That corner module is all on or all off. Each module (since it is Wecan) can be individually programmed for flash pattern, phasing, and time delay (as well as color of it is a duo or trio bar) using their Command software. It appears that half the module is out. Rare for Whelen, but it does happen.

hybrids don't add any extra maintenance, the electrical system doesn't use any fluids or moveable parts, and hyrbids can now power A/C and everything else off battery power alone. the engine is only needed for supplemental power when driving and topping off charge on the motor battery as needed at idle. hybrids are most efficient in city driving due to regenerative braking and at idle which is the bulk of police driving, so it makes perfect sense to have a hybrid police car. F1 cars and city buses are all using hybrid technology now, why not police cars?

It really varies. A lot of departments opt out of the partition. Highway patrols, for example, often carry their detainees in the front seat. My department only orders maybe 10% cage cars as we need them so rarely. It's a decision made based on the needs of the department.

SrWardo93 unless the hybrid tech has dramatically improved the cost of upkeep are very expensive. Our department purchased one to save money, and it was discovered although a good idea it was just not practical for everyday patrol use. It was in the shop more than it was on patrol for electrical issues. Hope this one fairs better.

@101327 well the department where I work and surrounding areas all have caged off plastic seats. Maybe some small town in the middle of nowhere with a small budget would have to opt for no cage. Seems a little sketchy to me though, I've seen people get really really aggressive in the back of the car and without a cage you would have no way to safely transport them.

@@RaitisRides nice! I'd be curious to see how these hybrids perform. My biggest complaint with the FIU is the transmission, it never knows what you want to do. If you go to floor it it takes forever to figure out or needs to drop a gear and move. Hopefully that gets sorted out in these new ones

Cops sure don’t have to be as tough as they used to be with all these protective features and gadgets. When my uncle was a cop in the 70s/80s you wouldn’t have no armor on your body or on car, no divider, and no fancy tech like tasers laser blinding lights, sprays etc. only thing u could do back then was use tackles or judo maneuvers with baton which proved affective but 90 percent of modern cops would be too weak to handle. Unfortunately that’s why we see cops just standing 20 feet away from criminals either electrocuting them or pointing guns at them screaming not getting physically involved like they used to. But I guess that’s modern over cautious America at its best. Respect to all the old cops out there with ur creative physical tactics but modern policing will just be all gadgets and armor.
