I love how NeedleNose is a F16XL, I really wish we got more weird planeformers that look real not commonly seen aircraft. Some WW2/Prop aircraft/Eariler cold war in particular i think would be lovely. Also would love BW2 starscream/BB. I just wish planeformers didn't have to be so much of the Entire rbot with plane hanging on their back., though needlenose is not the worst at it.
The Targetmasters are such a huge step back from what we had with Siege or even Prime Wars. Prime Wars had Triple-changing titan-masters and even Prime-masters, had arm articulation
I can honestly say that I like the jet nose pointing upward look better than the other way. Kinda makes me think of Power of the Prime Dreadwind, which I currently have.
Good gracious, I'm glad to see finally Needlenose as a good figure! I was a Marvel-only fan growing up. I didn't even know there was a cartoon until the movie came out in '86, and the Matrix Quest was my favorite story arc. That Issue 62 cover especially was so iconic to me. (I'm a big gumshoe nerd, too.) Needlenose's design just always resonated with me, the helmet especially - I've always wanted my very own Decepticon Super Grover! My fingers are still crossed for a definitive Thunderwing. One day! Since Hasbro and Takara Tomy seem to be on a pretender kick lately, maybe that day is coming soon. A proper Leader Thunderwing and a Commander Class Depth Charge are two wishes I dare to dream with Legacy and beyond. Thanks for another great review!
Actually I really like Sunbeam and Zig Zag like that, jointless and brick like. It's a cool throwback to the originals and anyway, the ball joints in the WFC ones wear down pretty fast leaving the figures really floppy.
I just got this guy myself. And I have to agree that there's just something about him. He has a presence that is apparent both in person and in photography. The headsculpt is full of character, the actual design is full of detail, the color choices are good, and the transformation, while just your standard 'Jet mode on top of folded up robot torso', does enough unique things to have that 'aha!' moment Dr. Lockdown talks about. The locking taps in particular are good, and though individual tabs might not lock in so great, once you get it together in either mode it's rock solid. I kinda wish the2y had dispensed with the Targetmasters and just gave us regular guns and put the budget back into the figure. Then maybe sold better versions of the TMs as a two pack, so those who really really want them could pay the little bit extra and get better targetmasters.
The G1 Needlenose was from the Dual Targetmaster subline that has smaller bots and smaller targetmasters. So these new mini-targetmasters being so simple actually fits the G1 original style.
It's an excuse to make it cheap that the G1 was also cheap. Everything else has been about improving the G1 with this line. A robot-painted stick that turns into a gun is ridiculous. Even as a little kid I recognized that it would have been better to have only 1 Targetmaster but put the budget into doing it right.
I cant wait to get this dude, I have a feeling hes gonna get turned into Windsweeper eventually as the tail fin is the same one Windsweeper had, and not Needlenose's tailfin
I wish this were G1 Dreadwind. Its so close! It just needs more teal, and a different head sculpt. Even the combining with other jets gimmick is something G1 Dreadwind did.
Great review! I'm glad the figure turned out like this . Simple but fun. Taller than most deluxes, wrist/waist and ankle joint articulation and has both target masters!. Yes it suffers from. Silverbolt esque alt mode underside and the tms are basically G1 in complexity. I was fully expecting Hasbro to leave them out like Spinister. I'll probably have to wait 2 -3 months to see him at local retail.
I never seem to stop gasp in shock whenever you snaped whichever pieces off while transforming them. But coolest looking Needlenose even though his jet mode is blocky undercarriage (but not as chunky as Bayverse Starscream.)
I like the G1 style targetmasters, I hope they continue with the trend. Mines coming on Tuesday from Amazon and I can't wait to get those targetmasters out.
Better guns would have requires a larger budget which wouldn't have happened, or a weaker Needlenose which shouldn't happen. Think of these as regular guns with a little robot (Nebulan) underneath.
Regarding the combining thing, it's more likely for remakes of the Predators, European G1 exclusives from the early 90s, of which the original Skyquake was one.
Idk how you think this is better than leo prime. My only complaint for Leo Prime is that the “evo” gimmick just needs to lock in and i would’ve preferred his sword. Edit: and the lion face
Hasbro just can't settle on a consistent design for the target masters. First we had the g1 designs with zero articulation which was understandable at the time. Then we get the target masters that came with Scoop in generations. Then we get Takara's Legends target masters. Then we get the battle masters from siege. And now we are back to square 1 with g1 style. I just want consistency...
I already wanted this figure. I loved the original Needlenose figure, have it in my collection anew since last year, but this one is so much better. Otoh, Needlenose was the best Targetmaster Junior of the bunch. Innovative arms meant that he had a lot of articulation (they folded into the sides for the transformation) even if the legs were mostly solid plastic. Not such a brick there, but ehh... Do wish the targetmaster partners were better though.
I've seen one other review of this and I need to have this even simple stupid aspects of this thing are actually endearing For what a small figure it is it does so much And ask for the Target Masters I don't pose my Target Masters in robot mode anyways they usually just stand there or better still become guns
You don't need to turn the head around in transformation. Since it's covered by the chest panel it's completely unnecessary. I think it's an alright figure, decent for a deluxe. If you're not a completionist or tight on cash I would pass it up. Unless of course you like the figure.
He's in the IDW comics but he's originally from G1. Was in the old Marvel comics as well. They toy was in the same subset of Targetmasters as Quake, Spinister, Scoop, Landfill and Quickmix.
I feel like Needlenose will make a great Aerialbot remold/Repaint. We can get Air Raid ,Fire Flight , Skydive and Slingshot out of this mold . As for Silverbolt I want him to be a Commander Class.
I love how you brag about how great the figure is and all you're really showing is how awful the back kibble is and how it gets in the way 🤣. It's like a typical modern deluxe just with a backpack that gets in the way 🤣
To be honest, I don't like the hollowness of the figure. It's basically every where, back of arm, back of fist, inside of thigh, back of leg, bottom of foot. It's hollow in every potential hollow point of all transformer figures.
surprising, I keep hearing good things, despite his original reveal seeming lackluster. I owned the g1 version...so maybe I'll get him. I think it's a see in person type of toy
haha you fools watch chefatrons videos especially the sky quake video both needlenose and sky quake are not compatible to each other needlenose's slots on his chest are to small to fit on sky quake
