nah the old sound effects make up one piece, just like the dragon ball z sound effects ..sometimes they add some new, but too many new sound effects would ruin the style of one piece
Honestly the sound effects are a staple for op. Used to hate it but now if they improved it it would feel weird. Like imagine if the running sound effect was actually synced up with the running animation.

hi animator here, episodes like this are basically "priority" episodes. they get planned way before the non priority ones, so they have a bit more time. Plus, the animators for these are just goated like that. For this scene specifically, Akihiro Ota is the animator's name. check out his other works !!

I always did wonder, why Kaido didn’t go after Big Mom and eventually Shanks to obtain the One Piece if he’s so bored and thinks of himself as the strongest.
Because he was still weaker than White Beard, the man closest to The One Piece. Kaido originally planned to go to Marineford to kill Whitebeard but Shanks was able to intercept him on the way which is why he was late. In the time after the Paramount war Kaido was waiting for the man who would finally beat him - Joy Boy.
@@bigchest4503yea I’m glad the pacing is getting better with one chapter an episode, it may not seem a lot but starting from the end of wano one piece chapters have been FILLED with content despite it being like 12-13 pages long. So the pacing should fix itself

When people who's not so familiar to One Piece talks about the anime, they most prolly think about the 2000's animation and missing out this kind of animation each newly release 🔥
People who watch the one piece anime are so conditioned to shit animation that a little bit of sakuga makes them question the “reality” of this animation. A single episode of mob psycho 100 has more frames of animation than the entirety of the raid on onigashima.
I like how you're trying to compare a seasonal anime to a weekly one. The reason why people praise this is because it is a weekly anime, and the expectations for a weekly anime are very low compared to a seasonal one. Nobody is going to criticize you for saying that One Piece has poor animation. Even if you hate One Piece, which it seems you do based on your comment, you should still give it credit as a weekly anime. Nobody is saying that it's better than seasonal anime, but the fact that you can compare it to seasonal anime is a good thing. It shows that they are doing their best to keep up with seasonal anime in terms of animation quality as a weekly anime.

It’s just that however you look at it one piece anime although it has its charms has aged poorly. Excessive filler baked into the episodes, ridiculous pacing, minimal animation at times and strange creative decisions has led them to announce a new one piece anime. And why do think that is? It is a bad anime adaptation and with its 1100 episodes, for a newcomer in 2024 it’s almost impossible to recommend. I don’t know if you’re aware but Toei got rid of a ton of old staff working on one piece and brought new talent and tried to remedy what became of one piece by the end of dressrosa and whole cake arcs. And it was after new “weekly” anime like demon slayer showed the new standards of animation. One piece anime is a remnant of the past and the only anime with this type of release schedule nowadays. I don’t normally engage in online banter but seeing you had written so much I had to reply. I love one piece and in my opinion its anime is a subpar way of experiencing it.
Exactly. This animation is still horrible. Especially for a series as popular as One Piece. Recycled lighting effects for every single hit so they can hide incomplete drawings. Notice how each punch from Luffy cuts to a new scene. They do this to avoid animating both Luffy and Kaido at the same time.

Kaido is legit if you took Saitama, made him look like a pro wrestler on steroids, let him become a dragon, and filled his bloodstream with drugs and booze
just need new lightning sfx and toei is unstoppable (hand drawn fx are way better than ufotable cg stuff, especially if the animators arent overworked to make then like rn)
So kaido is literally Saitama of One Piece universe- the strongest one, bored AF because nobody can come close to matching him in strenght... except a certain pair of smiling boys who never met one another, so he has better luck than Saitama.

@@austinhunterisme1996 not really, demon slayer has definitely better effects but if you look at the animations overall i think one piece animators put more effort in them, they have different styles and they're both beautiful in their own, the gap in animations at this level is very subtle

POV: One Piece fan learns what it feels like to not get shafted animation for once in their life, will go back to endure another year of trash for this to come back, will not feel like a fool in so doing.
And remember, this is weekly. Jjk and demon Slayer are seasonal anime with several months to prepare a few episodes. These mfers at Toei go at it weekly and deliver this insane animation
For those ppl who are constantly mentioning Dbs.... I am pretty sure they are not adapting dbs yet as there's only been 2 arcs in the manga till now. We saw how quickly the dbs anime caught up to the manga even after having extremely tight schedules right ? It's a simple trade that Toei is giving us. If we don't want the new dbs anime to look bad and have a tight schedule then we have to wait till there's a few more arcs finished in the manga so that Teoi gets more time to animate each arc like one piece. Thats exactly what Toei is telling us.
The most frightening about Kaido is not just his natural monstruous physical resilience but the fact he can fortify his body even more with his Advanced Armament, Conqueror Haki AND hybrid form.

The sudden shift from whole cake island to Wano in animation was insane but most of this fight can be picked apart to big flashy effects and beautiful art rather than amazing animation but the animation is still high tier.
This is objectively wrong lol. Many, MANY professional animators on Twitter constantly gush about how beautifully animated Wano has been. There are many moments that you don't even realize is good animation until you rewatch it, simply because of how smooth it is. Discrediting their work as "flashy effects" just proves you have little respect for the art form.
@@Needful_HP compositing is a part of the adaptation and is in fact the effects you see on screen, like I said the animation is in fact high tier no doubt but it’s not the best.
@milc931 Akihiro Ota's animation in this video is quite literally some of the best from the entire year. His flowy style is similar to that of Shinya Ohira, both of whom went on to create one of the greatest scenes in One Piece history during the 2nd Gear 5 episode. The compositing does help a lot and can often cover errors, but One Piece's animation simply isn't carried by it. 1066, 1061, 1015, 1062, 1067, 1033 and MANY other episodes have scenes with simply amazing animation alongside great composition. Of course some episodes may be worse than others, but overall there is a drastically higher increase in quality and level of animation since WCI. Especially since the beginning of Onigashima.
@@Needful_HP u mentioned some episodes that came out after this comment was made but regardless as much as these scenes are amazing you forget that’s one moment from a whole episode that’s not animated this well all the time. I don’t discredit the animations and animators I am saying the compositing far outshines the animation work
That is movie Animation Quality! It is so awesome that I can even forgive Oda-san that my theory was wrong that Kaido would be invincible thanks to the last user of the Heart Fruit and that this would be the Reason why Law wanted to fight him because he would be the only one who could take this from Kaido.
W, and aye man it might get boring but the real part starts when u get through the boring grind, just remember never give up, just like luffy does, u can too. Take long breaks if needed but never give up in watching One Piece, it's like a beautiful piece of art u can never memorize or finish comprehending, truly beautiful.
Ngl, I really like this kind of artstyle. It makes thing more organic in such a fluid animation. I get that the pacing is bad. The manga is just a wall of text. This is the best the anime team tries to convert tho.

@Existence not necessarily. Obviously, text is important, but having expressive and workable drawings is equally as important. That is actually a mild problem with the manga. Although it's not nearly as bad as HxH, it could still be better
Is that supposed to be good? To the non-anime fans: anime has a lot better to offer. Don't think One Piece is representative of anime, it's not. It's pretty much below average in every way.. so don't go writing anime off after seeing this
The animation is good but it feels like its too much, the animation of impel down and marineford has the simplicity that I like but still a clean animation
I prefer Wano animation. I prefer those arcs in terms of story and pacing, but Wano's animation is top tier. The sheer amount of effort that had to go into every single frame along with the fluidity of the movement and the well captured cinematography gives me goosebumps

I really hate this animation it’s starting to ruin One Piece especially now in Egghead. You literally can’t see anything that’s happening in fights anymore it’s just blurry and bright colors everywhere
The damage has already been done. The reason why the pacing is going to be the same is literally because it has already had bad pacing for most of the timeskip and it makes no sense to go seasonal if you have ruined the pacing for most of the second half of the series.
