People often choose their accessories based in part on personal expression. This knife for example says "I dont take myself too seriously". It's always been that way in basically every culture since well before recorded history. The days of the American frontier to the height of dueling days it was not uncommon to have a "dress knife" and a "EDC" knife so to speak. Bowie himself owned a collection of knives for formal wear and everyday wear. It was an accessory as much as a pocket watch was. It didn't have to have anything to do with military, just any formal occasion where you are trying to look your best. If something happens you wont be defenseless. That said, I'm American and I prefer my blades in either earthy colors(brown, green, olive, etc.), black, or treated leather. I think its pretty safe to say you probably won't lose this Mora in a pile of leaves at sunset though. There are tons of burly outdoorsman out here who would absolutely carry this. I imagine some probably choose it just to set others at ease and break the proverbial ice.

The basic Mora is the kind of knife you toss in your car, bag, tool box, or any where else you might need to find a knife. It is "enough knife" to do almost anything you need if you are reasonable, and cheap enough to not cry if you damage it. I'm less interested in the higher price versions. Sure, this version is s nice joke... but it has a lower cost to capabilities ratio.
Americas most popular knife???? As an American I am not really surprised, I immediately want to buy one or three. Morakniv makes a good product, and they come with good sheaths for a bargain price. Nice doughnuts
@brianf9619 Exactly, I can understand someone saying it's an iconic knife from back in the day, because it was the first Nass produced and media pressed folder , but not as America's favorite knife, and even as iconic, that's the bowie over all, but yeah the buck held a place in history being what it was. Truth is, right now, I'd have to say mora is probably the most owned and carried knife for fixed blade, Maybe not the best, but in the economy and for its general overall being great at most things in a budget price point. As for folders, tgere quite a few really good ones out , its definitely a booming time for folders, but certain company's are really taking the spotlight, and buck is definitely not one of them lol, buck is over priced and just not up to standards for durability, speed, grip, lock , it has nothing but memories of grandpa having one, it literally has nothing going for it. It's true there are alit of old ones still around, but they made so many of them lol.

I live in Canada, and can't find a "dessert" anything here. We cant have auto's so the AK is out of the question, also Mora doesn't offer this version here anywhere. We also can't have OTF knives so it makes it difficult, but I love the look of this knife. Mora makes great budget knives though, nobody can deny that

I have only once gotten a Mora knife that shaved directly out-the-box (in central europe)! They always come with a very overpolished edge and it takes me some time to get the edge sharp (the Hultafors come duller because the grind does not even meet in the middle, but it takes me about the same time to sharpen because the same amount of material is in the way of a good apex). Can even run my finger down the blade without getting cut. The only really sharp Mora I got was a 7cm woodcarving knife, that was shaving sharp OTB. I always heard how sharp Moras supposedly come but all besides the woodcarving knife were barely sharp enough to cut printer paper because the apex was completely rounded over by the polishing, and I have had around 20 different ones in my hands by now in the last 15 years (Companions, HDs, 511s, Basics). Am I just having bad luck most of the time??? I do like the Companions grip (and I like the carbon version better), but the factory edge just was appalling on all of mine. Also the stainless is very underwhelming compared to stuff like 440C, I had expected more from the hype around the knife. The only positive it has over 440C is, that it can take a finer edge. The carbon steel wins over the stainless in all cutting tasks,, I kind of regret buying the stainless versions.
Fun video, guys. Blade HQ has a bunch of these Barbie looking knives. lighters, etc. There's even a switchblade Weiner Warrior with a rounded tip that is completely useless for any stabbing action. For $70, it's as useful as a screen door on a submarine.

BladeHQ also has some nice folders with icing and sprinkles on them, but I’m getting the Mora. $25 sold American. Thanks for telling me about it.

Blade HQ has long since lost my business. Christmas of 2022 I ordered a Kizer Cormorant in 20cv with frag titanium. I ordered it December 3rd. Didn't get it until January 10th. I thought for sure that this was a huge oversight and would never happen again. WRONG!!!! The last three knife purchases that I have gotten from Blade HQ were about a week late...I go to DLT Trading now

I'm done spending $350 on a knife. The first microtech ultratech I got I discovered that if you actually carry it and get the smallest amount of pocket lint in it, they don't deploy when fired and you look pretty stupid when an attacker realizes that you got a fd up knife and hits you with a hammer before you get the blade locked. Seriously though it is a pain in the adz and 4 microtechs and a couple of Heretics later I decided to go back to the old Benchmade Presidio 5500sbk and they don't make em anymore. Shit. Guess I'll get an Osborne

Idk how this is the most popular??? I’m American and no one I know uses this. Everyone I know has a mora and either a Lt wright, gso, or bark river. That’s actually into bushcraft. I personally favor my gso in magna cut. I carry a small axe and it the perfect companion
