 kg X 0,25 = 17,125 kg = 37,75 pounds 37,75 + 45 =82,75 square inches= 533,86 cm² . my choice is then the Starboard Lima M= 534 cm²). The weight of the Lima pre preg M in the total length of 219 cm oval shaft is 404 gr. At 195 cm the weight of my paddle is about 390 gr ( sorry I havent a precision scale) You never have regret when you buy the best equipment available. but getting the adjustable shaft was a necessary step to know which size I needed for a fixed shaft.

🤙That wasn't good with production problem, good that they took back the paddle, a fixed is really good to have. You pay lite more than double of what you paid in Sweden for the paddle. Tanks for the review/info and the calculation on the blade is very handy to have! 🤗

I think starboard says 400g, but then I cut the shaft to my length it became 366g!

Why Lima and not Enduro?

Because I think Lima is better for paddling longer. Easier on my wrists.

The Enduro has a nicer exit due to its tear drop shape but I also thinh the Lima offers a better instant grip in the water at the catch. Enduro would be perfect for a more versatile use: surf and touring. The Lima seems better for distance and race paddling.
