I've played trombone for 7 years now, and have gone through many different horns. I took a trip to the Edwards factory this summer and tried out a bunch of horns and got fitted for a T-350, but then I got to try the new Alessi T369-A, and I fell in love with it. I ordered one, and am awaiting it's arrival, but let's just say, Edward's "worth the wait" policy is really setting in after 3 months of waiting. Oh well, the price of quality I guess.

Shires are the best....Im a senior music ed Major at UT....my shires tenor goes for about 4500...edwards are usually about 3700-4200...Joe Alessi's Edwards Model is 4,750..Bass Trombones are usually about 2,000 more across both companies. If you were wondering...Getzen is the equate version of Edwards...and (Steve) Shires was the best trombone bell maker that Edwards had, and ended up creating his own company, which MOST who play Shires after Edwards say is better. Any questions? Message Me

to TheMovieCreator: If your figures are from your local currency, 10,000 Norwegian Kroner equal about 1,400 US Dollars at this point (just shy of 7 Kroner to 1 Dollar). It was probably not much different 4 months ago. You have to remember that this is an American program so they use US prices. Exchange rates are important to note.

Professional single valve trombones run about $2000-$2500. Professional Bass trombones (what they are playing on at the end of this video) run about $2500-$5000. I'm amazed at how many man hours it takes to produce just one horn. Then consider how relatively cheap they are to purchase. I was in a music store yesterday and noticed a student line 'bone on sale for a mere $800.00. To me, that's relatively inexpensive considering the workmanship that went into that single horn! I play a King 2b of 1953 vintage. It has been relaquered once and looks as good as new; of course it is of professional quality. New ones are in the $2,500-3,000 range.
