Nothing that is easy is worth doing or will make a significant, lasting change in your life. Successful people always have one thing in common, they work hard, every day, every month, every year.
If I spend another year in a factory I'm gonna jump under the forklift. It's study or die time ☠️ Goal is grind 5hrs a day, each and every day. I'm assuming my dumbass needs 1400 hours of raw study to get my little toe in the door.
I quit my previous career in November 2016 to become a developer and I've only just got my first job in March 2018 and I'm smart. It takes fucking ages and is really hard. Unless you are determined to do It, I wouldn't even bother trying
I dropped out of uni, because I couldn't handle it anymore. I was studying web all the while. It took me 2 years before I got offered a job; not an internship, but a job, a real job, an "I make twice the average salary" job. I will start on 1. December. I'm moving out in a couple of days. And it all stemmed from just that one idea. I don't believe that it's never late, sometimes, it's quite obvious when your boat has sailed, but if you're in university/college and just can't handle it anymore, start doing this in your free time, and you just might make it like I have
So, I did the calculations. Based on what he said (once you've done about 1,000 hours) here's how long it would take to reach that 1,000-hour mark and be job-ready, depending on how many hours you devoted a day. 1 hour/day = 1,000 days (143 Weeks) (33 Months) (2 3/4 Years) 2 hour/day = 500 days (71 Weeks) (16 Months) (1 3/10 Years) 3 hour/day = 333 days (47 Weeks) (10 Months) (4/5 Year) 4 hour/day = 250 days (36 Weeks) (8 Months) (3/5 Year) 5 hour/day = 200 days (29 Weeks) (7 Months) (3/5 Year) 6 hour/day = 166 days (24 Weeks) (6 Months) (1/2 Year) 7 hour/day = 143 days (20 Weeks) (5 Months) (2/5 Year) 8 hour/day = 125 days (18 Weeks) (4 Months) (1/3 Year) 9 hour/day = 111 days (16 Weeks) (4 Months) (1/3 Year) 10 hour/day = 100 days (14 Weeks) (3 Months) (1/4 Year) 11 hour/day = 90 days (13 Weeks) (3 Months) (1/4 Year) 12 hour/day = 83 days (7 Weeks) (2 Months) (1/5 Year) Weeks, months and year numbers were rounded to the closest decimal.
So You think a traditional Paper Credential such as a degree is not necessary? Can you actually get a real job based on a portfolio alone? I find that very motivating. I started learning HTML and CSS about 10 years ago and gave a good effort for about 6 months. Then I gave up and moved on but now all these years later I have suddenly decided to dive back in not to get a job but to round out My creative knowledge. Been studying Video editing, Graphic design with illustrator, photoshop, and after effects......Should I try to add a little bit of web design/development into my bag of tricks. This is all for my own personal creative pursuits. Does anybody use Dreamweaver anymore??? lol doesn't seem like it.
I have solid portfolio , i have learnt these languages , html css, javascript, jquery, bootstrap , git and github source control as well, portfolio link zuber13.github.io/ , but i am not being able to get front-end developer job, how to get that , please reply soon:)
It took me 3 weeks to learn html, and understand css, but I'm not any good yet, I'll starve for it, I got old computer, no heating at home, no money, when I get shit job I'll buy kindle to read books, practice on udemy, RU-vid, I told myself to build every week 1 website, and learn true w3 schools, this is all I got there is no way out.
What you mean with good portfolio?? Just a bunch of app and website done by you on your laptop or real client portfolio?? Ps: I did computer engineering and it has nothing to do to becoming a web developer.
There was a time I was contracted as a freelancer instructor for a coding bootcamp, and the most typical sales pitch for that place is "train to become a software engineer in 3 months", what a straight up scam. even with intense learning pace, 3 month is barely enough to introduce the framework and environment in general.
Always remember we must repent of our sins (sin is transgression The Law Of Yahuah The Father in Heaven. The Law are The Books: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, & Deuteronomy). We must repent of our sins and Have Belief On Yahusha The Messiah. HE Died and Rose three days later so that we can be forgiven of our sins! Come to HIM🙂🙂🙂
Took me 2 years to get in salary $2 above minimum wage on my current place its better than nothing. I really need the experience thats what Im after as of now. Will start on Tuesday next week wish me luck
Im going to attend the bootcamp of full stack web development for 3 three months with 8 hours a day!! Hope I can make it. I've just quitted my job as a banker a week ago. Really big decision to make guys :(
@@myothercarisadelorean8957 not sure about huge income, depends on which position and bank. I have worked in several foreign banks: anz, citi, uob, shinhan, but I still feel empty man, like no meaning to wake up and go to work at all.
I just need to know how to code a landing page (frontEnd) and maybe some backEnd for makeing a contact form and a shop . What are you suggesting ? I am thinking to start to learn HTML CSS and PHP .
@whatsdev dude you say we dont need degrees like CS or go to university but seriously, you probably have one, many people like you say you dont need degree or college but you all have it anyway ffs contradiction!
Wait a minute : I've been coding 20 straight hours for like 4 months (Exception of when I learnt html and css) And I haven't still landed a job. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Its possible however, I'm afraid that spending so much time on coding may was bad, you would be tired, you would probably learn too fast and your mind would struggle to memorize everything, while when you go slow you can learn few things per day, play with these, restudy old stuff whenever you think you are forgetting and I think thats good, 3 hours per day should be fine, but it will probably take years to become a good developer.
@@ChandravijayAgrawal I've made a few websites on my own now. Getting better. Busy summer, multi bdays, a tree fell on my car. Lost a job gain d another.
I start d learning 3 weeks ago. I expect to be good enough to look for a job , in about a year . I know that I will keep learning even after I get that job , I somehow convinced myself ,that this is not for me , and never tried to learn coding , the first lesson I did , I was like , "oh hell , can't do it ", now 3 weeks later , I am like " why did I not try years ago ? " , I love it . I will first master HTML/CSS , and then try something else .
1000 hours going on the light end bro, but I love the motivation. If you’re keyboard yammin 10 hrs day, you’ll show up to the park and get picked on the team within 6 mos... with that said, there’s no easy way around the shit, annoying when people say otherwise. You still end up learning many cs things along the journey ie paradigms, basic algorithm complexity, etc... Much more attainable when looked at as learning a language though than being next Turing or some mathematical genious (but believe me, you’ll learn where to ‘find’ the maths that’d be needed to solve x problem... a lot of this is just knowing where to look for the right solutions, cause they’re out there)... appreciate you motivating cats
Hello , I want to share my history with you , I was studying medicine and i was disapointed a lot with what the health care has to offer me in the future (I am form Poland and health care here has ... al lot of issues) i was interested in IT too so after huge research and doubt i decided to drop out the college. I already had some knowledge about coding but only basic stuff in c and c++ , It took me six months of hard work to get my first job in java backend developing. I just got my contract and I am about to begin so keep yours fingers cross ! :]
Molekuła X szanuje,ja wlasnie ide teraz na prawo,a wczoraj zaczalem nauke pythona. Mysle tez o javie i froncie, ale poki co przez pierwszy rok chcialbym rozwinac sie w pythonie. Trzymam kciuki tez :D
What u said I think make sense, if coding is that easy where u will learn by just investing few hours for three months then I think we wouldn’t see company paying 100k+ for someone got something that easy . 1000 hours simply means someone spare all his day and effort for three or four months which is really quite hard
devcodecamp in Milwaukee. I'm halfway through the bootcamp, and I'm amazed on how much I've learned through 6 weeks. HTML,CSS, C#, and MySQL. Going onto ASP.Net soon. The amount of hours I put in is all worth it if you love to solve problems, and just have a passion for it.
I know this is an old video but I'd say start coding and don't put pressure on yourself to be a master and land the job in a few months. Code when you can and make it a consistent part of your routine.
Okay yea, you need to mention that you probably can learn web dev in a month or two weeks or so, spending 4 hours a day IF you have a background in development.
Thanks for the content whatsdev, I really appreciate it! Unfortunately I can only devote 26.5 hours a week to this because I work a full time job. It'll get done, consistency is a must!
i started learn coding from 1998 just HTML at that time then ASP PHP Java Script , C, Java, Python... today a lot of java script frameworks like nodejs react, angular, vue ..... bla bla ..... everything take time you have to know some language as basic before you go get skills from boot camp or online course..... but for me self thought i prefer.
I got my first job 10 days after I finished my Bachelor's Degree. I'm currently working as a fullstack developer. Maybe it's also a matter of how you connect yourself from people who can potentially hire you in their company.
Yeah, going into this, I ain't going to expect to know enough in three months to get a job. I'll go HAM on it for a year, which sounds about right. Going by 20 hours a week = 80 hours a month. 1000/80 = 12.5. So a year and a half.
This is a very accurate opinion. Listen to him guys, this is the solid truth. As someone else said this 1000hr rule does indeed make a lot more sense. I went to a front-end course at the beginning of this year and let me tell you something. It was 3 months and at the end of these 3 months i was nowhere near feeling confident in my skills. My new plan is to code everyday for at least 2 hours a day and when I reach summer 2019 I'll have solid knowledge.
i dont have experience in any programming language so i started in doing HTML and CSS courses.. like i'm already coding for 2 months but nothing happens.. it really takes months, years to learn coding..
I've always had an interest for PC's, ever since I was 6 I started with my first PC. Been watching a tooons of videos about programming / different programming and the interest is there! I've never programmed myself before or even tried it at all, but i'm thinking about getting my grades in order to apply for a 2year- webdevelopment course. I am 26 years old right now. Do you think I can do it? :) Greatful for answers!
So, if I put in 1000 hours with solid hard work, pushing projects on github every single day, can I not go to a college or a bootcamp and still get hired? Thanks so much for this video
currect dude, actually now-a-days world people are so lazy, he should require quickly anything. but programming is just a Mathematics, and Maths cannot get easily like wise programming is not just 3 months course,.
Hi brotha, I want to be a web developer and would like to start as a frond end one. I have a job right now as an ITSD but I want learn webdev for freelancing. I'm from Philippines btw, I already have a background in development backend one, I worked before for a fintech company, we develop banking software and I'm supporting the backend. Do you have a video or can you suggest some tips on how I will start, learnings that I need to learn and how can I tell that I'm ready to get projects as a freelancer.
Hell... 1,000 hours seems way LOW to me. I code a lot daily and I don’t feel I’m at all ready to get a job. Still in the process of learning HTML and CSS. I’m also a perfectionist and I’ll focus on one thing for hours on end
