I remember thinking normal mode felt pretty fast and satisfying when starting out the game, but after farming at 2x speed for some time going back just feels so intensely uncomfortable.
I only use normal speed when using ultimates that I like. Like Imbibitor Lunae, Seele, Blade, Jing Yuan, Jing Liu, Fu Xuan, and Black Swan (I just realize that most of them are from Luofu)
And then proceds to miss crit and transform to inbibitor lunae to eat all your sp to oneshot the enemy cuz if not he Will be fighting dust@@ZojieRainePlays
At this point i wish we could set it to 1.5x it feels like the perfect middleground to both enjoy the animations and not feel like we're walking in molasis 😂
I do appreciate that nearly every character has separate voicelines when played in 2x or normal speed. March 7th's ultimate being "Check out this awesome move" in normal and "Watch this awesome move" in 2x, or even something subtle like Himeko's inflection in "You won't get away".
I started playing with normal speed because I loved the animations. Switched to 2x because it was indeed much slower, played on 2x for a fat minute... Then I kid you not, the second I switched back to normal, Qingque literally seemed to be in slow motion, every animation she did was unbelievably slow and I can swear to god she also started sounding depressed.
@@xdanger3216 entirely different things? I haven't had a character that did that. In 2x speed they say half their line and speak faster. Who says something different?
@@tako158take Gepard for example. Speed voice line: A will forged in ice, never falters! Normal voice line: Years of cold hardens the will. We shall never fall!
I think because they know the 2x speed option will be default for most players, they put a lot of care into making sure it felt and sounded normal. It still feels fast, especially when their lines get cut off partway through, but it never feels like you're speeding through it too fast. I do wish there was a faster mode, though. When you're fighting 6 enemies and they all have to do a move (or two...) before you get to go it feels like forever
@@2007excalibur2007 Yeah, that's just the attention to detail I really like, and it helps too, it makes it still feel normal whilst getting to be sped up Dr. Ratio, as an example 1x : "Do you have answers?" 2x : "Your answers?"
When I started playing, I stuck with normal speed for as long as I could until I had to because of Forgotten Hall or the Simulated Metaverse. And this video describes exactly what I see when I try to get used to normal speed again after using 2x speed.
Idk, I still prefer 1x. Voicelines sound better, the animations are beautiful.. I don’t see myself doing much 2x for a long time yet. I've tried it for farming ofc, but it just makes me feel like I'm playing a much more bland game for some reason. We're all different I guess, and it's nice that they added the 2x option for those who prefer it
same here! normal speed is pretty to watch and i also only use auto for farming with teams i know can sustain themselves bc sometimes i’ll be watching auto like “WHAT ARE YOU DOING” and just do it my way lol 😅
I think you're missing the point, no one's judging you for playing it at 1x. There's just something that's clicking in everyone's brains that once they've gone to 2x, 1x somehow feels like molasses, more than it should. I legit envy you, I want to go back and enjoy the deliberateness of the animations in 1x, but my brain can't accept that its truly running at 1x speed, it FEELS more like 0.5x.
I can see why you'd think that. The intention was more just to make a point of it not being very relatable for me, since I didn’t touch the 2x option. But alas, this post is 11 months old. I’ve ended up on 2x for tedious grinding in a hectic life a lot since then. And you and the video are totally right... Once you’ve done it, you’re screwed. Going back is like playing in sludge. Everything is so slow. I envy myself from 11 months ago too 🥲
@@Immersed94 holy smokes I missed that this video and your previous comment were that long ago. Condolences that you too have entered this hyperspeed hell but at least we can farm so much quicker, hah 🤝
one cannot truly appreciate the game without playing on 1x speed, but man i dont have the patience half the time also sometimes you just have to finish up something quickly
ITS SO TRUE THOUGH. I streamed HSR for a friend and she said "Oh it's double speed, they sound funny" (they really don't), so I switched it back to normal speed and GOD did it feel SO SLOW.
For Qingque it's mostly noticeable because she says "please" once and then does ultimate, but in normal speed it's multiple "please" and slower animation. For others, their dialogues are said bit faster but nothing really noticeable about it. After playing in 2x it feels so foreign to play in normal speed.
the only time the game didn’t feel slow is when you fight the final boss of Belobog (trying to avoid any spoilers). It also makes the fight so much better because you’ll end up syncing almost all of your ultimates/engine of creation’s punch with the every beat drop 😸
I get overwhelmed really easily with fast-paced battles, so I just keep it at normal speed. The 2X speed scared me lol, felt like a roller coaster ride, and I feel dizzy just looking at it
I actually really love the normal speed, I never use auto-battle outside farming and the slower speed is perfect to let my brain keep up so I never have to stop to think abt my next move. And I love to have the bg noise from auto-battle when I'm doing homework haha
I like normal speed because you can cut off sentences easier when they perform their ultimates. Dan Heng: "The truth of life and death revealed in>this sanctuary is but a vision" March 7th: "Gotta try hard>check this awesome move"
This is so accurate. I don't know why when in the very beginning I play at the normal speed and feel normal. But when unlocking 2x speed and playing the game for a while, then going back to normal speed is slow ridiculously. It's like they fight in slow motion.
It's your brain doing this. When you activate 2x, your brain compensates for the increased stimulation and quickly adapts to what it considers the new normal. When you swap back to normal speed your brain is still firing on all cylinders expecting the same amount of visual overload thus making everything appear to be moving at a snails pace. If you force yourself to play at normal speed for a few hours (don't cheat, even though it's hard I know lol) you will actually re adjust back to how you were initially. It's just no one wants to do this once they have made the leap into 2x.
I know right?? At first, I also played it on normal speed because I like the animation when they're using their ultimate and voicelines But I eventually switch it to fast mode because I was curious if the *fast mode* did effect their ult or voicelines. So yeah, I played it in that mode for quite some time until I decided to switch it back to normal. After that, I realised just how slow it became after I got used to playing it on fast mode.
btw update, fuck that, i started playing on x2 bc its like so annoying otherwise, takes like 2 misn to farm a thing but without the x2 its like literally 10 years. it does give you more reaction time for when u forget to burst or stuff, but besides that the animatiosn dont even feel like they were made for normal. after going to x2 is impossibel to go back. Only SINGULAR issue i have with 2x is that some characters that were probably made before the realization that most people would play on x2 do have very shitty adaptations to x2. Some characters are perfectly adapted like fu xuan, and there is others like bronya, who does not feel the same at all but is passable, AND THEN there is herta who just doesent sound like a character at all which absolutely sucks considering how good the herta va is (i do play in english. it also might just be my mind tricking me but those characters' animatiosn do feel better in normal speed. This is another proof about the devs listening to the community, they realized people would play on x2 more than on normal and decided to make animations more focused on looking good in x2 and voice lines that do adapt well enough to x2 as well.
For a little extra bonus, some ultimates have two different voice lines for 2x and 1x! Its pretty obvious but for some people who wonder why its because the voice lines would take too long for the faster animation. Resulting in a finished ulti, but a voiceline still playing. Hook has a great example, with one voiceline being her 1x being an introduction that takes a little to fully play vs her 2x where she just says "dadadadadada".
Also, for some reason, it sounds like their lines are two different recordings between normal and fast. And this isn't the case of speeding them up makes the recording go faster. It genuinely sounds like they did two takes for both speeds. Shushang in particular sounds like she had two takes for her ultimate. At twice the speed, when she says "rise", the pitch of her voice goes up and then down near the end of the word. At normal speed, her pitch only goes up.
Every character I've encountered has two different lines for their Ultimate. You're not imagining that. In some cases they drop a few words, in others they just say something completely different that's shorter. A few might just be sped up but I personally haven't seen that happen.
I played at 1x speed till the quarter of Lofu's story(I played a bossfight in roguelike mode for like 1 hour, it was pain) and got irritated that enemy turns eat up so much time, so I switched to 2x and never came back. I only return to 1x when I test a new character to see the animations.
Kinda weird how in the first day, normal speed was normal speed and 2x was 2x. But like after a week, normal speed became slow motion and 2x become normal speed. I think Hoyo ninja did something.
Your brain has adjusted 2x speed as normal. So, when you go back to the actual normal speed, it will feel like in slow mo. Try to play in normal speed for a while until your brain readjust normal as the normal speed. Then you will feel 2x speed is actually too fast.
@@GSIndonesia but would that give us super senses if we could play it even faster?! LOL just joking. But seriously though, I can't bare normal speed now. It really does feel like in 0.5 speed. Even the voices are slow downed.
@@jjunn Im used to with turn based battle and I never play in 2x time speed in those genre, So, normal speed feels normal to me. The only time when I want to use 2x time is when Im farming with autoplay while I'm in somewhere else and not waching my pc playing
I personally do normal speed for more story-related stuff, while farming and side stuff on fast... and yeah it is painful switching. You need some time to adjust again. With some characters I mostly stick to normal animation like Seele's utl or Qingque overall to not ruin them.
SO glad I found the speedup button by accident. I love fast-paced action games so having to wait for each and every animation (as cool and beautiful as some are) was starting to get to me.
to incentivise 2x speed people to go back to normal speed, the ult voiceline are cut to match up with the speed. Herta said 「こんな大きなダイアモンド見たことがないでしょう。あげるね~」( I bet you have never seen a diamond this big, take it ) in normal speed but she says 「こんな大きなダイアモンド、あげるね」 ( This big diamond, take it) in 2 time speed.
also weird thing i noticed but in 2x speed you get the same voice line for ults but in regular speed there are different ones or at least on my sampo that was the case
I love the animations and the sound designs to play on fast speed. Like how with Jing ult a drum will beat as him and his god grasp their weapon. It's too satisfying to speed through.
I literally never play on regular speed, even for bosses,,, it's just so painfully slow to me. I agree that a 1.5x speed would be nice. Also fun fact Jing Yuan's voice actor said that they made then record their lines faster and then sped them slightly for the 2x speed instead of speeding up the original, normal speed lines. (because otherwise the lines would've sounded really chipmunk-y) Edit: He said this during a stream while he was playing the game, don't ask me which stream though idr
I just discovered the 2X function after I saw someone said people who play in normal speed are crazy 😭 I thought it's only for autoplay. The way this changed my life lmao
Starting Star Rail: Huh, normal speed is fine. Double speed is too fast and makes my brain go numb. Star Rail after a month of playing: *starts spasming because accidentally clicked normal speed and everything is in slow motion now*
You have no freaking idea how this made me laugh so hard yet relieved that I am not the only one. I only use the normal game flow when doing a trailblaze quest fight.
I remember that I had been on 2x speed for so long that when I went into a boss battle in the story and it went back to normal, I thought my game was lagging or it was some special feature to make you feel droopy and shit.
theres gotta be like 1.5x or something in between i wanna appreciate the animations but also dont wanna sit for 30 seconds watching the same ult animation
I know a lot of ppl don't care about this, but I'd love a feature like FGO's that let's you speed everything up besides your selected character's burst animation.
I usually keep it at normal speed because I enjoy the animation and battles, but sometimes speed things up like when the enemy recovers from breaking their shield or revive themselves as the ones on the lufo
it was funny because i loved looking at every character's animations and i vowed never to abuse the 2x speed unless i was doing something else and i left it on autoplay, but the second i used 2x speed was the point of no return. i was screaming at my characters for being too slow when i tried using 1x speed again. we need to write about having another speed setting in the survey cus i really wanna look at the character ult splash art
It's so funny to me because I cannot _stand_ the 2x mode. It fills me with anxiety, and all the voice lines sound so _off_ when they're shortened. Like, for some of them it changes the meaning entirely, or the voices sound more annoying. Maybe without sound I could do it, but I like playing with the sound on, so maybe I'll only do it for farming. Honestly going back to normal speed felt so relieving XD The characters sounded normal again, and I didn't feel like I had to button mash. Different experiences ig
Amusing part is if you wish to maximize Seele's buff windows, switching to normal speed to ensure you get off an Ult between her normal attack and buffed state attack is optimal.
i love normal speed cause at first it showed everything, the amazing effect, animation then i switch to x2 for faster speed a week later i changed back to normal to try it again and i feel like got 10 years older after i finish a match with normal speed
Normal speed has more voicelines during ultimates and some animations that you may be miss in 2x The only problem with normal speed is that its TOO slow and since there's no inbetween we just gotta use 2x
I didnt notice it at first for some reason (i guess i was more used to normal speed), but lately i've been bussy so did everything autox2 and yesterday it was so painfully slooow! but Jing Yuan's ultimate voiceline is worth it
i started using 2x when u landed on jarillo-V and when u finally turned it off on my way to fight rhe deer on xianzhou IT FELT LIKE THE GANE WAS LITERALLY IN SLOW MOTION. the animation feels more fluid for me in 2x tbh. but if you wanna u enjoy the animation and impact frames and stuff just use 1x.
Like I used to think speeding it up was bad because I would miss out on the voice lines they put more effort into but I can't do it it's not normal speed it's SLOW MO😭😭 Idk how I didn't pick up on that when I started the game
I switched off double speed a few days ago just to see what it's like yk Ruan Mei's skill looks like shes pulling out jello from her ruan and Silverwolf was typing REALLY slowly in her ult
(For a bit of context, I'm fairly new to Star Rail) But I sometimes change the speed between fights (like 4 times out of 10 maybe just for more context) so I don't get lazy :p
Played a couple of turn based gacha that has 2x speed. It messed up your mind. 1 game I've played actually implement 3x speed. I've never been the same.
