How Long Should You Strength Train?
Hey Powerbuilders, it’s Coach Gary! The optimum workout length depends on your goals, experience, and intensity. Whether it’s 30, 45, or 60 minutes, here’s how each can be effective:
30-Minute Workouts
Great for those with busy schedules. Focus on high-intensity compound exercises and short rest periods to maximize efficiency.
Best for:
• Busy individuals maintaining fitness.
• Intermediate/advanced lifters pushing hard.
• Quick, efficient fat loss and strength gains.
45-Minute Workouts
A balanced approach that allows for compound and isolation movements with moderate rest periods and proper form.
Best for:
• Most lifters aiming for balanced growth.
• Time for warm-up, accessory work, and muscle targeting.
• Those looking for quality without rushing.
60-Minute Workouts
Perfect for advanced lifters targeting hypertrophy or strength with longer rest and more volume.
Best for:
• Experienced lifters with specific goals.
• Longer sessions for mobility, core, and accessory work.
• Those lifting heavy and needing longer rest.
Which is Best?
For most, 45 minutes hits the sweet spot: enough time for a solid, effective workout without sacrificing intensity. However, adjust to your goals-shorter for efficiency, longer for complexity.
