KOAN Sound guys are genious but for me their work is really confusing. Lot's of automation channels that makes a hard job to get your head around. In this video I am trying to simplify things inside Ableton Live 11 using xFer Serum... with a small sacrifice. Enjoy!

I completely agree they are so under rated its unreal I remember back when i was 16 baring in mind I'm 27 now going to see them live in Nottingham even all that time ago they were making production quality music that could of been released easily today!

@@back1000able im hip dude their early releases like the Funk Blaster EP or Adventures of Mr Fox were already on a level back then that most still haven’t reached. I remember being like 13 on the metro going to school and just jamming to their shit. And Polychrome is perhaps one of my favorite albums of all time. Dying to see them live someday, they unfortunately don’t come to the US much.

@@back1000able skrillex was my first show too back in 2012. I was ~13 or so, too young to go on my own to a festival so I begged my dad to take me. That weekend literally changed my life.

Man, I know creating crazy sounding neuro basses can require some crazy automations...but my jaw dropped seeing the automations they set. This is beyond next level. Great job recreating it!!

That clip was automation beast mode haha! I've had to so some stuff like that in the past and it's easy to totally lose where you are and which parameter you've automated.

Hi, Dan. Any chance you can show us how to polish that meeting point between sub and low-mids for a cleaner mix? Also I've noticed while referencing tracks that the aforementioned area dips in comparison to the rest of the frequencies but I find hard to tame/reduce that particular spot without thinning the overall track. Thanks for the topnotch quality of the vids and keep them coming.

3 of the best sound designers in the game are Koan Sound, Noisia, and Skrillex. They are probably the only 3 producers that I can identify with just one bass sound, and a common thread Ive noticed watching live streams and project break downs is that they use A LOT of automation.

Any way to recreate this smooth automation within FL Studio? I know FL hast a lfo tool but it doesn't feature a smooth random curve. How can I replicate this rack?

huh, good question. Maybe try an. external LFO thing, I have no idea honestly. I am not an FL guy.

Here's an answer as an FL guy. I delved into some discussions about this because it interested me, and there is a solution. So for the smoothing you'll need two peak controllers and a x-y controller. First peak controller will have a random shape in its LFO, and you'll need to turn the volume all the way down (0%). Now, you'll link the base knob to the x in the x-y controller. In the x-y controller, link the x level knob to the second peak controller's LFO. Now to the second peak controller. Set the shape in the LFO to sine and adjust the volume and speed to your liking. Now you'll have the first LFO, controlled by the x control which is controlled by the second LFO. The smoothing comes from the speed knob in the x-y controller. The faster it is, the smoother your random LFO will become.
