When i was younger i met Waller at the original Golds Gym We would often train together and became good friends but that all ended after we entered the same competition, we had a big bust up because he stole something from me. We still don't speak to each other and i hate him to this day. My name is Mike Katz.

Calves are probably the only musclegroup that I've notice that never loses size even when I stop training them directly. I remember doing a lot of calf raises and building them up to a very solid size. Then I stopped training for health reasons but my calves didn't atrophy. I was still taking walks regularily which is the reason to that. I should add my diet was also absolutely terrible during this time (several years).

With all the work you have to put to make them grow is the minimum to not shrink when you stop training them😅

I used to have a little rounded step in my shower in my former house and did calf raises every day for about two years, I was starting to see the two parts of the muscle. Then I moved and stopped doing regularly for not having a good base. I just bought a wooden block and I will do the round edge, looks like a great idea, big thanks.

At around 20-21 years old I increased my calves 3" in about one year from 13" to 16". They topped out at 16-3/4"-17" cold depending on the day. I'd been limited in calf work, doing squats and seated calves. When I joined a gym and had a nice standing calf machine they took off. 1 heavy set to failure once a week or so.
@jmartinez19944
@jmartinez19944 2 года назад
I do the seated calf raises 5 day a week & standing 3 times a week with a good stretch and squeeze, 15 plus reps for seated calfs and standing calfs for 8 plus reps. I've noticed some gains. Humble yourself with the weight tho 👍🏻. Also the seated gets your soleus stronger/power, while the standing calfs raises is for size/mass

I did 4 sets of 30 standing on a 2 inch board with dumbells. You're on fire the last 10 or so until you can barely do another. I used too much weight the first time and limped around in intense pain for several days.

It's difficult to find commercial gyms with a standing calf unit, and I've never seen a gym with a donkey calf unit. Many gyms have only seated calf units. As a 67-year-old who began no-anabolic steroids bodybuilding at age 15 in 1971 and is still bodybuilding today, over fifty-two years later, I've always struggled to build calves. Determined, I bought a standing calf unit, which could be loaded over 600 lbs with 50-pound standard plates, for my first home gym about forty-seven years ago. Later, I gave that unit away, then constructed my own calf machine for my current home gym. I used a bench with a leg curl unit, modified that unit with longer, heavier pipes to accomodate many more plates (both standard and Olympic), safely counterweighted the opposite end, built an H-shaped 8" high calf-block with 2X4 lumber for my feet, and use a custom-made hip belt to which I added extremely strong snap-hooks to attach the load to myself. It easily accomodates well over 600 lbs of plate. With this calf machine, I can do not only standing calf raises, steadying my balance on a heavy wooden pole I emplace in the opening of the pipe of the leg curl unit, but can also do donkey calf raises by removing that pole, using extra padding under the hip belt for my hips and lower back, leaning over, and propping my upper body on the bench. It functions as well as any commercial unit I've ever used. I have the luxury of leaving it set up, plates and all, all the time. I've been using it for the past twenty years in the home gym I have currently.

Great video! My calves are very lean and vascular, but I’d like them to be larger. I’m going to try training them every day rather than just twice a week.
@jamesnm21
@jamesnm21 Год назад
How's it going? So far I'm doing weighted standing calf raises with dumbells which really hits my upper calves and especially the inner calf. I've also used a seated calf machine where you sit similar to a leg press but knees only slightly bent and press the foot bar away from you with the balls of your feet. This really hits the outside of the lower calf above the ankle. Edit: duke nukem was probably my favorite game of the few we had as a kid on the old 386 comp. Lol.
@dukenukem9770
@dukenukem9770 Год назад
@@jamesnm21 I had to reduce my calf training to every other day because they became overtrained, but I have seen (and others have noticed) significant improvement in my calves. I don’t know how much bigger they grew, but there are lots of new details in my calf muscles and a massive increase in the vascularity of my calves. Like my forearms, they’re bigger than normal, but because they’re covered in lines and veins, they look pretty impressive.

To get huge calves Train them everyday for 7 days then take 5 days off and repeat again for 7 days then take 4 days off then go and train them 3 days aweek heavy and hard and trust me,my calves got HUGE doing that. Alot of people cant handle that type of routine tho cause its BRUTAL, Heavy Standing Calf Raises, Donkey Calf Raises & Vertical Leg Press Calf Raise are the only 3 exercises you need,if you are worried about the Soleus DONT cause the Vertical Leg Press Calf Raise will take care of it

I'm 6ft tall from skinny 62kg and now 72kg. It's been five months since I started the gym and trained that full rom and squeeze at the top style of calf rise, I'm training them 2-3 times a week. Sadly they just grew from 32 to 34.5 cm of circumference measured when standing while my arms grew from 32 to 39 cm measured when flexing. My calves respond are too slow compared to my arms. I'm gonna try your method and see the change.
