& why do tariffs make a difference in filming please forgive my spelling Not my strong point
@TSGEnt
@TSGEnt 2 года назад
Sorry for the delay on this response. I just saw the comment. Rock on! As for the comment about tariffs; Follow the money. Video cameras were on a rise and when most video cameras come from Japan, the EU decided that significant tariffs should be charged for video cameras, but first they needed to define what is a video camera and what is not. During that quest, Eurocrats set an arbitrary time limit for continuous video. They created law stating that cameras capable of shooting 30 minutes or more of continuous video would be considered video cameras, and thus subject to significant tariffs that could cost hundreds of dollars more per camera, or for top end models, even thousands more per camera. That tariff goes to the EU. It's to raise money on a growing popular consumer device.

This was a cool episode. I am looking at getting one of these Ryobi 40 volt inverters to use as a backup or off grid power supply for my CPAP machine, run my internet modem/router, charge my phones and tablets and run a Coffee pot. Later on maybe get 6 pack 1800 power pack to run a microwave down the road.

I ended up returning three of these 40 volt inverter units to Ho,e depot because of either low AC voltage or the Hertz being 52 not 60 and even the last unit some how interfered with a Roku tv adapter not working with it but every other power adapter worked with it. I wanted it to work so bad.

I use my moderately weak 150 watt Ryobi 18v inverter for my carry on HP inkjet printer and scanner for carry on for my business to clients . Especially useful when using in buildings has no electricity connected. The plus side is that I can use it in the car, van, train, or SUV as well without using a car inverter adepter plug into the cigarettes lighter port. At home I can plug a house fan or LED table light during hot days in city wide power outage. Use it to charge cellphone and AA or AAA batteries for other portable battery 🔋 devices. Downside: It can't be use for cooking or boiling water. Can't be use for power tools unless it's a really weak and small tool.

In reference to the winter storm here in Texas, I'm wondering how long 1- 6ah battery will keep a heater on at low heat if at all. Or if summer heat shuts us down same question for a fan?
@TSGEnt
@TSGEnt 3 года назад
To begin with, be sure "low heat" is under 300w. 300w has a draw of 2.5 amps. The math tells us 6Ah with a 2.5 amp draw will last 2.4 hours. That's just the math of it. The practicle well, your mileage will very. Hope it helps.

@@TSGEnt 216 Wh = 216W for 1 hour. 2.5A x 120V = 8.3A x 36V (battery nominal voltage). Efficiency of the inverter is around 90% so I would say 30~40 min.
@cameranmanner4701
@cameranmanner4701 3 года назад
@@CookiePepper That inverter will not support a heater. The typical heater that runs 1500w with a high/med/low setting will exceed the 300W limit of this inverter.. Even if you happen to find a 300W heater which is probably useless would give a run time of the 30 min. more like 20 min

Hello, We have just bought a 40 2AH lithium battery to use with a 600 PSI power washer. We used it three times now and it only lasts 20 minutes before having to charge it. Is their something wrong with battery? The battery came with power washer. Thanks Al.
@TSGEnt
@TSGEnt 2 года назад
I've had my 2 batteries for a couple years now, and use my mower every week and both batteries are doing well. Same capacity and duration. I also use them, as you see in this video, often. How long were your batteries lasting before this issue, or have always been 20 minutes? I don't have a power washer so I'll ask how long does the manual say you should expect to have use? Also, be sure they are charged to full according to the manual and battery meters. I'd say if they are not in spec, get with customer service to possibly have them replaced. Where did you buy it?
@alstreicher9505
@alstreicher9505 2 года назад
@@TSGEnt just bought power washer and battery in April, 2022. The battery only lasted 20 minutes all 3 times we used it, no longer ever. Bought at Home Depot - power washer battery combo.
@TSGEnt
@TSGEnt 2 года назад
@@alstreicher9505I don't have the power washer so I can't tell you how long the battery will last in that device. My mower will run for about 45 minutes but if it has to work hard due to long grass and resistance to the blade, it will run a bit shorter. It could be the power washer just really uses up the battery and all you'll get is 20 minutes per charge. I'm using the 6AH battery, you say you have a 2AH battery. That's only 1/3 the current of the batteries I use. That leads me to believe that's issue. You may only get 20 minutes with a 2AH battery. Theoretically, a battery with a capacity of 1 amp-hour should be capable of providing a continuous current of 1 amp to a load (the device or appliance using power) for exactly 1 hour before becoming discharged. The same 1 amp-hour battery could alternatively provide a continuous current of 2 amps to a load for a half-hour. Or it could provide ⅓ of an amp-hour to a load for 3 hours. You get the idea. If you got a 6Ah battery you should get about an hour on that washer, if it consumes 6 amps over the course of an hour.

Maybe leaving the pack to fully discharge over the winter causes it to fail in the spring! Has anyone tried leaving the pack in the charger all winter long on trickle charge? Will this help maybe? Thoughts?
@TSGEnt
@TSGEnt 3 года назад
As far as I can tell the charger doesn't "trickle charge" when left plugged in. These are Li-Ion batteries and will hold a charge for a very long time when not in use. No need to "trickle charge" I had them unused for a few weeks this winter and they delivered a full charge the next time I used them.That's my experience anyway. I too and curious to hear if anyone else has an experience they would care to share.

@@TSGEnt Lithium batteries don't mind the cold as much as heat. I'm just getting into 40V and have this inverter, but my Ryobi 18V batteries are kept in my unheated pole barn over winter and hold their charge fine. They will always lose a little total charging capacity over time (single digit percentages) but less in cold than if kept in summer temps. I bring my batteries indoors in summer. I came across an article about the percentage capacity loss over a year at cold and hot ambients, but lost track of it. It also helps to leave them at 50% charge, though who does that!? I intend to use the 300W to run my Ryobi hybrid air cannon in my greenhouse (longer than using an 18V battery) and to run my LED lights in the unpowered pole barn, which is my workshop. Saves running the generator just to see!

Looks like Ryobi is developing some QC issues. Mine have been lasting a full hour as a Lawnmower battery and as much as 4 hours running the 3 camera shoot. I thrrow a switcher and monitor for a live mix and I get 2hours continuous per battery. I'm getting concerned. Thanks for reporting you issues here. Be sure let Ryobi know of you concern.

@@davidcrawford6505 Hi David. Which lawnmower did you return? Mine is a Model # RY401110-Y brushless 20” which I purchased in March of 2021. So far I have had no problems with it, and it does quite a nice cut on my lawn. My yard is not that big so I get about 3 or 4 cuts out of a single charge. It replaced a craftsman corded electric 18 inch mower. The Ryobi is better in every way. But I don’t think it will have the ruggedness of the Sears craftsman mower. Not having a power cord to trip over and run over and cut is so great!

The 216W is very telling. If it was really 40v you would get 240W. The reality... the output voltage is 36v giving you the 216w rated output on the battery. The battery last so long because the applied load is very low. What you can do is look at the power consumption of each device and add the total and you can get a idea how long your run time would be.
@TSGEnt
@TSGEnt 3 года назад
I appreciate you bringing that up. I have stuck a meter on the output of the battery and I get 40v (no load). That tells me if it's rated at 216Wh, I can draw 5.4Ah. Underload I can imaging voltage may drop a bit, but all I really care about is if the inverter is going to give me 120vac and putting a tester to it I get 123vac consistantly. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zHEebUKBSU0.html I never rely on the math to tell me if it will actaully do what I want. That's just theory, and theory can tell me if it come close to practicle and worth my trouble. I always test in real life before assuming theory to be correct (it's theory afterall right?). What I do know is it will give me the power needed for duration required to complete my requirements because I testeded it in a real life situation before the actual needed event. When i used it at teh event, it delivered just my test in the video.
