Fantastic vid, really brings back the memories. The great thing about this Leicester side was that three of their key dominant players, Vardy, Kante, and Mahrez spent significant time in lower leagues, playing in more or less obscurity and making themselves into great players by sheer will and dedication. So admirable. Mahrez even turned down an offer from PSG to stay at Le Harve. Kante for under $6 million! What is he worth now, even at 30? Even today when I watch Vardy, i think -- this is a guy who knows how to play striker. I wonder if there are diamonds in the rough out there like these three--my guess is you will never see a group like this again coming of age at the right place, right time. lt was lightning in a bottle, with a great goalkeeper, a great striker, a great winger, a great dynamic midfielder destroying the opposition's attack, and a world class manager keeping it together. Beyond remarkable.

this team is the same as monaco 16/17, may have been seen as "small clubs" but actually had a number of hidden gems which were eventually raided by bigger clubs. still, this leicester team really defied the odds to win the premier league, it was so nice to see

Monaco was a different though since they'd spent HUGE money in the 4 seasons prior (relative to Ligue 1), spending £300m+ on the likes of James Rodriguez, Falcao, Moutinho, Bernardo Silva etc. which is absolutely massive in league one!

This was a topic worth interest. Too many times it's the Man City or Chelsea show on this channel. Frankly, the tactics of those teams is really "we paid for great talents, let's not give them too many instructions that they probably won't follow anyway". Ranieri, in Italy, is a third string manager. You call him in after you canned the guy you initially hired and fire him before you hire the next. But in England, he's a league winner. Why? What did he do? He played it tight and organized in the back and didn't suffer the kind of losses to lesser teams that plagued Leicester's seasons in the past. And this allowed him to hang in there against the financial giants that usually stomp teams like Leicester. He was given defensive players in the midfield and he used them in conjunction and balanced with attacking midfielders. And then he countered the living hades out of the naive and attacking English teams that threw players forward over and over and over. It was really satisfying to see. I hope to see more like this, where mid-table teams succeed over their expectations or lower table teams turn their season around to fight relegation win or lose. At least these would be real studies in tactics rather than the more sensationalism and glamour of the richer teams that at times, play less tactically but have more marquis names that play with less discipline. For example, I remember Leeds having more screen time on this channel last season. It's a shame that a team has to win to be here. There's an honor to playing organized even if the team has less money, and therefore less success.
@user-lq5yx1ke5k
@user-lq5yx1ke5k 2 года назад
If you think Pep doesn't give his players instructions you are either blind or have never watched his teams play. Man City is the most drilled team in the league, to the point they sometimes feel mechanical like robots are playing not humans.

@@user-lq5yx1ke5k thats really been my problem with Pep.....like that humane touch just seems to be missing.Coaches like Klopp do have that one factor which helps them win the hearts of the fans even in the most difficult of times
@joeschmoe2030
@joeschmoe2030 2 года назад
@@user-lq5yx1ke5k Yes, yes the tactical English League...I willing to bet that I have seen more Pep games than you have seen other countries leagues and I have more perspective on it than you do. You can always tell when there is a reasoned argument of dissent and reactive lashing out. This is textbook lashing out, which means that I have probably hit a nerve. And for the record, I don't doubt that Pep gives instructions, however: 1. He doesn't tell his big stars too much, that much is evident because you can tell when someone gets a free pass to go into business for himself. 2. He probably does drill more than the Prima Donne billionaires are used to, but that isn't saying much. It's still not his defining skill. If I had to give Pep credit, it's a skill for making all those crazy personalities work together, not for his game intelligence. If he were a more technical and tactical manager he wouldn't have had a Leicester, or a Liverpool or a Chelsea steal wins from him in the league because he has the best talent money can buy from around Europe. With his team he shouldn't be losing, and any non championship season should be an embarrassment for him and the people who have bought him.

Yet so many people still hate Defensive strategy in football and called it "Negative Football", even when they look at the fact that A Great Defense is key to win the title That is why Manchester City spend a lot on CB and FB, That is why Liverpool only win the title when they had a Great GK Alisson and Superb CB Van Dijk, Also MU lost their title winning chances nowadays when they simply don't have a Great Solid CB like Vidic and Ferdinand, etc.
