The Finding Jack Charlton film on Virgin Media One allowed Irish people to take a trip down a beautiful memory lane. On Jackie's Army afterwards, former captain Mick McCarthy told us about a story of Jack Charlton dealing with the Northern Ireland fans in Belfast when they were baying for his blood at Windsor Park during the World Cup qualifying decider in 1993 between the north and the Republic of Ireland.

I bumped into him at Wembley Euro '96. He was happy to spend a few minutes talking with me...never gave me the impression that I was taking up his time or stopping him from being somewhere else. He gave me the impression he would give anyone 5 minutes of hie time. Pure class!

Saw Jackie circa 1991 with his wife in the Shamrock Hotel at Bunratty castle. I was only 10 and lost the ability to walk. I just stood there with my jaw on the floor as they walked towards me. As he passed me, Jackie ruffles my hair with his hand and smiles.

What a ridiculous comment to make mick mccarthy played 57 times for the republic of ireland his commitment as a player was always 100% which was one of the reasons big jack always selected him in the team he also took the republic of Ireland to a world cup as a manager aswell but you take roy keane word as truth a man who walked out on his country when they needed him most even jack charlton said he didn't like roy keane as a person I personally think mick mccarthy was a lot more committed to Ireland than roy keane who walked out on his country, don't make me laugh mate Keane was the real disaster
