Everybody hates on Lavar Ball but he truly has to be one of the best dads in the entire world. He built all three of his boys into pro basketball players and does nothing but sing their praises relentlessly. You could even argue that Lonzo and Lamelo were drafted as high as they were (and Liangelo is in the summer league) because he wouldn't shut up about them and they got a ton of press as a result. His wife is also in poor health and he has done so much to help take care of her. He gets press for all the wild things he says but I don't think you can say anything bad about him as a husband and father, at least as far as we know. When you look at it that way, he doesn't seem so crazy after all. He seems like a great guy who's just a bit quirky, and probably on purpose.

Love how much he talked about how important the eccentric phase of any exercise is, it increases the length potential of the muscles being worked and its a great way to bulletproof your joints. It's already interesting how they took out all the concentric aspect of his training, but it makes sense considering a typical basketball athlete is already constantly exploding and accelerating due to the general nature of the sport and practice. This is 100% golden information for anyone who wants to take their strength to another level.
@matineyang
@matineyang 3 года назад
How do you take out a concentric phase of a muscle system? Especially while doing a leg press? Did they just have everyone push up the platform and then have Kobe step in to lower it? He's basically just changing the tempo of the movement. It's not a new concept. The guy just basically made Jordan and Kobe workout and get stronger so their joints could take the punishment.

I appreciate Kobe a bit more over Michael cuz it's so hard and lucky to have a player continue MJ's legacy after mj retires. We basically have a carbon copy version of MJ for another 20 years. Kobe Bryant is my favorite player ever and it's not even close to anybody else. He has sentimental value to me and my family beyond words. But he should not be in the top 4 or 5 if we're actually looking at it closely. MJ, Magic, and Kareem are all undeniably better and should be ranked above him. Tim Duncan had a better resume overall (depends on if think that Popvich is better than Phil Jackson) and Shaq maybe the most dominant player in the 2000's if not ever. Bill Russell has the most titles even if he did play in a weaker era. I'd say about 7th is where he should be ranked.

I've bought two of Tim Grover's books; Relentless and Jump Attack I recommend both of these books, both of them have been really helpful to me in many different ways. Jump Attack is like a training guide and it has helped improve my vertical and my athleticism on top of the athleticism I already had prior to the training. I hope anyone who is reading this has a great day and stays safe during this pandemic.

One of my favorite interviews. Gem after gem after gem. (1) Records are set to then be broken. (2) For majority of the players, the day they shake the commissioner's hand (on draft day) is the day their career ended (they think "I made it").

What I respect the most about kobe is he tried to mentor the young players. He was respectful of them. Very few nba players have the mamba mentality in todays game. Jayson Tatum is probably the best example.
