What you are saying is different from what’s on the ground…. I’m in America with immigrant visa.. IR1 visa… I got my SSN in a week… Thinking I’m good to go… I went to do my state ID and drivers license.. I was denied because of green card… I showed them my visa and SSN but still told to submit my green card first… The same thing applies to job.. I was told to submit my green card before I can get a job.. I’m in Detroit.. Thanks

PLEASE HELP. I recently got my diversity visa in the mail and I went online on the UCSIS to pay for the immigrant fee before going to the United states. When I got to the end of the process and had payed I realised I didn't add the 2 extra digits to my DOS number (case id number). During the dv process I never had these two numbers until I got my visa back. It was my mistake and I am not sure what to do now. I have contacted USCIS and they said soemone will contact me but was just wanting your input if you had any ideas. I really like your honestly so any input of what you think would be really appreciated

You only need to provide the information from your USCIS IMMIGRANT FEE HANDOUT. The number from the diversity visa comes with 2 extra numbers for everyone, normally they are 01 or 02. Information online says you dont need the last 2 digits.

Contact USCIS. You should be good if your visa hasn't expired or you might need a stamp.

Once your visa is endorsed by CBP officer, your visa is expired and will be replaced by the green card

Hello! My wife and i got married in 2015. We started the process immediately. After 2 years, she got the first green card. When you get the first, its only really good for 2 years. After 2 years you have to what they call “petition for removal of conditions”. You have to prove that you are still married and the marriage is legitimate. Once you remove conditions, your green card is permanent with you only having to send in money to renew green card every ten years. Fast forward to 2022 and we are STILL waiting for removal of conditions. My wife has been stuck in between status for 5 years! In fact, she has waited so long that she is eligible to apply for citizenship, which is what we are doing now, without ever getting the full time green card. Its a long road and we will never know exactly how long it takes because once we applied for citizenship, they stop the green card process and start you on the citizenship process.

That shouldn't be a problem. Not every state has a major international airport but you take a connecting flight.

After the interview, the embassy gives you a paper with a link where you pay online to USCIS, and the fee is $220 per person, even if there is a child of one day old. You can pay before you fly, or after arriving

Hey! I know you posted this a year ago, but after all of the form fees, biometrics, etc, we are approximately 3-5 thousand dollars in. It took roughly 2 years to get the green card but it “expires after two years”. They call this removal of conditions. You get the first green card, then after two years you have to petition to activate it permanently. We have been waiting so long in the removal of conditions phase (3+ years), still dont have the permanent green card. Its a long drawn out process.

It’s possible as long as you get a very good job and that company first gives you work visa H1 visa then after 2.5 years renew the permit and thereafter can sponsor you for green card; or in case you meet someone fall in love and get married, you will be able to get green card
