Jim is a genius... The organic matter content of Jim's land must be enormous, 6% in my opinion ... In addition, he brings ground wood to the soil, which stores a lot of carbon in the soil and enriches the soil ... Jim est un génie ... Le taux de matière organique doit énorme sur la terre de Jim, 6% à mon avis ... De plus, il apporte du bois broyé à la terre, ce qui permet de stocker beaucoup de carbone dans le sol et enrichit la terre ...

Have been growing onions for a while in far North Queensland Australia, when we transplant we always top and tail them. Tops 3 to 4 inches, roots cut to 1 inch keep them moist, seaweed bath before you plant. Have found some that fell out of the transplant basket, being lying on the path for a week, planted them and grew no worries

Those sweet potato slips barely realized what hit them before they were in the ground again Jim 😂 I set aside double the time a Jim video takes..and watch again to take notes. I swear I've listened re: the compost tea (although I missed the 'flood it' memo). Hates perennials? Don't tell me Jim has a flaw ☺ Thanks Pete.

Hmmm I came back here this morning to thank a commenter for sharing his discovery of fungal wilt which I had to look up (verticillium wilt) because what he described is exactly what is happening to me. This was extremely helpful information for me to diagnose an issue I'm experiencing and his comment is gone. That is unfortunate as it was an eye opener and definitely changes my strategy moving forward.

Wondering... Jim makes compost tea/extract when laying down the mulch. He's identified his homemade compost as the keystone ingredient for great seedlings. Does he make compost tea from his homemade compost and apply it when he returns from Maine? Maybe this would help boost fertility a touch. A simple way to make an extract, put a bag of compost in the washing machine on delicate.
