What a dork - I can't believe I mislabeled Denise's Gray! it is indeed PB36, not PB35. Thank you so much for your kind words, and I'm so glad you enjoyed the set. I LOVE the painting you created! These colors mix gorgeously too, but I'm so glad that you shared painting them straight from the dot cards, too. I love that they're soft enough to use either way. Thank you for sharing them with your viewers, and of course a belated Happy Birthday!

I Loooove DaVinci paints! I have most of these paints in tubes. I can't believe you never did a review of your older paints and sold them all off!

Hahah. I'm so sorry about them being sold. It happened too quickly. It was during the pandemic when, in my area, co artists needed artist grade materials. It was scarce then. Also, i needed to earn a bit extra. 🤷‍♂️

Your sample painting on this one is so beautiful! Very vibrant and glowy. I love Da Vinci paints, they are my favorite brand. I use the naples yellow deep in sunsets a lot, it doesn't turn green as easily as other more yellow hues but still reads as a yellow. I love watching your videos, the birds in the background is so soothing. Anyway, happy painting!
@AllanJayQuesada
@AllanJayQuesada Год назад
Thank you, Renea. If DaVinci paints were just easily accessible in here, i would've easily put it as my main go to brand. So I understand why it's your fav. Pbr24 is underrated and underexplored accross brands. I can't believe DS only just included it recently in their line. In my top 20 single pigment video, i would've included it instead of the Mars Yellow if it was available back then. Thank you so much as always and happy painting too. 😍

@@AllanJayQuesada I wish they would start selling thru Jackson's! I feel like they are underrated as a brand, they are such a joy to paint with. Buttery without being gloopy, highly saturated, vibrant and consistant. I have the Denise's grey and Stormy blue coming in an order, I can't wait till it gets here.

Thanks, Firb! I was really surprised by Lilac, too! I didn't use it often before developing this palette, but it is a shockingly good mixing color for softer, atmospheric mauves and greys.
@AllanJayQuesada
@AllanJayQuesada Год назад
I think the lilac helps balance the set to be versatile. It serves as the closest magenta/cool red in the set, so it's a great mixing color. Just add naples yellow deep and you get a range of skin tones. Add the blues and you get purple skies. 😊

Hi Allan, love your videos. What set would you recommend for a beginner?
@AllanJayQuesada
@AllanJayQuesada Год назад
Thank you. 🙏 That is actually the question i get the most. My quickest answer is for you to get the best you can comfortably afford. 😊 More specific recommendations would really depend on the availability of the products on your location and the pricing. If you prefer student grades, you wont get wrong with sets from VanGogh, Sonnet, and Pretty Excellent. If you want cheaper professional grades, go for 12-color set White Nights or 24 colors of Paul Rubens. If you're from Asia, the Mission Gold (pure pigment set of 26) and Holbein 24 colors 5ml set are 2 of the best. If you're from Europe, you'll never go wrong with any basic set (12 colors) from Schmincke, Sennelier, Winsor Newton Pro, Roman Szmal and Maimeri. Ultimately, if you have access to US brands, get the ultimate mixing set of Daniel Smith (6 colors of split primaries) and add fee more convenience and earth colors, or get a DaVinci Watercolor sets. 😊

WOW you have so much experiance in the watercolors world! thank you for sharing you helpful videos! A new Spubscriber! Can you please advise me of watercolors in a tube of good quality and dries without cracking in the pan and has good lightfastness at a good price, because through my research even the colors of expensive brands sets have not of lightfast pigment!
@AllanJayQuesada
@AllanJayQuesada Год назад
Thank you, too. Cracking of paints is actually normal to a certain extent. And this depends on your location oftentimes. If you live in a humid country, like mine, only the cheap school cake paints crack. But if you live in a dry and low humidity area, your paints will easily dry up and get a tendency to crack. If you are in an area with low humidity, i believe the best paints fot you are those that contain humectants like Honey.. to mention brands, there's MGraham and Sennelier. Even professional grade paints have fugitive and poor lightfastness colors. And that is natural because there are pigments that are loved by many, regardless of its lightfastness. One example is the genuine Alizarin Crimson ising PR83. PR83 is a fugitive pigment present in may artist grades including daniel smith and MGrhaam.. but they still manifacture because of the demand. Some users dont mind lightfastness maybe because they scan their work or they paint on sketchbooks.

Hi Allan I'm an Interior Designer and I'm about to take the Board Exam this year and I'm just wondering what watercolor brands do you recommend when drafitng interior space bcuz we are required to use watercolor or markers for the boards to you as medium. Thank you 😊
@AllanJayQuesada
@AllanJayQuesada Год назад
Hi Francia. Wow. I'm an architect, and during our boards, the drafting and design exam was already omitted. I felt sad. I'm glad you still have the manual drawing with coloring in your boards. If time is really short, i think markers will be good. But watercolor has the edge in achieving textures kasi. I don't think, though, there's a particular brand that'd give edge.. but definitely get a pans set. Also, it is better i believe to get a full pans set for quicker bads in case you need it. If you go for professional paints, go for White Nights full pans sets. It's instant. 😊

@@AllanJayQuesada wow thank you so much for the advice. I'm kinda new on watercolor that's why. They say that if we use watercolor as the medium there's a positive that we are graded a lot higher compared to other medium like markers and all. kaya pala it's because of the textures that we can achieve by using watercolor 🤞🏻 hopefully in this short period of time I can learn on using this medium for the board and or maybe I'll get to love it and make it as a hubby just like you do. I'm a fan of your works by the way. More power to your channel. Is it okay if student grade? if there's any from White Night?

Hello Allan, I am a beginner artist yet wish to use some good watercolour brand, bit higher than the student's grade ones. Can you kindly recommend me some?
@AllanJayQuesada
@AllanJayQuesada Год назад
Hi Duli N. There are a bunch of reasonably priced watercolor sets out there. But there are 2 main considerations on the pricing. 1st is your location, and 2nd is your budget. If you live in Asia, some I could recommend 2 of Asia's bests: Holbein of Japan and Mijello of Korea. If you're from Europe, there are more options, but the best-known affordable European brand is White Nights from Russia. If you're from America, DaVinci is reliable and affordable. The prices of these brands can still be pricey but think about of 2 things again: 1st is to just get primaries and fee supporting colors (6 to 10 colors are good) and 2nd, artist grade paints are good investments for a little paint will go longer than cheaper onces. 😉

Hello po!! Been enjoying your videos a lot lately and now I'm deciding which watercolor to buy since I got interested. Saw this watercolor that fits my budget (which is Php 500) and also has all the split primary palette which is seamiart artist grade. one review said they're better than prang pero sadly wala pa po syang mga review comparison sa yt so idk if it's true. If pwede po sana, pareview po syaa 🥹🥹
@AllanJayQuesada
@AllanJayQuesada Год назад
Hiiii. Thank you. I'm glad you enjoy the videos. 🙏 i have been receiving requests before pa to review the seamiart artist grade.. although i don't want to fully "accept" the label "artist grade" till I see its specs and details, the fact that it is tagged as better than the 1st Seamiart cakes that we've reviewed, makes me give it an approval for the price. Si Seamiart cake 50s at most aspects imho is better than Prang, so what nore pa itong artist grade nila. So no doubt, it's gonna be good. I think it's somewhere between Arts Arch watercolo4 and Superior WC. I think i can review it later this year though. 😊
