Nice to see someone riding for the joy of the ride, rather than a race to the Hospital.

Target fixation is real when it comes to twisties. Just did that twice last week. Was my first time heading up to Fraser Hill. Twisties were 90 degree or more either uphill or downhill. Scraped the floorboards a couple of times and I'm riding on 16" apes. Awesome vid btw, looking forward for the next one

It is weird when target fixation happens... its like a trance and when you realize it your have to quickly snap out of it.

This video was refreshing! I thoroughly enjoyed this video as a nobody on the fence, I don't even own one, just because I can walk into a Harley dealership and buy whatever I want doesn't mean I'm comfortable doing that! Motorcycles even after passing the MSF are terrifying to me, and I fly private aircraft. Not the same, the noise, the aspect of speed on a motorcycle going let's say 50 MPH on the ground to an airplane going 120 groundspeed at 5 thousand feet are not the same!
@CageFreeMoto
@CageFreeMoto 2 года назад
Glad you enjoyed the video! If you are planning on riding take it slow. maybe take a few more classes where motorcycles are offered and you can try different kinds. I would recommend a used motorcycle that you find could be manageable for you and then you will see how much or often you would ride. With that experience you could then pick a newer or bigger motorcycle if you feel you need it to fit your riding needs. Take it slow, stay safe and be well my friend.

Throw some bottles of water into the saddlebags, it takes 2 minutes to stop, have a drink and be on your way again. Camel bags are for hikers not so much for bikers, but that's only my opinion. Like your Kawa 900 LT and the turns.

You probably heard this in your MSF class, but on those right hand curves that are pretty blind, stay nearer the center line as you enter the apex. That allows you to see further down the road and through the curve. That split second of sight may be the difference of seeing that big rock, deer, or stalled vehicle. This video is three years old, now, so you're probably nailing those curves by now. ;-)
@CageFreeMoto
@CageFreeMoto Месяц назад
Thank you for the tip! You are absolutely right, and I use that approach to plan my line on curves, along with trail braking. That said, I am human and make mistakes, so I greatly appreciate your advice. Please keep them coming! Thanks for watching, take care, and stay safe!

I loved the Vulcan 900 and wish I held on to it. I bought it with 4k and sold it with just under 8k. Just after I paid for a full service, added large bags along with upgraded saddlemen seat. @@CageFreeMoto Thanks, Wow! You sound kinda like me with my used bike, I needed a car really bad , and I didn't have enough money so I ended up trading my bike and with some money down too. The problem was that I thought that I would keep the bike for some more years, but life can throw you some sour lemons. I just had installed a new starter, 2 new tire tubes and tires, an oil change, etc. The guy at the dealership (mechanic) saw my bike and said I want that bike , sake it to me! That really hurt me, to get rid of it. That's why this time I'm buying a new one and keeping it and if I ever have to sell it, I will do it privately and msje most of my money back. These bikes are guaranteed to sale.

I took my 2013 Vulcan 900 Custom into the twisties in the 3 Sisters ride here in Texas. One of the top 10 rides in the country. Scraped some crazy pegs along the way and had to constantly wait for my buddy in his HD Street Glide. Can the Vulcan handle the turns? Hell yes. It was tons of fun and it definitely outperformed the Street Glide. If anyone is on the fence about a Vulcan, don't. This is an overlooked, high achiever. I just hope these sort of bikes continue to fly under the radar so we all can get those sweet deals on them. I got mine used with only 6500 miles and paid only $4K for her.

Congrats! I actually practiced in my neighborhood for a few days before I ventured out. Then local streets, twists and freeways were last for me. Sometime I would get on the freeway and off soon the first or second off ramp just for practice. I rode alone (and still do pretty much) so no one to impress and focused on me and the skills needed. Stay safe out there!

Nice vid men I have a question how hard is the travel on the rear and front and how tall and heavy are you I'm 6'1 230 lbs with a 32 inseam looking at the same bike to purchase but allot of the dealerships in my area don't allow test drive
@CageFreeMoto
@CageFreeMoto Год назад
I am close to 300 :( and the Vulcan never lacked power for me. I am 5'10 32 inseam and I was comfortable. I never had a passenger on the Vulcan but maybe my weight may help on the power of the Vulcan. It's a shame that you are not allowed to test ride. Many you can rent one, twisted roads is an app that people rent out their motorcycles.
