I love this guy. My favorite player right after Tim Cahill. He’s received a lot of criticism from his own nation over his supposed “lack of passion” for the game and not reaching his full potential but he’s always been super talented and a joy to watch. I love that he made the decision to leave La Liga and be a part of something special in LA while he’s in the physical prime of his career. LAFC will be a big part of his legacy
I agree, I think he has been one of the best Mexican attackers in the past 10 years, but it really sucked when he had a fall out with the Mexican Federation and refused to play for the team for most of his career. I think that's where is supposed "lack of passion" criticism stems from. He's such a great player, truly my favorite.
It’s because he’s a great player, but he could’ve been world class. He himself has said it before that he isn’t that passionate about football. I think his favorite sport is basketball. He never seemed to have a care throughout his career about improving his performances to what you know he was capable of doing. Always seemed to give it 80% which he still plays well, but there’s always that “what if” about what player he could’ve become.
MLS aren't really rising, I'm not hating but I think thats the true. Mls are miles away from Liga Mx and instead of signing big name players who are near retirement (Or just have a massive following), MLS should change the soccer system here and find talent over here. Like changing the whole pay to play system for example

One of the only mortals that dared to play Cristiano and Messi at their own level, toe to toe and never intimidated by those two and their teams, I remember those magical games at anoeta where they seemed invinsible, wish he had more passion to reach his full potential but he is who he is , a rare talent that's for sure.
So far Vela has met all expectations and paid dividends for LAFC. He is making his teammates better and specially the youngster Rossi. Rossi is flourishing and is becoming a great goal scorer.

Ive said it for many years and will continue to say it...hes been the best mexican forward since they won the U17 world title. Most talented striker and multi skilled. Mexico has never had a striker like him.
You know Vela could have been special when Griezmann said he's the best player he's ever played with considering he's playing with a world champion squad and Atlético Madrid. But the important thing is he is happy at LA

carlos vala. is a vital player. he would be very important to Mexican national team. doe he chooses not to play for em. i hear stories America club wants him and preparing a huge offer. yet i believe hes authentic. and would stay. hes one of the worlds most under estimated football players.
Mexicen players are very talented and good they say that the mexicen league is the second best league after Europe because the mex league actually pays very well then some league..big stars had played in Mexico like Pepe guardiola in the 90s Ronaldinho and andre gignac now and operantly Landon Donavan
Alexis Ornelas which i hate to see happen cause nowadays it jst seems a lot of extranjeros in the mexican league the only real true mexican team is chivas the rest are filled with these peoples from other countries, now i feel like its commercialized and business now like a customer will buy the jersey cause he's a star player, there should be a limit to how many people are playing guess y the mexican national team now sucks
The sad part is that I feel Vela never reached his peak. He has amazing dribbling, vision, composure, and a great left foot shot. We won't see the best in Vela at the MLS. I just think he's lazy at times, he still has some much potential at 28. He's not as passionate for the game as other players with his skills would be. Just look at Michael Bradley, he was great in Roma and consistent for the USMNT. After he went to the MLS his abilities drop drastically

Carlos Vela is like to my favorite Mexican soccer player. I just feel like he's a big fish in a smaller pond with his stay at MLS. And with the amount of financial back in the lafc has it's no wonder why y'all are able to do so good. Very expensive quality players but I got to hand it to you Bradley's a great coach. That being said it is raising the standard of MLS in general, and hopefully by the next 5 years we can she much more competitive games. I just wish Carlos would develop more with larger teams that will actually let him play. His stay at real sociedad was horrible.
