Bruce Kulick was the lead guitarist in KISS from 1984 - 1996. During his twelve years with the band, KISS released 5 studio albums: Animalize, Asylum, Crazy Nights, Hot in the Shade, Revenge & Carnival of Souls. They also released 3 live albums in this period: KISS Alive III, KISS (MTV) Unplugged & You Wanted the Best, You Got the Best!! Bruce Kulick was involved with all of these albums and more. In this video, he shares the story of how he became a member of KISS & some of the differences / similarities between Paul Stanley & Gene Simmons. This clip is from my fourth interview with Bruce Kulick. My previous interviews with Bruce Kulick were for my documentaries 'What is Classic Rock?' & 'Rock is Dead?'

Too bad nostalgia won out over good sense, biasing Gene & Paul towards bringing back previous members (and makeup). And then "business sense" won out over nostalgia, Gene and Paul drove Peter away (just business). Not to mention Ace flaking out, missing gigs, etc. Bruce deserves better then to be part of a nostalgia act, and I think he figured that out for himself.

Bruce Kulick is my favorite Lead Guitarist that KISS ever had. I was able to talk to both Paul Stanley and Bruce at the Real KISS Convention at Cobo Hall in Detroit, my hometown. I said to both of them "Do not let the KISS Reunion Tour happen with Ace and Peter, they will not appreciate it, in the end they will make a mess out of it." I won't tell you what they said to me in response, because I would not want to misquote them. I will say that Bruce looked at me like he knew exactly what I was trying to say. To answer the persons question about whether or not Bruce Kulick was asked to rejoin KISS and playing the part of the Spaceman. No he was not. Anyways, that's it. Rock on Bruce! I love your work!

Bruce is the most humble rocker I have ever seen. Also he is the best lead guitarist KISS has ever had in their line-up. I was pissed when they dropped Bruce and Eric Singer for Ace and Peter to do the reunion tour. I think the Reunion tour was a mistake. I thought after Peter and Ace left...AGAIN, they should have brought Bruce back in like they did Eric. I have many albums that I like from KISS for various reasons, but felt that REVENGE was solid thanks to the heaviness that Bruce and Eric brought to the line-up. Bruce, you are amazing. Thanks for your time in KISS.

Was a big fan of Bruce. I was actually in Vancouver when Bruce came on Robson street to say Rock n Roll all night with 12 000 players to break the Guiness record of the most players. We were only 8000 so no record but a fun afternoon playing that song like 20 times in a row with a kiss cover band. I think they were called Black Diamond or something like that. I was a huge fan of Bob as well. Such a killer tone o Paul's solo album. He.had the playing to.match.

Bruce Kulick was the best guitarist for KISS no matter what. In my honest opinion, it would have been wonderful if Paul Stanley & Gene Simmons could have immediately hired Bruce Kulick as their new guitarist after Ace Frehley had left the band for the first time in 1982. Instead of going through with the two worst guitarists such as Vinnie Vincent & Mark St. John like they had, Bruce Kulick could have been there right from the start when Ace Frehley was leaving and so on. It was a very sad moment when Bruce Kulick & Eric Singer had to leave KISS in 1996 in order for the band to make way for the reunion tour with all four original KISS band members which included Ace Frehley & Peter Criss. It became even more saddening that Bruce Kulick was never asked to rejoin KISS after Ace Frehley had left the band again for the second time in 2002 after the original farewell tour was over. Paul Stanley & Gene Simmons had both thought that their newer guitarist Tommy Thayer who joined KISS in 2002 could capture and copy Ace Frehley's persona of the Spaceman makeup better than Bruce Kulick. Throughout his tenure as a KISS band member as well as a lead guitarist from 1984 to 1996, Bruce Kulick was an awesome guitar player in many different ways. Bruce Kulick may have played on five KISS studio albums from Asylum to Carnival Of Souls: The Final Sessions but please don't forget that he also appeared on a couple of live albums including Alive III and MTV Unplugged. If you check out a KISS song called "I Walk Alone" which was featured on Carnival Of Souls: The Final Sessions, Bruce Kulick had provided his first and only lead vocal performance on that song and it became the only KISS song to feature Bruce Kulick on lead vocals. To this day, Bruce Kulick is featured on more than twenty KISS releases. When Bruce Kulick & Eric Singer had left the band in 1996, they were however still paid weekly during the reunion tour while they were both sidelined from KISS. Both of them were still allowed to do other projects as long as Paul Stanley & Gene Simmons okayed them. Even though Bruce Kulick left the band in 1996, he still continued to work with KISS after his departure. Bruce Kulick had even got the chance to work with Tommy Thayer when they both contributed lead guitar and other stuff as additional musicians on that Psycho Circus album in 1998 which was the first new KISS studio album to feature the band's original lineup since 1979's Dynasty. Otherwise, the rest is history as they say. I sure do hope that Bruce Kulick gets a chance to rejoin KISS for the last time before they call it a day for good. Between the lead guitarists Ace Frehley, Bruce Kulick and Tommy Thayer, they have always been the best guitar players in their own ways and they were definitely legit for KISS. As for Vinnie Vincent & Mark St. John, they were not the best as both of them were very hard to work with. By the way, Bruce Kulick was one of the KISS band members not to wear any makeup designs during the non-makeup period and he had often stated that had he ever worn makeup in the band, he would have liked to have been the "Dog" since there was already a cat in the band. Other than that, I take my hat off to Bruce Kulick no matter what and I wish that he was still in KISS. And that's that. Why mess up the good thing?
