@@Paul-zu2hf i don't think he was ever that serious about playing competitively again. otherwise you'd think he'd pursue a diet and exercise regime to get his body back to somewhere near what it was
@jeffwilson7100 was think8ng the same thing. I thi k it would be awesome if he played again. But he doesnt have that drive to practice that much can understand. He did that for many years. I can imagine it's very tough to do and be so motivated and dedicated to compete at that level. But yes, he was potting beautiful shots.
Isn't it lovely to see Stephen playing like the most successful World Champion of all time again? A few misses, but enough tasty pots here to put smiles on our faces.
Kyren was absolute class in the Worlds, many people want to knock it because a lot of fancied players didn’t make the last 4 but for me he is a brilliant world champion. The pockets were as unforgiving as I can remember so to score as heavy as he did all the way through the tournament was super impressive.
Let's be honest, the final was a pretty poor standard really. The last two champions haven't really seemed good enough to deserve to win. Now when Ronnie and Judd, who have been the best players for about 5 years and certainly were last year, just can't perform, then fair play to whoever does win I suppose, but it still seems a bit low quality. Brecel barely appeared last year; he got to two finals of non-ranking events but didn't even make it past the quarter-finals of any ranking tournament, which, to be honest, is about the level of player I think he is, which is why I was disappointed when he won the worlds. Kyren is a better player, but the tournament wasn't good.
Wonderful to see what it means to Kyren. No matter what happens in the future they can *never* take it away from him. World Champion. Top player, top fella.
Kyren had such composure around the table in the final. Looked a winner throughout. Never let his head drop, kept poker faced, stayed on it. Class act.
We must've been watching a different match. He almost let a big lead go. Jak Jones had several good chances to put Kyren under real pressure, but he couldn't do it. From 7-1, to 11-8, Jak had a great chance and didn't take it. Jak clawed it back to 13-10 too, and had lots of chances to get right back in the match. Kyren did well, but it wasn't a great final. I was more impressed with his semi-final win in 2020, as that was a much higher standard.
The reason I like Kyren as a player is because he’s serious. He’s not one of these players who pundits or commentators rave about being “quickfire, fearless and plays a bunch of exhibition shots” and then win nothing. He really wants to win. And you can tell how much it means to him when he does win.
Well done Kyren, I'll just add that I told my best mate the first time I saw you on the big stage years ago that you'd be world champion. Chemistry was great in that piece between you two greats of snooker also.
Another great session, Kyren is such a grounded bloke. Great to see Stephen playing so well @kyren, you missed a bit at the top of the window tinting lol
Kyren has always seemed like a genuinely good guy, was nice to see him win it and good luck to him for the rest of his career. Also all these interviews seem to have sharpened Hendry's game !
Fantastic interview/conversation, and some very nice snooker sprinkled in there too (some absolute corkers from Hendry). Just wanted to say that this channel has got me back in to snooker in such a big way and brought back that love I had for it when I was young. I am going to my first ever competition in person at the age of 37, to see the Scottish Open this December and I really cannot wait. Thanks for being such an ambassador for snooker!
Another great video. If you haven’t met Kyren, he’s a class act on and off the table. I beat him in the PaulHunter Open in like 2007 and played in the same Jr comps, and he is so humble. I was so happy to see him win the worlds. He puts the hours in and deserves everything he gets out of the game. Ps….. I will put my Self against any player in the world with the rest!!!
Awesome 👌. I'd love to see Stephen come back for 1 proper season with some serious snooker. Imagine the draw Hendry v Ronnie in any final.. it would blow the roof off any venue 👊👊👊
Im new to snooker. Just found it a few years ago. But it is my favorite game. I just cant play befause theres hardly any snooker tables in the U.S. i literally cant stand 8 and 9 ball anymore. So boring. But i can at least watch snooker on youtube. And i watch every tournament. And sometimes there is a live feed that is available here. Cbut i remember the first time i saw Kyren was in a youtube video in a match and he fluked one in and he got so upset that he was crying. It was so genuine and touching. Ill never forget that but thats when i befame a fan of his. Plqyers here in the U.S. will just give you the middle finger if they fluke one in and laugh all the way onto their next pot. Rude people here.
@@sharpvidtube i was a huge Jimmy fan so obviously I dispised him but after 5 th one I think and his cue break I just become a huge fan , that's what a champion acts like
Finally some decent cuing from SH on this channel 😎 Note he gets very quiet when his break is going well, and it’s Kyren chewing his ear off- the tables turn! 😅
Congratulations on winning and another great episode. It was a terrible standard across most of the matches this year though. Not sure if there was an issue with the pockets but never seen so many misses and only 63 centuries, 50 fewer than 2022. 🤣
Thought the same. When he said he was scared he’d never replicate the feeling and Hendry just brushed it off because he never had any fear just looking forward to winning the next one
I loved watching you when I was a kid, Stephen. You played such entertaining and precise snooker. I'll never quite forgive Ronnie for displacing you at the top.
Stephen , can you address the high percentage of left handed snooker players in the top 100 ? National average is 10%. Have you ever researched what are the differences between left and right? Could make for an interesting segment and great questions for Ronnie and Judd and the Aussie.
That room seems very familiar. Looking at that carpet, I thought Kyren, Ronnie and Ali Carter were all using the same room when they played on this channel.
Doubt he will break the "curse" but he saw his chance to be world champion and took it 🏆 also he worked bloody hard to tailor his game for the crucible in case - probably to the detriment of winning other titles.
@@TheRip72 yeh true. He also beat Higgins who with Ronnie was a big mental block for him so he deserved it. Robbo got a lucky draw when he won it but it doesn't matter how you win it you are world champion.
@@TheRip72 also he has styled his game on the longer frame multi session matches and you just don't get those other than the tour champs.. mind you he will be in that this year could be good prep for a go at retaining his title 👍
Not sure about not getting that feeling. Pretty sure when Stephen surpassed Steve to win his seventh in 1999 & every match was against a top player in what has to be the toughest road to a Crucible title ever, it must have been phenomenal.
Has the game to be a multiple world champ, like Stephen, he's proven to himself he can do it, but thinks too much about doing it again, just play the game, as well as you can, and he'd win again and again, sometimes you beat yourself up for no reason.
Key match was against Higgins once all the top seeds went out because John was on top form and probably would've went on to win it and given what happened the previous year it was superb from Kyren.
This is not to disrespect Wilson, but I'm still disappointed they made the pockets tighter in that tournament. I know they all had to play under the same conditions, but it definitely made it scrappy and took attacking, high scoring players by surprise and the last four proved that. If they had known up front, I'm sure they'd have practiced accordingly. Every shot you were expecting the ball to rattle the jaws. All just my opinion btw. Everyone is welcome to think differently 👍
