Well said! Kibble is purely for convenience NOT nutrition. Everyone can do it, just start with small changes and keep going. There is a huge community of people who are out there to help from holistic vets, canine nutritionists, and social media platforms. Thanks Dan!
My husband and I had 3 dogs all medium size mixed breed. One died at age 20 and the other two at age 19. We fed dog food and plenty of table scraps, raw carrots and apples. We use to take them to the country and let them out of the jeep and they would run behind us. It was a blast! Seven years later...we finally got 2 more dogs and now I am trying to feed raw meat which I haven't done in the past.....and vegetables along with the dry processed stuff. You helped me cure one of my sweet girls from a chronic worm problem. Your advice is awesome. Appreciate all that you do.
Thank you for the story, lovely to hear. And glad I can help, so much appreciated. I do recommend you add probiotics to every meal to ease digestion of dry food with fresh food, just helps a lot. Probiotics: amzn.to/3xqa2i0 (if available) Good 2nd choice probiotics (available): amzn.to/3bRmEGe OR... If you want freeze dried greens with added probiotics and SO much more, try Green Vibrance: amzn.to/3cOgzLu I've been using it 20 years on me and the dogs. Here's an overview: vibranthealth.com/info-hq/green-vibrance-complete-overview/ Thought that might help.
Just finished "The Forever Dog" By Mr. Habib and Dr. Becker. This video correlates with what I read in the book. Both this channel and that book contain invaluable information. Great video! Please keep them coming.
Thanks Dan !!! Very helpful, Losing my first white shepherd was literally worse than losing my mother ! I sure like to give them the best chance for longer life. I have a ton of improvements to my new shepherd since joining your channel, Thanks 🌟 🙏
I had a Rat Terrier named Pixie and I lost her when she was 18 years old a few years ago. I was devastated when I lost her and I hope I learned from my mistakes made with her to help my new Rat Terrier Dory to live longer!
Sir , In the morning I feed my lab only 💯 gm of kibbles that too mixed with small amount of white rice and vegetables ( grean beans , carrots pumpkin) Afternoon : one whole white egg + 1/4th portion of yolk mashed with white rice and green gram dal Dinner : only white rice + green gram dal Regular exercise is our daily routine sometimes running and sometimes walking for 2km 3 days of a week I feed my lab 200gm of chicken / fish mixed with rice and green vegetables.. when I feed him chicken/ fish on that day strict no to kibbles !! I used to give season fruits as a treat Do I'm feeding in appropriate manner or do I have to makes some adjustments ? I will be highly obliged to get your guidance !!
Sounds pretty good to me. I know you only have white rice (brown would be better) but it's good energy food with the amount of exercise the dog gets. Lots of veg is good, roughly mash the veg before serving. If you can feed more chicken. Also feed more of the waste chicken parts. The guys that kill the checkens, maybe they can save you the heads, necks, feet and guts for a small fee. This is all great food for Labs (I've had 2 Labs in my life). If you can get free or very cheap chicken waste, use it instead of some of the rice/kibble.
Is it a good idea to put my dog on a keto diet? I saw the formula online and it contains no liver, heart, bones, etc, but use seaweed calcium, coconut oil. They didn't mention about supplements such as mushrooms or probiotics. Dogs can't make a choice of what to eat as we pawrents always make decision for them. I want to know if keto diet would help in cancer prevention later in life. My cream retriever is less than 2yr old, 31kg. I probably think too far ahead but just want to make sure he gets the best nutrition.
Good thinking to think ahead. A fresh food diet is key here. The dog needs lots of proteins at around 50% of meal is great, definitely below 10% carbs (carbs are inflammatory to dogs). Fat at 15% of meal with lots of omega 3's added to compliment the omega 6's naturally occuring in meats. Keto diet may be high fat.. don't go there, stick to 15%.
@@DanScott1 Thank you for your knowledge given. I'd like to know what's your take on the Green lipped mussel oil (Safe-Sea) and Organic Greens? Both are by Four Leaf Rover. Would those two be good for my pup? Since I've just purchased the plant base probiotics from them, as you have suggested in my other question from another vid.
GSD's are sensitive dogs and diet is important. The least I'd give a GSD is the Healtheir Kibble Diet. Take a look: healthydogforlife.com/feed-your-dog-better-book-by-dan-scott/
@@DanScott1 Sir , I had and thank you for the advice and tips but can tell some natural alternate for probotics because I am in India and the link shows not in stock and natural probotics is something which is easy to accquire and be trusted as it would have less toxic and because puppy is not well and I have consluted the Vet already .
@@TheJayzon Locally you can try lassie with no sugar, cooked and mashed veggies, banana, eggs, chicken, fish, garlic. And get some neem bark powder and add 1/4tsp to meals. If you cant find neem powder as the shops in India these days don't seem to sell any traditional meds then find a good neem tree and take some bark and ground it to make neem bark powder. Make sure the bark is dust free and clean before drying and grounding.
We have plenty of ticks at our place and I tried all tricks to get rid from ticks for my pet but Vet suggested me bravecto could you please tell what is solution for ticks
@@rupalideshmukh4746 I use the DE and neem oil and cedar oil and he recommended and it works. Look up his videos here under the playlist...and good luck:)
