Yes great protein for dogs. If it's raw, I freeze it first for two weeks so it's clean. Lightly cooked or raw after defrosting. if your worried about salmon being farmed (which is bad) use either wild sokeye or canned sardines are my favorite :amzn.to/3vaXrj6
Dr. Dan, just have to say thank you again! last year a vet wanted to charge me $1000 for antibiotics, an anti parasite, steroids, and allergy medicine, just throwing the kitchen sink at my dog for a yeast infection. which antibiotics would’ve made worse! After a little research, even I figured that out. She’s all good now thanks to your advice!! Keep making your videos, please, thank you thank you, thank you!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hemp seed oil is NOT cbd oil, which is made from hemp flowers and leaves.. There is next to no psychactive compounds in hemp oil. CBD oil maybe good for dogs too in specific cases, but be aware they will get 'stoned' from CBD oil unless it is denatured.
The diamond natural skin and coat all stage have this is this food considered grain free or not and do you recommend this food thank you for you information
Salmon, fish meal, potatoes, lentils, peas, pea flour, canola oil. These are the top ingredients, the third being potatoes which do not belong in dogs, nor does canola which is not a natural oil and legumes should be very limited in a canine diet (peas/lentils) The overall carbs in this diet are roughtly 45% which is high. I prefer under 10% but there's only one kibble that does that and it's premium price as you can imagine: healthydogforlife.com/KetonaKibble Options: Theres my ebook healthydogforlife.com/feed-your-dog-better-book-by-dan-scott/ which has the healthier kibble diet and what I recommend. Basically it's reducing the kibble in the meal and replacing with fresh food options to balance out the meal with live food (important) and reducing the carbs/additives.
@@chenty500 You may have missed my point. Carbs cause inflammation so keep under 10%. Rice a bad dog food. Diamond use 45% carbs. Either use it knowing you must split the meal in half at minimum and replace with fresh foods or get a better brand ie ketona but you have to pay for better kibbles. Please answer my questions for further help options.
@@chenty500 That's still 40% carbs and you'll need to at least 50% split the kibble meal with fresh food for a healthy option. Kibble alone does not make a good dog food, even the best option still needs some fresh food in it. Dogs need proteins for real health, it's natural carnivore law, think eggs, sardines, meats, organs, green tripe. I'd max at 50% kibble meal, the other 50% fresh foods.
What about leptospirosis vaccine & yearly booster Nobicac DHP for my Labrador is due, she goes in water and. muddy areas in woods sometimes is it necessary to have it !
I don't, I prefer to treat ie Oregano oil (antibiotic): amzn.to/3ulnF1T 1drop in tsp olive or coconut oil once daily in food for 5-11 days kills all these pathogens. Too much health issues with auto immunity from annual shots making the system soo sensitive. Not worth it to me. I'll be posting more videos in the autumn about this.
Hello Dan Thank you for this video I printed out the info Can I give my dog Brewers yeast with garlic for a natural flea preventative along with probitics and eynzemes? I'm also seeing the sardines that are being offered are made in Thailand or China I cannot find ones made Morroco.I will probably have to substitute with an oil.I have been using the Norwegian Alaskan Omega 3 for quit awhile daily. Is this ok?
@@dannyturner7967 Yes, Neem oil: amzn.to/3iV0Igq Mix it 1 part neem oil to 3 parts carrier oil ie coconut or olive oil. Dab on where needed to ward off fleas or impregnate a bandana as a collar for walks or in the yard. Safe for dog, good for skin, deadly for fleas/ticks/mozzies. There's a video on it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MMqCoWSD5zg.html (it's for worms but same for fleas) Plus this on flea and tick powder: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QRopjGcCUkc.html You can also add a couple drops of Eucalyptus oil to make it smell better as neem oil is a little garlicky/nutty smelling.
Hello Dr. Scott, I hope you are doing well. My dog has been doing great she’s 2 years old and eats a raw diet. She is up in the mountains right me right now and enjoying walks, this afternoon I felt a waterfluid like sac right under her neck it appeared overnight she definitely did not have this yesterday. She is a St. Bernard and drools a lot after she eats I’m not sure if it has to do with her salivary glands, or maybe a bug bit, I’m trusting in Jesus name she will be okay. Do you have any advice? Thank you so much for your videos God bless you.
Hi , my dog has ibd and was recommended on hydrolyzed protein - any thoughts ? She was on just food for dogs raw meal but has many flares ups... I would be happy to pay you for consultation because we are in a pickle with her condition... how can I reach you? Thanks
Hi, I refer you to this page: One to One Dog Health Email Consultation and Support Service: healthydogforlife.com/one-to-one-total-dog-health-service/ Re hydrolyzed proteins, it depends on the quality of the proteins and additives etc. I personally would work the more natural protein route based off current diet and health issues, first being to bring down gut inflammation.
The best thing to do is follow the protocol which is 14 days of X drops in food (according to dogs weight), stop 7 days, then a further 14 days and finished. Then check stools. From pinned comment: Wormwood Extract: amzn.to/2S8paBE NOTE: Give probiotics at every meal (ongoing) for great help with gut health: amzn.to/3xqa2i0 7lb Dog - 1 drop 12lb Dog - 2 drops 18lb Dog - 3 drops 22lb Dog - 5 drops 27lb Dog - 6 drops 35lb Dog - 7 drops 45lb Dog - 9 drops 55lb Dog - 11 drops 65lb Dog - 13 drops 80lb Dog - 16 drops 100lb Dog - 20 drops
First thank your videos My almost 12 year old GSD has been suffering with flea allergies on and off for about 5 years but the past 3 years have been the worst. It appears now to evolve into demodex We are doing the neem treatment you spoke about in another video as well as bathibg him with tea tree castile soap We have switched him to raw food diet that includes blueberries and greens Hoping to add this oregano treatment to his particularly bad areas
Oregano is great for infections as an antibiotic but for mange related issues, use Black Walnut, Clove & Wormwood Extract: amzn.to/2S8paBE Mix 1 part remedy to 3 parts carrier oil ie olive oil coconut oil, mix and massage in all over affected areas, leave on all afternoon, then wash off with dogs soap (castil). This will clear the skin of mites.
Hi Dan, I was wondering how often do I need to switch recipes when feeding? I know your ebook says once a week but I’ve just started him a week ago and was wondering if that still applies considering he’s just getting started ?
@@DanScott1 thanks so much! I’m noticing the yeast is already doing much better, he is still spitting up some but maybe still getting adjusted? One more thing I’m curious about , I’ve heard beans is bad for a dogs heart? Also if that’s not true is salt free can green beans ok? Can they be chopped small instead of mashed if so ?
@@shelliebuford3064 Beans arn't the best for dogs, tricky to digest. They need straight proteins like eggs, meats, organs, sardines. Go slow on any food/supplement addition as the gut needs to change its flora to the new foods.
@@DanScott1 ok, so on the recipes where it calls for green beans and or peas just leave those out? Sorry for all the questions but it’s all new to me and I’m eager to learn and become familiar with combining the good things for my little one and I’m scared to death of messing up . Thank you so much, you’ve been a huge lifesaver for me !
@@shelliebuford3064 Sorry, I thought you meant beans.. as in dry beans ie pinto. Green beans are ok as a veg, part cooked and blended/mashed first so they can be properly digested. Or you can replace veg altogether with freeze dried greens: amzn.to/49w0bKR Think proteins as the major food source at 60% of meals ie eggs, sardines, meats, organs, green tripe. 15% fats, 10-15% carbs, 10% veg

Perhaps think about a more fresh food based diet, either freeze dried raw (easy, expensive, best for small dog), home cooked or raw.. or a combination that works. Try some eggs, meats, sardines, greens, organs and see what she likes.
@@DanScott1 I tried the raw diet I had to throw $40.00 bag of frozen foods away along with freezes dry dog foods I don’t want to give him supermarket foods I don’t trust them, I buy all his foods @chewy & only organic freeze dry or raw to no avail 🤪😨🤬😱
I put this on my dog because her skin looked TERRIBLE! She was really suffering. The next day her skin began to scab which was really good. The next day all of the raised hotspots were flat and now she is truly healing. This is so much better than expensive chemicals from the vet . . . . Cheaper too.
When he mentioned Standard Process, I knew he was talking about the best! A young man in my area suppies S.P. with their natural soil supplements. I have been to his facility. It is impressive. Most good chiropractors recommended S.P. supplements. I take them.
I had 12 year dog was having a kidney infection. His treatment was going on, one day he ate another dogs poop, I feel or I have a doubt since then his health became more worsening, on 25 June 2024 after getting back from hospital (drips, n his blood was drawn for blood test) he had got a seizure attack, but he survived. And then he got his next seizure attack on 4 July 2024, and last on 8 July 2024 back to back, we were just getting him to the vet but on the way he was no more. I wanno ask because of eating that poop it happened. And 2 months before his death he ate a small piece of foam.
As you can appreciate, I have no overall health history to provide a proper answer. Kidneys take time to break down and there's contributing factors such as diet, vaccines, drugs and environment. I doubt the poop/foam eating is directly responsible, but just added to the issues causing the outcome. My condolences for your loss.
@@chetnabagga1281 Depends on the severity of the condition and whats done to alleviate the condition ie diet, treatments, lifestyle. A fresh food based diet and no drugs/vaccines is best for longevity.
@DanScott1 my 12 year 3 months pomerion (American excimo)dog died of seizure attacks. His treatment for CKD was going on. On 25 th Jun 2024, his blood was taken for tests and drips were also given but after getting back from the hospital, at home he was sitting normally but all of sudden his seizure attacks were started, it was first time I seen any seizure attack, but he was cured. He got 2nd seizure attack on 4 Jul 2024, then also he was cured on my touch but he was getting weaker n more weaker, his body shape was also changed. And last on 8 Jul again he was getting seizure attacks back to back, we were getting him to the vet but in middle way after getting seizures back to back he was no more. I feel so unsatisfied that why did his doctor not given or prescribed any medicine for seizure attacks. Are there no medicine for seizure management in ckd case 😥😭 ?
@DanScott1 n one more thing, in oct 2020 Lucky (my pomerion dog) was started getting blood in his poop, earlier we did not understand. He was 8 years old at that time. We observed for 4-5 hrs n took him to hospital then he was recovered after 2 visits n was well but since 2023 we found him little weak n lethargic, his legs were getting weak n at once we saw him walking like a crab as his legs were weak we took him to the hospital n Dr prescribed some RBC syrup, okay we were giving him now he was okay but again his condition was getting started worse in Jan 2024 n Dr suggested for his blood test n CKD was detected. N when his blood was drawn his blood was like pink in color, his treatment was going on ( missed April month due to some emergency) again his blood was drawn at 25 June 2024 but the blood color was looking fine, red In color, his reports had some improvement than earlier but after getting back from the hospital on same day he was getting seizure attacks but it was cured, 2nd seizure it was got cured on 4 jul 2024 n last on 8 July, the last seizure was very severe back to back n he got died. 😥
Please Please Please...Heartworms can kill your dog! Go to your actual Veterinarian and seek professional treatment if you know or suspect HEARTWORMS! Depending on number, size and if they are present in lung xray, there is an entire protocol that needs to happen, involving so many weeks of an antibiotic given and a steroid (done prior to the first of 2 actual injections). This is serious. I learned much because I volunteer at a rescue and have had to deal with so many intakes testing positive for HW. I ask lots of questions when vetting dogs, so.... Reason for the regime of medications prior to first shot is to treat dogs environment to best prepare for the toxic load that will circulate in their system as those worm(s) are killed off. This is for what is known as the "fast kill" method. We have always used this instead of the slow kill method because if i recall correctly, slow kill is used if only one or 2 worms present and not in lungs. The poor dogs we get in are usually loaded. Best to use a monthly prevention so your dog is not at great risk to suffer this horrific situation. Good luck.
No. Use Milk Thistle - for Healthy Liver Function in Dogs : Essential detoxification support for dogs with liver dysfunction, pancreatitis, taking medications: shrsl.com/3uv63 And use greens powder: amzn.to/49w0bKR in food. And give a diet, the majority of which is fresh foods ie meats, eggs, veg, sardines and organs. Real informative video. I went and purchased the Vibrance Greens like you recommended. I have a Maltese that is 11 years old and weighs 15lbs, how much of it do I give her? Thx
@DanScott1 My dog has lymphoma so I wondering do I give it to her 6 days on and 1 day off? Will dandelion help and if so do I give it at the same time with green vibrance?
I just received the report of my fur baby. He's ALP is 216, and the Creatinine level is 1.6. Im so heart broken as im feeding my boy only home cooked food for decade lightly cooked beef, olive oil, turmeric, moringa leaf raw juice etc. He's been having foul smell in urine for quite sometime. Started him on oregano oil, lately he started having frequent urination. Im disappointed. He's on Gardenal 30mg for 3 years. I started him on magnesium glycnate. Should i keep giving him oregano oil ? Is the report value ALP -216 and Creatine 1.6 dangerous already? Can you please suggest what's the better way to treat naturally. He's 16 yr old.
I recommend giving Milk Thistle - for Healthy Liver Function in Dogs : Essential detoxification support for dogs with liver dysfunction, pancreatitis, taking medications: shrsl.com/3uv63 Oregano oil is my focus for infections not continuous use. Has the dog been having seizures? (gardenal use) I'd add more options to the diet ie sardines: amzn.to/3vaXrj6, raw organic eggs, some oregans ie liver and another meat option, not just beef. Use greens powder for all sorts of benefits including antioxidants, vitamins and minerals etc: amzn.to/49w0bKR Stay off any meds and vaccines as much as possible. Basically there's liver and kidney issues so better diet as suggested above, the greens, the milk thistle will help here. And take a break from the additional supplements you currently give. Give little and often drinks of plain coconut water and get some pink mountain rock salt or celtic salt and give a tiny pinch in the coconut water twice daily.
Its dangerously high in oxilate. I no longer give this hidden poisen thats in most of my food to my dog or my family. We noticed health improvements within weeks. The theory is sound but dogs do not need it.
A pleasure, Oxilates are the hidden health risk most never talk about. If an animal needs to reduce inflamation crated by poor nutrition, herbs are good. They are not food; they are, after all, medicine. If the cause of the inflamation is removed, then the herbs can be aleviated. Extra virgin olive oil has exceptional anti-inflammatory properties. My dog has a serving spoon full each day. My dog eats his body weight in meat each month (29 kg) in additons to lung liver and kidney with 30 eggs, inclusive of shells, a bag of peas, and half a kilogramme of lard. He runs 5 miles a day, and the vet cannot work out why he is so fit when not eating packaged kibble dog food... (I just slapped my own forhead.) Odin the Airdale just has that look of OK now what are we going to do on his happy face all day long. Thank you for all the info Dan.
@@elmafudd9703 I've done a little digging into oxalates and it's fairly complex. Just from what I have looked at, I'd still say it's underlying issues from diet/drugs that create most inflammation and that oxalates then become a burden on top as the kidneys are stressed. I basically don't think they are the cause, they potentially exacerbate the issues already at issue. I'll recommend cinamon/ curcumin next time for better balance. Love Odin's diet, what dogs should eat and yes, olive oil is excellent, I made a video about it. Thanks for sharing, prompted more research into oxalates.
Proteins, lots of proteins. Eggs, meats, sardines: amzn.to/3vaXrj6 and organs such as liver. And on top to finish completeness some freeze dried greens that have everything in such as probiotics, antioxidants, minerals, vitamins, adaptogens etc: amzn.to/49w0bKR

No it wont, sorry. Surgery is often needed to treat anal fistulas as they do not usually heal by themselves. There are several different procedures. The best option for your dog will depend on the position of the fistula and whether it's a single channel or branches off in different directions. Your vet will know more about this. I'd definitely want to keep it clean so there's no infection causing an abscesses. I'd consult with your vet and budget for possible surgery. Anal fistulas usually require surgery as they rarely heal if left untreated. The main options include: a fistulotomy - a procedure that involves cutting open the whole length of the fistula so it heals into a flat scar.
