@@AutumnDay122 so? It’s for the freshness of the seafood. I’m impressed with the cooks and any chefs dedication to ensure I eat the freshest food available. I promise you, if animals could boil us alive and eat us, they would.
Love this guy’s enthusiasm and passion for lobster fishing. Also, while I’m not from Maine (I’m from Hawaii), I agree there’s nothing like eating a fresh catch, especially if you’ve harvested the seafood yourself.
I once drove 1,000 miles to go to Portland, Maine to get fresh lobster out of the water and it was worth it and can't wait to do it again. There is absolutely a huge difference getting lobster fresh out of the ocean vs "fresh" shipped to somewhere else. Also Medha is adorable.
100% I am from Maine live here now again having it in different states just isn’t the same if you’re in Maine Dorrs seafood had the best and freshest rolls in the state. Thank you for visiting!
@@fromis.9 fresh of the boat is always better in my experience, plus knowing that there isn’t something more fresh than this anywhere else in the world
@@nabibbs7937 She kept on pressing the chicago Italian beef sandwich shop for their secret recipe even though he repeatedly stated that it's a secret. And I can't blame this on her but , she always gets sent to review shops which she can't eat from because it's not halal.
I'm a HUGE seafood, lobster fan and also fisherman. I live in New Hampshire born and raised and consider myself very lucky to live here for multiple reasons. I just paid $6.99 a pound the other day for fresh Maine lobster my favorite food on the planet! It's so cool to see how they are caught and all the hard work that goes into it. We'll worth it IMO.
Catch and octopus and butcher or cook Alive no better animal to destroy. Even if you just want to grill it fry it or chop it and pitch it. Well worth doing over and over. Giant octopus is theee best
🦞Maine-style lobster rolls are tasty but Connecticut-style rolls are definitely my preference. This one from Luke’s has me craving lobster! Excellent episode as usual.
They killed them when catching. The lobsters decomposed quickly and they basically fed them rotting lobster. There where Prison riots and campaigns that feeding prisoners lobsters was inhumane
The colonial Americans were mostly Brits who were unfamiliar with the food. It was already a luxury product in France at the time. It was even a delicacy in Rome.
so when notifications for your videos arrive I am very happy! such a work with such dedication and humility makes me create expectations in me for the next videos to come. may God continue to bless you and your family 🙏 a big kiss from Brazil
Lobstering was one of the first fishery’s to practice sustainability in the mid 1800’s actually, breeding females are marked and set free and they have to be certain slot size.
They also let the females with eggs go and they notch the tail. It is there to show it is a breeding female if they catch her without eggs. The notch tells them she is a breeder and they have to let her go.
@@narc699 its an animal, if you jump in the water there, they will eat you alive, grow up and realize that we are at the top of food chain and we eat anything, and lobsters are so freaking tasty
@@narc699 u could say that about some of the smarter animals like octopus, the lobsters lived a pretty normal life before they were fished up so don't worry about it being tragic

Never cook a lobster with the rubber bands on them. If you're afraid to take the bands off when they are alive, throw them in the freezer for an hour to make them comatose, or put them on their back and split them with a knife from the front to the start of the tail. Boiling rubber bands in your food is never a good idea.
Agree and thanks for the tip about putting them on their back to split them. I have wondered about the best way to euthanize a lobster. I only know how to do it for Dungeness crab.
@@opwave79 That's the best and quickest way. Their brain is located right around their eyes and some cooks pull that part out too before cooking them. But for the most part they should be dead from a split from the front to the tail.
There is a huge problem with Canadian poachers who ignore the maximum size limit with the blessing of their government, which has illegally occupied an American island and used that and a neighboring uninhabited island to justify poaching in those waters
Should have gone an hour and a half up the coast to Boothbay Harbor. Much more beautiful area. Lobstering is really hard work, but it sure can pay off.
I went to the Maine lobster fest in the mid 2000s. Me and all my friends thought it wasnt worth the trip at all. It was like any other neighborhood summer fair. The lobsters really weren't all that great either smh
