He exceeded the hype by a comfortable margin I would say.

Kareem played in college and that also happened to be UCLA, the most dominant dinasty, while Lebron came out straight from HS so there was much doubt about whether he'd live to the hype or not.

Fun fact is that LeBron with his dominant drives and excellent court vision generates a lot of good 3pt shots on the kick out so even if he didn't shoot a lot of 3's, his teams excel at that through his carreer (his current non-shooting teammates and his first Cleveland run are an exception to this).

@Ryan Kayombya definitely Russ, I think throughout his career he wouldn't be as successful as he is if he didn't have the ball so much. He's never been an efficient scorer and is a turnover machine. Can he score? Yes but it takes Russ 30 shots to score 30 points. Scott Brooks was just in awe of his speed and athletic abilities but failed to use him properly as he isn't a true point. The should've paid Harden, he was their playmaker and just let Russ be more slasher like a Dwade.

Rose is not a good example, after he lost his athleticism he actually started to develop somewhat of a jumpshot in 2016-17. I remember in a interview when he was on the wolves or pistons, he said that he would be out of the league if he wasn’t shooting a better clip from 3, and he adapted and succeeded.

lebeyonce shoots 38% mid range and 75% of his baskets have come inside 3ft in an era with no hand check and no 3 in the key on defense

@@solemagus4761 this is true then why did teams on Ave score more points in the 90s than in the 2000’s?Since 1996 scoring went down and stayed down until 2018. Ave scoring in 2018 matched Ave scoring in 1993…. Hand check ended in 2004 and yet scoring levels didn’t change at all and stayed below 90s era for another 14 years…..

I think Kareem said he was coached not to shoot 3s or from deep and it is one of the things he wished he was allowed to do during his career. To the point where I think he had 9x3pt attempts in his whole career. There is a video of him scoring one on youtube somewhere. Looked good. What LeBron has done has been impressive.

@@prodyg So far, in his seasons in the NBA I think he might be a little too injury prone. He also proclaimed himself he didn't wish to play for so long, but time will tell. Theoretically, he can do it, as he's already a little ahead of where Bron was at his age.

also consider lebron is debatably the best player in the NBA in his 20th year hasn't really lost too much of step. He can play 25 years easily. gonna be really tough to beat that record when he's done

Lebron isn't close to being the best player in the league. His team isn't even positioned to make the play in games. The last two seasons has been nothing but stat padding. The 3 point shot, pacing of games, and emphasis on free flowing offenses absolutely gives someone a chance to break his record, especially if they play as long as Lebron did.

@@biggatorbossman1911 yeah I do agree that Lebron playing multiple more seasons can put some additional pressure on future record chasers, but these guys today are dropping 40 pieces like its nothing. Coming into the NBA in the age of high volume 3pt bombing, gives a lot of stars the advantage of racking up more points on fewer shots. So if we have an incredible superstar shooter that can stay healthy for most of his career, i think someone will do it.

It is only stat padding if you're shooting horrible percentages or if you're getting most of your points after you've been blown out. Kinda like what MJ did on first year of Wizards. Shooting 42% efg and still taking 22 shots a game. He was not the same guy anymore. But kept shooting like he was. But Bron is shooting 56% efg and is 7th in league in scoring. Last year he was 2nd. I think it's the multi-tool problem, surely you can do a lot more things with it than with a knife, spoon, scissors, etc. but it'll be less efficient than any of them individually. Case in point, when Lebron led the league in assists/game his assists-TO ratio was that of a typical PG (about 2.5 or a bit more, >3 is considered very good) but when he's been the primary scorer that ratio isn't that good as he's passing when drriving to the basket or with time running out.

He also broke it in 150 less games than Kareem so gotta factor that in what if Bron had the same amount of games played he woulda been over 40k points already

Didn't Alcindor have a lot of putback situations and real up close shots where he didn't have to take even a step to make the basket? Or are you convinced that he shot most of them Skyhooks because he didn't. Also when he came to the league he had the most underrated player in history give him the ball on 70% of all possessions, Oscar was so incredibly good that it took Jordan his 13th season to score more points and Michael was the arroggance personified, me, me, me, me, and then long time nothing and then I shoot the ball, now I'm not saying Oscar didn't attempt a lot of them baseline pull ups as well but he did grab a lot more rebounds and dished quiet more frequently than Mike. Now back to Lew who was now Kareem he got guess what? The best play maker of all time being drafted by the Lakers. Only when it comes to Malone do people bring up yeah he scored so much because he had a great point guard in Stockton, probably it annoys Jordanites that he scored 4k more points or something, so that when Kareem is brought up it is not mentioned as much and Lebron was the point guard so he brought the ball up for himself and still has 10k assists. Sorry for long post but I had to disolve this stupid notion of Jabbar's sole three pointer, because will repeat a stupid take over and over again till it becomes a notion.

Why are people bringing up 3 point shots to diminish Lebron's? I mean hitting long range shots IS A SKILL. Not anyone can do it. If anything that makes it more impressive because he didn't stagnate, but evolved his game over time.

And even if you convert all his 3pts to 2pts, and added his scoring average to the amount of games kareem currently have on him, he'd still beat the record regardless

You act like Kobe, Dirk, Melo or Vince Carter didn’t play 20+ seasons and didn’t shoot 3’s like Lebron. If 3pts was the reason then they would have more points than Kareem too 🤷🏾‍♂️
