Kanye’s music found me at the hardest time of my life in high school, at a point where I felt I had nothing to be confident about, or that I had nothing special to bring to the table. His entire discography means so much to me, but The College Dropout has always been a record that speaks to me on levels unlike anything else
I’ve always admired Kanye’s bluntness and his need to challenge the status quo, to speak the truth regardless of how unpopular it is. That’s something that’s gotten me in trouble in my personal life too.
That’s pretty much exactly what The College Dropout is. It’s our first and arguably most prime example of Kanye West’s perspective on our society, and it cuts right to the heart of young people and their weaknesses
But what is that weakness? Well, it can’t just be college, right? I mean I know it’s called The College Dropout but he’s not really telling us college is---
What do you think of this record? Let's talk about it in the comments!
Thanks so much for watching. Every subscriber/viewer means a lot to me, and I appreciate every like and comment. Let me know what you think about the video or the album and I'd love to have a discussion in the comments! Music is meant to be discussed to assimilate ideas and to grow as people.

I am a Christian and student and I made this channel when I was in high school. I started this channel because I love talking about music (specifically hip hop) and given that the genre seems to be going downhill, I want to be part of the community that preserves the expectation of great music and dissecting what makes a beautiful record. Dealing with a lack of friends to discuss these matters with, I hoped to start my own community that loves music just as I do, as well as to provide a unique perspective as a follower of Christ that also appreciates this community. I appreciate everyone who watches and I am truly happy to see anybody comment their thoughts on a project I talk about.
Put "DON'T SAY GOODBYE, SMELL YOU LATER" as your comment if you read the description!
As always, thank you very much for watching and taking time out of your day to discuss music with me, God bless. Isaiah 55:8-12

One thing I always thought was interesting about this album was that middle chapter of very satirical songs and just how tacky and self-serving they are. Unlike the profound societal statements of All Falls Down and Jesus Walks, Get Em High, New Workout Plan, and Slow Jamz all see Kanye rapping about what he is expected to be rapping about: Drugs, women, and sex. I think it shows that Kanye, in order to be someone that inspires confidence in other people, has to first find the confidence himself to believe in his own music and his own voice. The ending three tracks by contrast are extremely personal and true to Kanye. Through The Wire depicts his tale of struggle with one of the most unique sample flips of all time, true to form for Kanye. Family Business is an extremely wholesome and uplifting track that sees him throwing away that pursuit of shallow pleasure for his loved ones, and Last Call is a wholeheartedly personalistic and confident victory lap.

Kanye honestly doesn’t deserve any hate that he gets. He’s just expressing how he views the world. If people have a problem about it then they should listen to his lyrics. “The media said he's way out of control I just feel like I'm the only one not pretendin' I'm not out of control, I'm just not in they control”

Acknowledging you aren’t in control doesn’t mean that your actions won’t have consequences or that those consequences won’t be deserved
