+Marielle L (CocoLateAngel) I would just wait a month or two before getting the second piercing if you don't think you can sleep on your back because it's the weight of your head will irritate the piercing make you get an infection and take longer to heal
AFTER CARE: 4 teaspoons of non-iodized sea salt poured into 1 gallon of distilled water. Pour solution into a coffee cup, microwave for a few seconds, and soak ear into solution for 10-15 min.
As someone with 9 piercings in total (Lobes, doubles, Helix, Rook, Conch, Belly button and Daith) here is how I’ve taken care of them: Even though some cartilage can take about 3 months to heal, it won’t be fully matured, so even though it’s a pain in the ass, still continue to wash/soak every piercing in saline solution every day. A good little trick is to buy a travel sized spray bottle and make your own ‘on the go’ salt spray with a few drops of tea tree oil and spray your piercings a few times a day. If you did an oopsie like me and got piercings on both ears and now have trouble sleeping, do yourself and your sleep schedule a favour and buy an airplane pillow, this allows you to sleep on your side with your ear fully secured away in the hole in the middle.
@@yetzyreyes9921 Just pat it dry, the few drops of tea tree oil mixed in with the spray solution helps keep the piercing sight moisturised and is an antibacterial so just pat off the excess water and you should be good :)
I got my cartilage pierced in both ears yesterday and a tip I learned for those of us who can only sleep on our sides is to either get a travel pillow or to get a clean towel, roll it up and place it in a upside down U shape on your pillow it’s super comfortable and keeps you off the piercings :)
@@Esalem81 The only reason to use sea salt over TS is due to TS usually containing Dextrose, sugar, which can cause a yeast infection. Still, the amount of Dextrose is so small that it doesn't truly matter.
I got a triple flat helix last week and I feel like all my energy and my immune system is focused on healing the cartilage. I’ve become a wimp lol so I’ve been sleeping earlier and I’ve been getting tired easily because of the piercings. My hair does get caught on the back and it hurts! But I love it! I’m a wait until it’s fully healed then I’ll get the next ear done! 😂
What I do is I put my hand under my head but put my ear between my thumb and index finger so my ear is not touching anything. It has worked for me I hope it helps someone else :)
@@In_Charge712 I do something similar! I sleep on my arm and let my ear sorta hang in that space between my arm and my pillow so that I don't lean on it
It took me a year to fully heal my first cartilage piercing. I just got a second one on the same side, sometimes if I really feel like I have to lay on the side that is healing them I use a U shaped neck pillow and put my ear in the hole and the round curve of the pillow supports my head.
I had my helix done 2 weeks ago, it didn’t hurt when it was pierced and didn’t hurt after and still doesn’t hurt. Feels like it’s healed, no problems at all with it.
I got mine done about 3 and a half months ago. I stopped cleaning it after about a month because I ran out of solution which is super bad I know! I didn't sleep on it when I first got it done but now I occasionally I sleep on it but it doesn't hurt at all! And like maybe once every two days I touch it and it feels a little sore but not a lot. I'm picking up some cleaning solution tomorrow, wait till it doesn't hurt when I touch it and switch the stud because you cant really see it in my ear! This was a useful video thank you
I just got a double helix on my right side yesterday. Soooo glad I chose to only get one side done because I also got my second lobes done and it was already hard to sleep on the one (I’m a side sleeper). I think I need to get a travel pillow.
Got a helix along with 2 upper lobes yesterday. Hurt like hell and bled a shit ton, but the bleeding stopped and I’m feeling great! The needle scared me a bit, but I’m the only one in my school with stretched ears & a cartilage piercing. I love sticking out lol!
I got mine done today it's painful and my right side is the best side I sleep on and I have to sleep on my left 😭 I have a small bar in my right ear! And yes there is room for it to swell
Kissland Angelic' It did hurt less than I expected actually. I would say 2/10 when the needle pierced the cartilage. Then my ear was swollen and numb for about a week. Pain is subjective. I usually don't bear well the pain but it was manageable.
it took me an entire year to heal (+ get rid of keloids) on my industrial and tragus. and that was before I was able to take them out. My tragus swelled up to double the thickness of my unpierced one and it never went down so I can only wear rings. barbells are not an option for me. (tried barbells, unable to find anything that fits that area that isnt either too small or too big. Tried to put a barbell in once and it made me swell up and get more keloids.) And on my industrial, I got 'buffer'/'swelling' jewellery at 38mm and even after it's all healed, I can't go any smaller or else my ear will feel really tight and squished. also, my left lobe feels no pain, but my right lobe (whenever anything goes near it) hurts really really bad. I want to stretch but it hurts so much to put even normal earrings into my ears that idk if i'll ever be able to in that ear. (they were done with a gun when I was about 3. Would've got them done properly if I had the choice) I guess my body just doesn't like piercings lol
here because my piercer accidently pierced cartilage for my 3rd hole on my ears :') rip me update: that one hole still hasn't healed and has a large keyloid on it now. Every time i take that earing out and put it back in im poking the back through. Kinda thinking about taking it out, letting it heal up, and then getting it pierced again. triple rip me
I've had my cartilage piercings for 3 years now and they never healed... my piercer used a curved barbell and it ended up angling the piercing, caused hypertrophic scarring from irritation. My piercer also never told me I should downsize jewelry after the initial healing period; to top it all off, I turned out to be allergic to surgical steel (it DOES have nickel) and once again, when I brought this up with my piercer years ago, he insisted that it was the BEST material I can get and didn't let me switch it for something else. He said I was having problems bc I was messing with them too much... And the only reason I even found all of this out was because the tiny af barbell he put in got loose and the front slipped off, and I ended up visiting the nearby piercing studio where I'm currently at. The first thing that piercer told me was there's absolutely no way I can ever wear a hoop in that piercing bc of how much it's angled and suggested that it'd be best for me to let them close and re-pierce. The piercing studio (old) was recommended to me by tons of people and had a great reputation. Shows that you shouldn't trust a studio just because of their rep - at the time, I wasn't aware of the big 3 brands of body jewelry so I assumed he knew best, but if I'd known that surgical steel isn't always the best, I would've gone to a different piercer.
sleep with a travel pillow. The one that looks like a "U". If you sleep with that you can lay the piercing side down into that so your piercing doesn't get compressed.
i got mine done 1 week ago and i have been avoiding sleeping on it, touching it , over cleaning it. yesterday for the first time i accidentally hit it about like 2 hours later i felt the soreness , pulsation , & a head ache , i was in pain big time. today i woke up and it doesn’t hurt or pulsate it’s just sore to clean & red but not swollen.
I just took out my cartliage peircing on the top of my ear I've been wearing my carlitage piercing for about awhile more then 4 months and I just took mine out with scissors and i cleaned it with ear soultion that Claire's gave me and i cleaned it with cutips and cotton balls to make sure mine didnt get infected because it was hurting and sleeping on the side if my top ear was bugging me so I just took mine off
I got double helix piercings in both ears yesterday, and now I'm only able to sleep on my back... it was pretty silly of me not to have thought of it before, but I should've done one ear first and then the other. I wish my piercer would've advised me on that ☹️
I got two made by a pro. No bleeding, no swelling, no liquids, no pain, nothing. A month in now. It's only a bit tender when it gets twisted by accident. I just shower it a min or 2 daily, that's basically it.
Makayla Jackson So long as you don't mess with it AT ALL and treat it like a newborn child while cleaning it then you're chances of developing a keloid are low. Some people (like myself) are more prone to all different types of keloids, but that's just all the more reason to baby it until there's absolutely no pain.
Right. Keloids are due to a genetic thing and are rare and can only be removed with surgery. Irritation bumps are bumps that come up with irritation in the piercing, and they can go away after a cleaning, etc. Just try not to irritate your piercing and you'll be fine. :)
Wow my double helix was super varied heal time. One healed in 7 months and the other one is still not healed (going on year 2 soon). Sadly, I have upper lobe piercings that took longer than 2 months too.
Thank you for this video, I just got a daith piercing yesterday and am having trouble cleaning t as Im worried I may damage it. The hardest part for me is sliding the captive ring a bit. If anyone has any specific tips for daith piercings ;et me know.
Would you recommend a captive bead ring or a barbell? I've heard rings are more prone to infections and uneven healing but I'm not sure if that's true... I think a ring looks prettier but if it's higher risk I will take a barbell for sure
WOULD ANYONE KNOW what's happening to my piercing? i got a double helix last week. The second one (lower piercing) has a line around me ear, going to the back of the pricing.
I got two cartilage piercings about 7 months ago and they just finished healing completely. It took a while and a lot of patience and theyre finally at a point where they dont hurt at all anymore, and I'm looking to put a small ring in one of them, but I'm concerned about the ring getting caught on stuff more easily than the stud I have in right now. Anyone have any experience with this?
Does a conch piercing fall under this category’s for you have a separate video for that? I also wear glasses and notice it bumps my upper ear piercing when they slip down my note. Do you have any tips for that? I am hoping it doesn’t cause issues but I do clean my glasses so it doesn’t transfer any bacteria. I try my best to make sure it doesn’t fit but i can’t do much about it. Thank you for all your videos. They are very helpful! I plan to get my Daith this winter 😬
Hey man thanks for answering alot of the questions i had umm there is one i have i live in mexico and the only one that we have that everyone here is saying thats also good is himalayan salt is this a good option as well in your opinion
Can someone please help me? I had my industrial piercing about a month and a half i noticed to have two bumps one small one on the lower part and one bigger on the upper piercing . The thing is i cant find non iodized sea salt in lebanon so i went to a pharmacist and she gave me fucidin ( anti biotic cream) the bumps are slowly getting smaller but is this normal? And is there other way than sea salt to heal those bumps ? It's my first piercing i guess thats why im freaking out 😂
my cartilage piercing was fine for 4 days but today I woke up with it extremely red and painful. I'm not sure how it happened because I haven't had any issues with it till this morning. It still has not gone away and it throbbing even more now.
I made sure to go to a pro for my double helix and they said wait 6 months before switching earrings/to heal. Also to rinse with plain distilled water after the salt water. Any idea why their advice differed?
Recently got my helix piercing with a piercing gun (yeah, now I know :\). Does anyone have info about re-piercing the holes with a needle or is it best to just leave it alone? I still have the original earrings in.
Thank you. This was really informative. I'm thinking about getting my helix done shortly but I'm worried because of sleeping as I toss and turn at night without being aware of it. Is it worth getting done or is it too much of a risk?
i did my double helix about 1 week ago. It stopped hurting too bad and the swelling went down after the first few days but now it’s swelling up bad and looks very irritated but i don’t see any signs of infection...i did what my piercer told me(clean twice a day with q-tips with salt water and dont move it) so i seriously have no idea what’s wrong with it😭😭😭
Hi, I went to a piercing shop to get my Helix pierced, he used the stainless steel needle but he put in a regular piercing earring with the butterfly backing in my ear. It's been 2 months since I had it done, I want to know should I take it out and replace it with surgical steel hoop ring. I have done the sea salt soak like you said it's healing pretty good, so I just need to know should I leave it in for another month or exchange it? I think you for your videos they are helping me a lot with my piercings.
Someone please help and reply I’ve had my cartilage done well over a year and I would twist it now and then so it doesn’t get stuck anyway it started to get a bump but I have sorted that out now and it’s going down but do I need to twist my cartilage piercing like ever? Will if ever get stuck I don’t know what to do
jungllekook Do not twist your piercings!! Twisting your piercings will damage the tissue inside, even though it’s been a year you should still clean your piercing with lukewarm saline solution, the warm salt water will make sure your piercing doesn’t get stuck, also try not to touch your piercing so much as that will agitate it. Clean your piercing with cotton buds and clean hands. Also those ‘bumps’ are called keloids and they can be reduced with diluted tea tree oil. Currently I have lobes, double lobes, Helix, Rook, Conch, Navel & Daith and I’ve found my piercings do best when not twisted or moved and cleaned every day despite some of my piercings being over 5 years old. Hope that clears some stuff up :)
Hey! I have a question, after making the saline solution, how long is it good for? Does it have to be stored in room temperature or can I store it in the fridge?
Do you have any tips on how to fully clean a cartilage piercing with a butterfly back (sigh) & small sized? I think it's a 5/16 mm so it's hard for it to breathe a little :/
Thank you or the info, mine just got a bump after one and a half month... what do you think about that aspirin paste that people are recommending on youtube?
With getting a double or triple outer cartilage piercing, does the weight of the ones above the ones on the bottom make the healing process go slower? :)
Hi, I wanted to ask a question, does the snug piercing pass through the back of the rear, where you can see the jewellery? or is it all under the skin?
I want to change the initial earring stud I was pierced with for a hoop, but do I have to wait 2-3 months until I'm able to change the initial piercing?
Just got my cartilage piercing 4 days ago and there's a lot of dried blood stuck at the back. Should I get rid of it using a Q tip with solution? Or just let it be?
I've had my double helix for 2 years. Never healed and so painful... I finally got so discouraged I took it out. Super pissed. And after everything I went through to maintain them, now have giant keloids and closed up holes. My heart is broken 💔 😭
I got my cartilage pierced five weeks ago. And I guess it's starting to swell. My worry now is I guess I got the wrong studs. Mine has a clip kind of lock at the back. Not the screw one. And I think it's too short no room for it to heal. What should I do? Can I change it to a longer one?
I did my cartilage piercing like 1 week ago and today my ear started to swollen .. is a bit red and when u touch that part it’s “ burning “ ( probably today I’ve touched it as well a lot without realizing and my hand was dirty ) ... - sadly Anyway , betadine I think will be enough to clean it .. Any suggestions?
3 days ago i got my cartlidge peircing, its is still normal for it to still be painful, red, and swollen. I took it out but i want to put it back in. I don't know what to do.
