Chris the angle at that time was what the gym had to work with. You can adjust the depth of your squat with different boxes for certain. There is usually a strength curve at 15-30 degrees lower than that spot where you are still benefiting from what ever level you are stopping at. And if you squat often its ok to go to different levels to allow your body to not get as beat up. But I am a champion of the ATG squat or full range of motion in a regular setting. hope this helps.
@@DerekWhite-u5j to be honest with you buddy I don’t really do them. So I honestly don’t recall but if I had to say 80 to 100 pounds would be about right. Maybe as high as 120 lbs
Thanks buddy I was doing about that in high school as well, so you have a great shot at this. I am 44 yrs now and still trying to keep this strength. lol
This video guive us one of the best advices about equipment proper uses... I can,t believe that there,s only 18 likes.... it Should be deserve More than that...
This specific exercise has helped me kickstart my bench gains after a 2 years of stalling. I do a couple of sets after my main bench, keeping the same weight. I use the block to keep the focus on triceps and allows me to keep the weight heavy.

@@GaryMillerFitness Good deal. I love to know people want to catch, motivates me to do more. You are doing great though. You have great control, one of the big keys to doing heavy weights. I always tell my spotters not to worry because I can always lower it to my chest and we can get help. Control.
gotta love the slingshot. I also bought a bench daddy and it sits higher up on my arms. They both are great to prep the CNS for heavy loads. Keep killing it!
Inch by inch. LOL!!! Well the 560s are not a sticking point anymore. I am in the 570s regularly now. I have not tried 585 again, and probably won't until I am sure I can get it again. I have been doing sets with 605 and 635 in my overloading with my slingshot and bench daddy. Inch by inch. LOL!!
I am glad you mentioned blood flow. Have you ever tried occlusion training (blood flow restriction training) . I use my wraps and basically put a tournaquet above my bicep to restrict the blood flow. Then do triceps with a lower weight then I usually use and so sets of 15 with a 15-30 second break between and pump the blood up, then release it after 4 completed reps and the built up blood floods the area. It actually seems to be helping. One of the trainers at my powerlifting gym suggested it.
I have a pretty narrow grip for a 350 pound guy and am a tricep bencher, but I was curious why the block and why not go all the way down to your chest for this movement?
Amazing one! Thanks for sharing this valuable info! Hope I can create a video as great as this one day! Thank you! Have a wonderful day and hope you have a great day too! I am hoping to show my transformation soon!
hey brother I assume you mean at the top of the rep so to answer your question my arms were feeling so pumped from the reps that it felt like a full contraction. But you are right if you can go higher get more ROM if you can. I really try to make sure I get the stretch at the bottom to let as much blood flow in it. So I think that's why I shorted the reps because they felt full as hell. Also I try not to come to high up because I do not want to engage the anterior deltoid. Hope this helps.
No, I was just curious. I am trying to get to my goal of 600 raw bench before I turn 56 in April and am looking for any trick I can to get there. I am at 585lbs now and these last 15 pounds are a bugger. I pin my elbows to my side when I curl, but thought there was some benefit that I did not know about. Kind of like I do a lot of Spoto presses and keep the bottom end of my bench extremely tight like a slingshot.
I do a heavy bench day and a volume bench day. Is that similar to what you are saying? I enjoy your bench form and barely touching your chest. Constant tension. I am a firm believer in it. Shooting for a 600 pound bench at 55 years old. Hopefully
Kole thanks you for the complements. I am using a Juggernaut system right now so I only bench 1 time per week. To be honest I have found for me I get the best results only doing the lifts 1 time per week. However with this program the loads get heavier each week for 3 weeks then I deload 1 week. In week 3 I AMRAP each lift and I reset my numbers and percentages for the next month. So each month the challenge increase. Question are you a geared or Raw bencher? 600 lbs is super impressive buddy!
i thought you weren't supposed to wrap the pinky because it can break. i need to know a simpler wrap than that for my bag. i don't want to get blood on the gym's bag here at my apartments, but i usually hit on it so long that my knuckles start bleeding from the friction.
Wrap your hands and after you do that wear a boxing glove or MMA glove. Now you can extend your wrapping 1/2 inch pass your knuckles, that should eliminate any future issues too.
