Met Trevor as a kid in Maryland. He was filming a movie and my dad was a chef where he was staying/ eating. He was super cool and talked to us and even sent my brother and me autographed pictures of Kano. Mind you this is back in 97. How awesome to go through all of that trouble! R.I.P.
I like to believe he's an American born in Japan that gets deported, then lives in Australia and tries to blend in, but uses the wrong accent. Somehow that is the most Mortal Kombat thing.
Maybe I’m being dumb but did it actually say that he was origins American? I know it said his adopted parent was American… and tbh it would make more sense if he was originally an Aussie, as to why he got deported back to Australia no? Just my thoughts
It’s still funny how MK takes a bunch rumors and misunderstandings as source material for inspiration. If we got characters like Ermac and Skarlet, I’d love to see a platinum or silver ninja named Chrome.
I don’t remember Scarlett’s first appearance but I know Ermac was “error Macro” he was just a texture bug and the hype around intentionally triggering that bug mad a dev go “Ok but what if he had telekinesis”
@@blumind_web2264 I think it was also a color bug where Kitana’s outfit was the same shade of red that’s used for blood and fans nicknamed her “Scarlet”.
I mean, we've got Noob Saibot who originally was just a joke character named after reversing the last names of Ed Boon and John Tobias, the creators of MK.
I just love how a misinterpretation led to Kano being retconned as Australian always be careful with your adaptations for they can influence the source material in ways you might not want.
@@HairyOldMen-n6qcome to Queensland Australia you’ll probably find a lot of guys like this. The accents aren’t quite the same but a lot of guys here are very fit due to labour work.
To expand on this, Kano seemingly went through an additional nationality change in canon. Trevors performance impacted Kano in the game as early as Deadly Alliance where in his Konquest mode, there's plenty of dialogue where Kano uses British slang and sometimes in a mission fail message he'll ask if his UK slang is too confusing. It seems that they originally were aware the actor was British despite a common misconcept that Trevor was Australian, but by MK9 Kano officially became an Aussie Arcade Era: Japanese-American 3D Era: British NRS Era: Australian
As an Englishman myself, i wish they kept that as Kano’s nationality. TBF though, we likely wouldn’t have gotten some of his most iconic lines if they did.
Fr the kano from the newst mk movie did great andnlooks just rught where as karlburban fits johnny cage for in terms of hair color its closer to johnny then kano and he couls probably do great as johnny @@clinteastwood8230
I remember that movie . I thought he just played the part perfectly because that’s literally how kano was. I didn’t know that he was the reason why kano was that way tho
Imma say that the best way to wrap his history up is that Kano was born in Japan to an American Mother and Australian father to inducted him into the Red Dragon and planned to defect but Kano killed his father and took over his faction of the Red Dragons leading to them defecting and becoming the Black Dragons
I never read the bio in the original games, so when the movie came out, I didn't think anything of him being Australian. It's nice to see that characteristic of the actor's performance carry over into Kano's future portrayals long after his death.
It would have been nice if this was referenced somehow with character dialog, kinda like they did Skarlet and Sheeva with the blood color/timeline thing.
As A Man Born To A Life Down Under, Kano Has Always Been My Main Character Along With Ermac In The 90s - 2000s Then When Kotal Khan Was Released I Played Them Each Religiously! As Above, So Below; We Are Many, So Praise The Son 🙏🏾🖤🤘🏾
I always thought he was American. It makes no sense to have him deported from Japan or be Australian. It’s just comical hearing his Australian accent in the new games.
The funny this is that if you play Konquest as Kano in MK Deadly Alliance, they correctly state that hes a Brit. Have no idea why they changed it to Australian lol
I still think it’s criminal that the Michael Bisping got passed over for Kano in the new MK movie. -He’s a UFC champion. -He’s the same build as Kano. -He has the same face as Kano. -He was notorious for being brash & rude. -He has the accent. -And be literally has a fake right eye.
Tbh the australian accents probably did grow out from cockney accents because of the history. But other factors were involved that i know nothing about.
Wow. I remember being a kid reading the original mk roster before the game even came out. I don't remember that. I didn't know Trevor Goddard died neither.. This was pretty informative so thanks for sharing!
I remember dude in mk3 he went hard - he'll grab you and shake you, throw glowin blue daggers from his boots and roll at you like Blanka from SF. Loved his demenor in the movie and his rude, nonchalant attitude, just not giving a fuck.
The 1st mk movie is number 2 to the 1st tmnt movie in greatest video game movie... yes i know turtles started as a comic but most ppl learned about turtles from the arcade games and cartoon
