China is no longer one of the cheapest places to produce garments. The minimum monthly wage in the country far exceeds that of countries like Bangladesh, India and Cambodia, places that are attracting more and more factories. How is Shantou's underwear industry dealing with rising labor costs?

What is wrong with you? It's not illegal for under 18 teens to work anyways if it's not forced. Many people have to start work early anyways because of lack of opportunities.

@@cuzolivia2401 Child labor is a problem when it's forced, but seeing that so many younger folks have less opportunities, jobs for teenagers provide them with an avenue to bring themselves out of poverty. It's quite an absurd Western idea that teens should not be allowed to work.

Bring in piece - work rates and make them lucrative enough to make your workers stay on after the year. By introducing piece - work, they can earn more money the harder they work, therefore, increasing productivity.

oh my god I feel so sad for that 25 yr old girl who works more than 12 hrs a day and has only 2 days off in a month this is slavery and sadly I went through my wardrobe and realised that all my clthes were basically made in China or Bangladesh I live in Brazil and shop at stores like Renner C&A and Marisa. Thankfully now the Chinese government has been more considerate towards workers right but in the other hand factories will migrate to poorer countries like Bangladesh and india where the labor cost is cheaper

hi we are kelin clothing factory which have been producing tshirt shirt polo pants etc for 17 years . 80 workers .120 sewing machines .export to usa italy spain more than 10 years . we work with usa golf club and beverly hill polo ovs for 7 years . we just make videocall so that you can see our factory and showroom to confirm what i said . low moq is ok for us 😁

Bangladesh and Vietnam are much better places to have these products made. China's prices are too high and the quality is very poor. Vietnam and Bangladesh have lower costs and better quality.

the source of textile workers minimum wages are wrong, minimum wages of Textile industries in Indonesia is $200 since 2008, and now the minimum wages is around $275...for Malaysia Textile workers minimum wages is around $350

Bangladesh is cheap but India have better designs. Bangladesh is only good at Cut and Sew. India is good at designing and new styling. Since long time china was taking all the cut and sew work and now they are shifting this labour intensive work to Bangladesh. Come to India for designing
