We just arrived in Koh Lanta and this island it's absolutely amazing! beautiful nature, white sand beaches, clear water and great atmosphere in general.
But how is Koh Lanta doing in 2022? are the businesses open? are there tourists?

I visited Koh Lanta in Feb, 2023 and really loved it. I'm planning on going back next year. I have to say that Koh Lanta Noi is worth visiting, very quiet but worth it.

Spent some time in Koh Lanta during January 2023 and loved it! If you want a laid-back, beautiful island without all the tourists, this is your island. Most of the closed down shops are now open. I didn't get any sense of a struggling economy whatsoever. In fact, this was my favorite place I visited while exploring Thailand!

I'm going to Thailand next week, for my birthday I booked Koh Lanta as last stop :) Still not sure if want to take off 2 days from there and go to Koh Lipe too, it's my first time in thailand!

@@FabioMocci Koh Lipe and Koh Lanta are very different. Lanta is peaceful and quiet with more people age 40+, plenty of nature, animal sanctuaries, yoga/meditation, etc. Lipe is more of a remote party island (a smaller-scale version of Ko Phi Phi) with more people in their 20s and 30s partying on the beach, in my observation.

We spent 4 days in Koh Lanta in September and we have to admit it was a lot quieter than other parts of Thailand we visited. We still enjoyed it and had a good time relaxing there. Thank you for this!

Hi Gabi, thanks again for the lovely video. I was in Koh Lanta in January for around 4 days. I enjoyed my stay relaxing on the beach and riding around on a bike to see the national park. Nice time to visit actually and i could also see places opening up. There are more people at night around Saladin Pier, but not as bustling as the walking street was. I will return at the end of the year again. Let's hope all this paperwork to come back to Thailand disappears. In fact, Koh Lanta appeals to me a lot.

Great tour of Koh Lanta…..sad to see how deserted it is…locals seem ready to receive tourist! Excellent comments on easing restrictions for tourist arrivals into Thailand…the idea of simplifying the requirements may be gaining some traction with authorities. Hoping the month of March brings an expedited one RT-PCR test requirement to enter Thailand! Keep up the good work! 😉😊

Been many times to Koh Lanta since 2006, last time was 2016 and what a change in 10yrs, more mosques now and building into the hills , not always a good thing though, thanks for the video 👍

I visited koh lanta in 2006 so that was a while ago, stayed at the Pimalay resort. I have plans to visit again in January 2023 and stay in the klong dao area. I hope there will be more tourists soon and that it will be easier for people to visit Thailand. Greetings from Sweden.

I was there in February 2020 and just two weeks ago! It’s totally different and it makes us really sad, to see how bad it is now. But the island will come back stronger!

Very nice Video Gabi. Unfortunately we won't be coming back to Thailand until all the restrictions are dropped .... Holidays are supposed to be relaxed and stress free.... Not worrying about test results. We are both fully vaccinated and boosted.

The restrictions are slowly being lifted and I hope it won’t be long before tourists are back, I was last in Thailand Feb ‘20, just as Covid was spreading, I will be back in Nov/Dec ‘22 and will spend some time in Koh Lanta, I am hopeful that it will be a little busier by then 🤞

Hi Gabi, I'm traveling to SE Asia in a few weeks for the first time. I see that a lot of people, like you, seem to rent those scooters/motorbikes to get around the island. Does it take any skill to ride them (e.g., changing gears) or do you basically just twist your wrist to make the bike go and therefore anyone can do it? Also, I'm interested in both Koh Lanta and Koh Samui. Anything thoughts on the differences between them based on your experience? Thanks so much!

Too right Gabi. It's time. The pandemic is officially declared endemic in the UK from Thursday. Done. 1 month shy of 2 years. Time for the world to start spinning again. I'd give anything to be on one of them secluded beaches right now.

@@ridewithgabi we got to nearly quarter if a million cases a day in the UK. We're only just dropping below 50,000 but deaths are below the average for flu every year.....therefore the desicion has been taken to declare it endemic. Omicron BA.2 is nature's vaccine.

Andaman Taxis or King Travel. I've used both and was very happy with the service. Avoid the ferries. They are a nighmare in Thailand!

We were in Koh Lanta in August 2018. Before Covid, but even then it was too quiet and boring for us. Wr were supposed to stay a full month, ( had rented a brand new villa) but left after one week. We had seen it all. Not that much to see actually..

Ahah I hear you :) it’s extremely quiet and perfect if you want to “get away” from the world and immerse yourself in nature. But me too I don’t think I can live here long term. I need a bit more action.

Cosa dire di koh Lanta? Quello che mi ha sempre colpito è Ao Yai la spiaggia lunga dritta e immensa e senz'altro la natura immacolata all'interno data dal fatto che è sotto protezione.
