I'm almost a year in (a little over 11 months) and I can change my piercing without any pain. There's no swelling or the crusty bits coming from it so I call that a win

Got my helix yesterday and in the middle of the night I woke up with the instant feeling to throw up and my ear was on fire, so I definitely grabbed it in my sleep. Ran to the bathroom and felt light headed and my body was so hot haha I was fine so don't let that scare someone away 😂😂😂😂

Sleep on my helix side like, the only part of my head touching the pillow is the upper side almost back of my head so I let my ear hanging and not touching anything, its very tricky but once you get a hang of it its easy, also Im sleeping more upright.

I do that as well but I just have to be very vigilant and trust me, if you sleep on a fresh helix piercing you’ll know it instantly it hurts.

I accidentally slept on the side of my 1 week old piercing and it still hurts like a b*tch and is currently swelling. My dvmbass also sprayed alcohol in it twice. Now I really need to follow the instructions for it to heal easily.

No way! I actually slept on my one week old piercing and woke up frantic and quickly applied the aftercare solution, hoping that the irritation would go back which of course it did but now it hurts so bad when touched

Just sharing my experience, I did helix piercing 9 months ago and i told you it is suck. As many said it took forever to heal. As hijabis im personally dont recommend you as when you are wearing inner hijab the ear got pressed for a long time which lead to headache. After 6 months of struggling with helix piercing as it gives swollen, bleeding, hard to sleep and cause me a lot of headaches, I decided to take off the piercing. Im more peaceful now 😂

I got mine done for almost 8 months but it's still hurting from time to time. It's infected earlier and I removed it, cleaned out some blood and then took a long time to put my bar/stud back in.

@nikitapatra4171 it's not everyone! I did mine myself last month. It's a bit sore when I snag it with my hair or lay on it but otherwise fine. Just a bit of crust occasionally that I have been able to remove. I'd recommend doing a salt water soak or something the first few days at least. I'm actually here to see how long it usually takes to heal cause I'm hoping to switch it out🤣

It doesnt take 3 months for anyone. it heals from outside to the inner skin, and it might look healed but its not.

Everyone’s ears are different in healing with 3 months it might not be fully healed but you can maybe still change it

My piercing studio sells piercing pillows (they look like a donut). 2 days after I got my helix done, I went back and bought one. Saved my so much pain!

Mine almost four months, not healed completely and still sensitive but I don't sleep on it, well not sure but I don't think so because if I do I always wake up but I read somewhere it could be a year or longer...

What i noticed about this piercing is you must clean it 3-4 times a day with saline spray compared to the other piercings or it can get easily infected

Uhh I have no idea why but somehow my current helix is taking so long to heal, I hate it. I got my first helix pierced when I was like 16, I had longer hair, didnt really take that good care of it and yet it healed in 2-3 months COMPLETELY but then I got another helix pierced this September and it's been 8 months, I take good care of it, I clean it, I do my best not to sleep on it, not to touch it with clothes and it's still not healed, its so annoying I'm considering taking it out

I’m scared I got my helix piercing 2 weeks ago and I’ve been sleeping on it fine with zero pain, I got it done professionally w a needle, been cleaning it w saline spray stuff, and I’ve had zero blood or any discharge come from it, should I be fine sleeping on it I need help?💀💀

I just got mine done today. Also professionally done with a needle. Could you please tell me how you took care of it on the first day/s my piercer told me I could start cleaning it with liquid soap and water from the first day, but honestly I'm scared to touch it so soon. I keep reading that it shouldn't be touched, but the guy who pierced me told me it should be moved back and forth during cleaning. I'm not sure if he meant eventually.

I never got an infection because I didn't touch it for a long time, I just sprayed it with saline water twice a day, I didn't sleep on it for 2 months, I avoided getting any hair conditioner on it, I kept my hair up most of the time to avoid it getting caught on it. Everyone I personally know has had a horrible experience with their helix piercing and it's because they don't care about being careful and taking care of it.

A bump on the helix is pretty common, there’s a solution you can buy specifically for these bumps keloid/bump treatment. Some sources also advise to soak in warm water with a cotton pad or a Camomile tea bag for 5-10 mins, wash it with aftercare solution and then dry it - repeat everyday until the bump goes away

Using a gun on cartilage can cause shattering which will often deeply affect the possibility of properly healing 😭.

@@ashlen8717 Literally hit the year mark and just took mine out 20 minutes ago. It was so swollen on the back and the front constantly had an irritation bump. Honestly, I think it was doomed from the start. I sent pics to my piercer and he told me to take it out after I let him know I was considering it already because it refused to heal. This is the first piercing I’ve ever had to take out and I’m super bummed. Should be okay in about a month to repierce, but damn. Stubborn piercing for sure.

I love the way they look, but I hate the healing process (especially since i made 4 in one go on my right ear) It's nearing 3 months and i catch myself sleeping on that side at times... it's doesn't hurt much, but I get bumps (come and go) and sometimes it bleeds or secretes a transparent yellowish puss...

I had my second left cartilage the piercing did not hurt I swear blind no pain. However My stone came out of my jewellery you would think for safety they would just take it out. But they said its up to me and keep it for the initial healing period and then take it out. I might find a stone to pop in. Or go to professional piercer.

Poke it w sterilized Needle the clean it w cotton ball or gauze w hydrogen peroxide then make a water sea salt tea tree oil paste and apply that paste every night for a week voila!

I think I slightly knocked mine now only the back is swelling. When will the irritated swelling go down though it's not swollen but I'm anxious 🥲

man I always knock mine its been almost a month since I got it but my healing process seems fast, I knocked mine with a bottle of 2 liters cola and damn boy it hurts! The swelling is normal I believe, Just always clean it.

@@nanana-965 yeah, after you get it pierced, it'll still hurt for a few days. It gets better, but if you keep moving it before it's healed it'll hurt still.
