How it's REALLY like to be a solo player in SKY: CotL 

to be honest i have to admit being a solo player is actually pretty lonely and id always see unlit players always coming in groups and chat a lot *sob* im fine-

I've been playing sky since 2 years and I've never had any friends that could stay more than 2 months lol Being lonely isn't really that bad because having friends in sky for me is the same. You sympathize with them and after a while they end up ignoring you Now I just admire the game view with all the pretty details and enjoy the sounds and music :D

I kinda like to play alone, but, when I see solo's players, I like to join them to whatever adventure they're are, until they went offline or disappear

Fr, It's so hard being a solo player. Watching veterans or moths just vibe with eachother makes me really jealous. Especially when they go in large groups. When I see players like those I sit down and just watch them, wondering what would it be like to play with someone like that and playing around the emotes

I do have lots of friends in Sky. Many of them are nice, and I do consider them as best friends ‘til we wanted to meet irl. But as someone who is overly sensitive in personality, or having some kind of social anxieties and concerns because of the worst experience with strangers, I consider my relationship with my Sky friends is somehow toxic. So yeah, it is not always like what people expected. One thing again, imagine that you have a close, dear friend in Sky, a candle run partner for example that stopped playing Sky and you cannot contact him/her anywhere because of privacy reasons….that would be so painful. So now I prefer to be a solo player more. Therefore… to the maker of this video, I hope you get a decent friendship in Sky, because everyone deserves it.

I was kind of a solo player in the beginning. For at least a couple months. I made friends, but they never lasted long. But I made this friend, actually multiple, and we've been a big friend group for over a year now! I think the best way to start making friends in this game is being yourself. Express your humor! Some people may not get it, but it shows that you're comfortable. Showing confidence can help. Not like in an egotistical way. Show that you want to be friends. Ask them about their interests or hobbies and discuss yours own. Tell funny stories and be descriptive! I know that may sound kind of daunting, but it really expresses how and who you are as a person and it shows the other person that they can be comfortable around you, too. One day you'll meet someone who has the exact same humor as you or even other interests and you'll create a close bond. I have social anxiety irl, and I admit, it is so extremely difficult to make new friends. I was nervous to even sit on the bench to talk to strangers or to join others in the beginning. I slowly got used it though and it's easy for me to make friends now. But I think the number one thing that can help make friends is, low and behold, being kind. Alway be respectful and show that you care. If someone needs help, don't act stand offish. Help! Be understanding of their troubles, even if it's something stupid. We all just want a person that cares about us and that we know we can trust. It can be hard to find that certain someone, but you'll get there. Also, there is nothing wrong with being a solo player. Certain people just like to keep to themselves, and that is okay. This is just for people who maybe need a little push to be more open. Oh! Also another tip, maybe you already have a close friend you're comfortable with, but you would like to make more. Bring that friend with you! It's nice to have someone you can always fall back on and you'll be more comfortable bc you already have someone there that you can be yourself around, and that all in all can make you more confident.

i feel this too..once when I was bored and sat on a forest bench there was someone approaching me he was with his friends, I don't know what they were doing. I chatted with him for quite a while and finally the moment I can't forget start..." you have a lot of friends" I said "yep I have a lot of friends" he said "what's it like?" I said "well that's fun, I can play whenever I want but sometimes I feel bored With all these things I even want to be alone for one day, but it seems I can't because of my many friends I have to always accept their offer to play with them i feel really bad when i don't do that lol"he said"Why does it turn out that our situation is reversed lol!" I said "pardon?"he said "nothing" I continued. The conversation was fun even I wanted more but I can't , I'm not very good at speaking in front of people .Yep that's my story, I want to be in that position but i think i can't lol!.

I have friends but they 1. Run away from me 2. When I need help with anything they just randomly leave. I found perfect friend, but he was new and he stopped playing after his first eye of eden run ._.

I’m a solo player for the most part. I get kinda awkward when I try to make friends in game/online. I see a lot of people chatting and having fun with people they have friended and made connections with and I always wanted to have a sky best friend or something. Non of my irl friends ever want to play since it can be a troublesome game at times so I don’t have any close close friends in game. So I started ubering. I offer Uber rides through discord and I always feel great helping someone, some people don’t chat and that’s fine, it at least gets me through the cr. Other people do chat and sometimes we will say high to each other and chat in home space or help each other out in quests. It’s not a perfect solution but it’s good enough for me. I love being someone people can ask for help from.

This was beautifully done. 😊 As someone who started off as a solo player, I somehow ended up a pretty social player with the help of meeting a few extroverted friends who broke me out of my shell. Although I still prefer going solo sometimes when I want to be alone or in areas like Wasteland...I would hate to get anyone krilled by my fault. If you're still looking for a friend, I would love to be your Sky friend. You seem like a lovely person.❤

Ngl I've been loving my solo play. I even practice flying in Eden alone. I do have a couple of friends, but we all do our own things. I like that we follow an unspoken rule that we don't just suddenly warp to each other and only chat and say hi when we're both at the same place and server. I'm content with that already.

For me, I want to stay solo forever. Sky has always felt so peaceful, like an escape from reality, and I always feel like sharing that experience with others makes it feel less real. I’m generally antisocial, and I never really want attention or people to hang out with in the game. That’s how being a solo player works for me, and yes, I do sometimes get a bit lonesome, but never for very long.

I've had friends who do play sky, but they don't anymore because of school and such, to which I completely understand but, the more I play sky alone I end up feeling more depressed by it; Seeing other players either with their lover or friends, or just a group of people playing together, makes me think of the old times I use to play sky with everyone that I knew and it brings back good memories, but behind those good memories, always comes a broken and sad heart. I truly miss playing with people and being able to just enjoy a nice laugh or be able to get somewhere. Quest's were so much easier and such, don't get me wrong they offered to help, but do I really want them to log in only for that? anytime I watch them leave, I always get sad knowing that's the only reason why they'd ever get on; but their reasons on why they cant or some just don't have the motivation to play, are very understandable, just... feels lonely and still very, very upsetting for me, sense sky was a way I could escape and such. I always regret going to Wastelands/Daylight Prairie because you always see a group of friends their or something, I just always watch them have fun and such, again followed by that same sadness. Other people on sky had tried to become my friends, but I don't mean to sound rude or anything, but I'd prefer my closer friends and such, ones that I've known longer, I feel more comfortable with, plus it wouldn't be the same. Solo sky for me is very depressing and is one the reasons why I just want to quit sky.

Sometimes I wanna be a solo. heres why Pain of a social player summed up in one story according to my own experience warning: overly emotional, cringe. one day you decided to go to eden, and on the way to respawn you soar pass her/him; remembering all the happy times you've had together. The first time you met: "Hi, my name is _____, nice to meet you! I just joined this game and don't know much... Can we be friends?" You remember that time when you were a moth and they took care of you, took you on candle runs, the first song you learned and you cannot wait to play it to them, And you remember the promises you made to each other: "When I become an ikemen I will take you on candle runs!" Then it struck you: that you never fulfilled that promise. That the flow of time stretched you both so far away from each other. That you may have passed each other countless times not as friends, but as dark strangers. That the star you once looked upon with love and value will never lit up again. Your time together is up. And although your dignity would no allow it, although you still want to believe that it ended for the better, you whisper to nothing in particular. *"where are you my friend? I wish we could have the old times back. I wish I could have you back."* *"I miss you."* sorry for long comment hahaha

It is difficult to play alone in a world where you can do the easiest thing accompanied by someone, literally a game to be with others

A big hug for you from someone who's also a solo player :') I downloaded this game last December, messed around for a week or two, made a few moth friends who i got to spend time with for maybe 10 minutes each, but then I stopped playing because of school and now just returned to sky this week. Feel like a freshly new moth. I went through eden for the first time a couple of days ago-solo ofc, which sucked so much-and now I just feel lonely. My past friends are mostly inactive now. Doing cr alone while honking every 3 minutes is what I ever do these days. Currently I have a lot of free time so maybe, maybe I'll just keep playing this game until I can finally become an Ikemen or Ikejou or chibi vet idk

Well i am a solo veteran as well, i think i can call myself a veteran as I have been playing since enchantment. I wasn't lonely, actually I had a really good sky group and we lasted for so long until everyone of us had to leave because we got busy and stuff came up. I stopped playing regularly from the season of abyss, after that most of my friends, me included couldn't play sky even if we wanted to because of our work or our life. But the most important realisation is that at some point of time sky will become a place to experience the past nostalgic moments, and i sure had my best days of playing sky together with friends. Now i play alone sometimes just to do the quests or help out moths, or any other player. I meet people most of the time, but i can't be real close to them because I can't play more often than I used to. So don't worry if you're a solo player, just enjoy it till you have enough time to spare and play.

I completely understand. I like when I occasionally get to join one of the handholding groups. (mostly happens at the treehouse) The closest I’ve gotten to playing with a friend was when I got my sister to play for a few days. (I also got my dad and brother to try it) it’s so sad that I don’t have in real life or in game friends.

I have friends is sky and I’ve known them for over a Year now. Even though I love hanging out and chatting with them I am also a solo player (if you consider me that). I mostly do my cr alone and chill, play musik or do my quests alone. Being solo is great in many ways but it’s always nice to have someone to talk to. Hug from me

As a solo veteran, this actually hurts. The only online freinds i ever had either ditched the game years ago or rarely play, and maybe im at fault for tha myself. Candle and wing running are so lonely to me to the point where i started to loathe them so much. I cant maintain any online freindship on any platform, the only irl freinds i have that played the game along side me refuse to play it now or are always busy. I gave up on this game on multiple occasions due to me finding it lonely/ over run by prices and limited items, that took from the adventure that this game had to offer in my opinion. Recently gave it another chance, and yet again im burnt out and lonely. Ill prolly quit after this season again lol. Sad boi hours :'3

I prefer the solitude. It's fun to make a temporary friend for whatever reason, never actually say a word to them, then never see them again. Gave me the best moment in Eden when me and a couple others were all new (no seasonal stuff) and we all didn't know the spoiler. A lot of hiding and quivering (I made it farthest and longest woo)

I had two of my close friends join me on sky but they only played with me for about a day- I'm not upset that they weren't into it and it's hard for me to actually talk to people due to my anxiety, but it's nice when people light my candle- or even when I see people I've lit before come around again. It feels just a little less lonely. Maybe one day I'll have that confidence to actually make a friend- who knows maybe they'll teach me some candle saving skills

I have 3 friends in Sky that I could kind of call them a friend, and talk most to. Talk MOST to, but not most of the time. Because most of the time, my friends are offline and busy, my friends have better friends etc. It always hurts me seeing quests where you have to "hug a friend" as a solo player, learning that you could complete the quest from the spirit made me happy then the more I thought about it, the more sadder I kind of got.. But realistically thinking, there's no way I could deal with the responsibility of afterwards getting close to a friend then trusting them, talking to them in every social media. It's possible I could find a really special person and go miles for them, but knowing how shy I am there's just no way to be that serious about the relationship- So I have come to the conclusion that I don't wanna hurt myself nor do I wanna hurt anyone who has high hopes about me. Thus, I remain a solo player and stay low-key 👍🏻

I used to have a big group of friends, they adopted me as a moth and taught me everything I know from sky. Stuff happened and I got locked out of my account, just recently managed to get it back. Most of the group seems to have either gone offline or is playing very little this days, so I find myself alone a lot this days. I miss them so much, I miss the banter and I miss my sky mom. She hasn't logged in months. I miss her.

Even if I do have friends they are busy and not online anymore. Being a solo player isn't that lonely. You get to explore and admire the scenery in Sky. I'm a solo player now and I never get bored, because I'm not playing this game just to make friends it's to enjoy the game yourself.

I never truly felt lonely in mmo as I always a lone wolf until I had to do fire trial by myself. The darkness and the void ambient.....oof really made me hope I wasnt alone. Though I ended up learning the tricks to do the fire trial as solo so I wouldnt spend too long in it

This hit hard... I used to have a friend I always played Sky with, they were the reason I even discovered and started playing even lol. We lost contact a few months ago, and I haven't talked to them since. I honestly wish I had more friends on Sky, just like you said! But I am afraid of disappointing or not doing enough to help them. It's pretty lonely, but there are a few social butterflies that can become your friend and then introduce you to their friends and so on. Stay strong fellow solo players!

Ooh, I see a lot of people here with the same problem. And I guess... I'm not different either. I've been playing sky for two years and in the first year I made friends with different people and made a very strong friendship with a chinese girl. Her name was Qiu, we were very close, I never thought I would have such a great friend. But one day she disappeared without a trace. I tried to contact her through mail, but she didn't answer any of my letters. My heart hurts from this. All my friends with whom I communicated are gone. Sometimes I wish I could go back to a time when I could go to someone and just talk about life. To everyone who is lonely in the game I wish to find that friendship that will bring you joy and love. The friendship in this game is wonderful, but also painful... Now I'm all alone. (Sorry for possibly mistakes. English is not my first language)

I started off playing with a friend, she eventually quit playing because of device and storage issues, so i quit too, after a few years i randomly decided to check out the game again and i’ve been loving it, but it pains me everytime i check my friends list and see that no one is online, I do have friends on my friends list but they rarely play, and even if they did play as often as I did, I’m terrible at 1 on 1 conversations, so I wouldn’t be able to maintain a bond with them Just know that even though you are a solo player, you are not alone in the feelings you have ❤

I can somehow relate. As a mostly solo candle/wing runner, I have a group of 3 friends including me, they've became my online parents and I love them dearly. But our gameplay style is different, I am more cycled around collecting candles, while they like to chill and explore, so I could join them only after I finish my daily cr. There's also day's when they almost don't go online in Sky, yes we can talk on discord but still. I like to help Moths on days like this, or just sit somewhere in Prairie/Wasteland hub

Before a friend of mine hadd acess to the game (when the game was iOs only) I was a solo player. But it was not sad, nor lonely. It was beautiful, you get to meet new people and interact with them with emotes, music, or just casual gameplay. Maybe is because the game was still new and people were more friendly, but I honestly believe that the best experience in sky is to game with the chat off, and only chatting through benches and interacting with emotes.

As a solo player i need to agree on this. I have a second account which is my only heart source. But it’s also very hard for me to socialise and I’m scared to join my friend if I make some. Often we just meet one time and then we never talk to euch other again. But bring a solo player isn’t that bad! I actually like to just enjoy the game and maybe play some music alone :)

I used to have many close friends in Sky, I've been playing for three years now. But since I quitted the game due to burnout, many of my friends already quit the game, completely. I had first friend this close since Enhancement season. Then i had other friend who was chaotic and fun to hangout. And finally another fun friendl whom we played a lot together, and gifted a pass to me in Christmas, i never took it off and i still wear it. I couldn't say goodbye to them...and here i am. Now i have only one friend to hang out, but most of the time i feel.... lonely. Coming back to Sky after knowing your friends quit hurts me.

This video really represents me for being a solo player..sometimes, being a solo player is a good thing and there are times that it's not...like,there's a feeling of quite sadness when being a loner.I do have one Sky friend and we're quite close.I've met her since she was a moth and seen her grow,as a proud friend I was really happy cuz it's my first I have seen a close friend who was once a newbie grown so much. She will even call me her best friend which I find it adorably heartwarming💕 I still consider myself as a solo player because I am lonely most of the time. I dunno if I should call myself a veteran cuz I have been playing since season of dreams which was 1 year ago. Still,I'll probably be like this for the rest of my Sky life,maybe even when I quit the game...so I'll try to make good memories like the good old days before the time I'll say goodbye to this beautiful game.

Haha this video reminded me of my first year on Sky! I made one friend just to see what it was like and to my shock they introduced me to a bunch of other people. 😂 I felt very overwhelmed as I went from having one friend to six. They were all very kind and patient with me and didn’t push me into joining them on candle runs. I think that was the best part, they always let me know that if I needed help I could ask. They were the best and helped me learn more about oobs and glitches to make my run faster! Even now when I see a group of people it reminds me of them. Only one of them plays sky now and we do everything together. 😂 Don’t be afraid to reach out! You never know they might be your next new friend!

I’ve been playing sky for about 2 years. My sky kid will be 3 years old tho this November at least I think she turns 3. Anyways, I got tired of the same routine of candle farming and going through the eye of Eden. I have no friends that I found it boring and stopped playing for a year. I recently joined again and still find it lonely. I play more often but I envy the others that have friends with piggyback rides or chatting. Instead of making friends I just help others and get worried for the moths around. I like to make sure they’re ok. I’d love to have more friends either veterans or moths.

Despite having friends to play with..I never had a best friend who would find ways to spend time with me..I would watch my friends play with their partners or bfs..so those who are out there playing Sky alone.. don't forget you're not the only one ~Jay💙

I was a solo player back then and I can say that it is still a part of me till now. Back then, I never really bothered I was lonely but then I started to realize the game wasn't fun anymore.. So I took a break and while doing so I watch Sky contents. I came across this youtuber with sky cotl content and had a discord server I could join so then I did. I wasnt very fan of interacting with stranger especially knowing they actuslly play sky cotl.. But thats where I started to fill up my constellations as I get to have fun with them. I dont actually like random players to join me instantly, rather those who I know well. Knowing I could still contact them in a another app made me feel Im appreciated and loved💕 Thats also when I started to avoid adding strangers in game but rather from discord..

I'm a solo player and I honestly prefer being solo most of the time. If I want to do tasks, i know how to do them efficiently by myself without distractions. But i feel this video, I meet a lot people on sky and as much as i want to become good friends with most of them i either don't see them again, see them briefly, or see them afk.

I relate to this so much my god I've been playing for a year and I've never really had that many friends i had one or two close ones but they eventually just left i wish my experience with sky could've been playing with friends and it does get lonely, i did end up meeting a friend in gw we aren't as close anymore but they've told me i was one of their only close friends and it makes me feel little better knowing i actually have someone who enjoys hanging out with me after all that time being lonely still most of the time i am a solo player and i really wish i had a circle of friends to be around.. sorry for the rant lol thank you if you read all of it though

Even when I had friends in Sky I was lonely. It’s much lonelier to have “friends” who don’t ever come around. In some ways, I feel less lonely in the game when I’m relatively content to play alone, then when I’m hurting for company that no one will give. Story of my life, even in my own family. All three of them. First one gave up on me, second one didn’t care, third one is too busy, distracted and self-absorbed. Been a fun life.

I can relate, dude.. Ive always wanted a friend but I'm kinda too shy to talk in the game.. even irl. Sometimes, when I'm in a middle of a chat, I just get worried of someone asking me something or me saying something cuz I might get embarrassed, things may go awkward, etc. Joining Discord servers doesn't help too. All I could literally say is just "Helloo!! How are you?" and "goodbye!". • I do have some friends in sky btw but we never talk tho, they just run away and or ignore me. Sometimes when I see large groups of players I feel even more sad (and jealous), I even wonder what it's like to be holding hands. But being a solo isn't too bad for me, I just need a bit of practice and *bOoM* -I kinda feel like im venting here but ehh, thats it lol-

I felt this and I legit started playing 2 days ago. I'm anti-social even on social games and I had to solo the whole game at this point. Only really hit me how lonely I was til I got to eden.

I was a solo player for a while and it honestly felt like I was never going to make friends, but wouldn't you know it, I met my girlfriend on here and we have been happily dating for 4 months now. I also have a lot of friends now too, once you spend some time in the game it's a lot easier to go up to people to light them

I do wish I could have friends that wouldn’t leave the game after they go soon after I friends them (mostly moths who never came back on sadly;-;) It also makes me feel lonely and a little sad seeing all the groups of people and my sister having a group of friends to hang out with, I just kinda chill out at the back of the group when she wants me to join her. I’m not sure if I’m just a very sad skykid if I’ve created a couple sky oc’s and imagine chaotic but funny shenanigans to entertain me for a bit. o-o”

Ik this was uploaded a while ago LMAO but i kinda feel this. I used to play back in 2020 and had a huuuge group of friends, and we would play EVERY DAY since there was nothing else for us to do. It was pretty fun. I got burnt out and stopped playing around 2022 but just got back into the game a few weeks ago. However, none of those friends play anymore. At first it was lonely for sure. Going places i remember my friends and i loved hanging out at and seeing it empty. Seeing my friend constellation unlit and nobody online. but im kinda of embracing the quietness i guess?? Sky is more like my downtime now after socializing with people irl all day. Its nice to just sit and listen to the music and nature sounds. Im like a wistful grandpa now LMAOO Ive met a few new people but the friendships never last lol i havent spoken to them since we met. My friends from 2020 have all moved on to better things and i hope theyre doing well

as a solo player, i only have light buddies. i have a lot of moths on my constellations, but i don’t wanna block them in case they start playing actively and notice i’m not there. like imagine if the way i was or looked really sticks out to a moth and suddenly i’m not on their friend list? i doubt it would happen but it makes me sad to think about haha

I soloed eden on my first run, but yeah it feels lonely, although when I play music some players will come by.
