How long do you think it should take to obtain title deeds? Is 2 months too long or just about right?

I think we should not try to justify inefficiency. I have been processing a title which fits in the “best case scenario criteria” I kid you not, I’m over a year in the process. Yes unexpected circumstances like bereavements happen but there is never one person in an office, in that case even other services like banking or health would fail because life happens to all of us. Things simply need to change and for that to happen we must voice out respectfully but truthfully. I think people in my situation are even ready to pay for alternative services which will still go through the same process and shouldn’t be the case. We need to strive for excellence.

I feel you Ireen, one year is not a joke. It must be incredibly frustrating. I hope you're making progress to resolving whatever the bottleneck is.

It's required when lodging the documents at the Ministry to obtain your title deed

I think in a well functioning bureaucracy a month should be more than enough. But generally things tend to happen at a slow pace in Zambia. Especially for people that don’t have access to lawyers or someone from inside the institution. Great content btw Natasha!!

Very educative content, I have personally learnt a lot from this share. For me i think 2 months is a little too long, considering the 21st century strides and trends been implemented to automate a number of processes, However, i think sensitive issues such as acquiring property title must be done with all due diligence and attention to detail must be fully paid, hence, the two months period might just be well justified. Hopefully we can achieve both goals (shorter time for well processed titles) in the near future as we continue to grow as a nation.

2 to 3 months time to get a title deed is average because it can take that long in the west. I'm more interested in land for agriculture than to own a home in a neighborhood. Do you have information on that process? Thanks!

It shouldn’t take 2 months to get title deeds. System failure for the Revenue Authority undermines revenue generation. We are now living in the Big Data Age, Cloud Computing and Network Virtualisation and I don’t see why the government systems that are designed to bring in revenue and order should go down. They need to be built with resiliency and Disaster Recovery in place. It happens a lot at the border controls where customers including myself have been stuck for days on end in the past due to ZRA systems failures or unavailability. It should take 2 weeks max.
@BuyingPropertyinZambia

Yes they really need to work on reducing that down time

Thanks for sharing such informative data. I think 2 months minimum is too long and unnecessary. Shows inefficiency. Question: Do you need to obtain separate titles for subdivided plots that are joined together and on the same offer letter, or is possible to get one title deed for all?
@BuyingPropertyinZambia

Hey Kelvin thanks for watching and commenting. I don’t think I've fully understood the question, I'd need more information. I would encourage you to seek legal advice.

@@BuyingPropertyinZambia Thanks. Basically, if you buy 2 plots that are next to each other, can they be put on one title, or do you need separate titles? I've an offer from Zambezi diamonds...
