Maybe Mario was the original character, but Nintendo remembered that Boos were in SMB3, SMW and SM64, and Mario was "Player 1" In both the adventures. So they made Luigi be "Player 1"
Ive only seen two videos so far but i just subscribed and hitting that bell for notifications i can tell based off just the two videos this one being the second that im gonna like it and want more and i never even played this game i just like stuff like this! XD
I think the reason why they scrapped Mario was because Luigi would be Player 1, and Mario would be Player 2. And as we know, such a thought is blasphemy.
Yea it would be very cool and it was unlocked after beating the game and if beat Mario Mode you unlock Mário and is able to play multiplayer and play as Mario
It would be cool if the title screen was "Mario's Mansion" and the game starts with Mario running to the Mansion during sunset. He runs around and of course gets trapped. The Camera zooms out from the Mansion and lighting occurs with the distant shouts from Mario. The title appears the same then a flash of lightning hits "Luigi's mansion" Is seen instead. The epilogue ends The screen goes black and the words Five hours later appear and the game starts with Luigi walking to the mansion.
Nintendo: *Releases SM64* Internet:So how do I unlock Luigi? Nintendo:Here *Luigi's Mansion* Internet:So how do I unlock Mario? Nintendo: *Makes SM64 DS* Internet:So how do I unlock WALUIGI?
I can't be the only one who loves how dark Luigi's Mansion is. Not in forefront but more how they added humanoid ghosts who explicitly died. I just always thought that was super cool and really creepy, especially when I was younger.
@@javiersoto6523 from the looks of it, 3 will bring portrait ghosts back. Or at least that's what it seems from the few humanoid-type ghosts we've seen.
@@transorm987 I never said they're bad games, they just cant keep up with the first one. And yes thanks God 3 is bringing portrait ghosts back, but it follows more dark moon atmosphere instead of a dark and creepy atmosphere like the first one
This is why I've been obsessed with this game since childhood. Almost 20 years later and it's still so mysterious. Had no idea the PAL version's hidden mansion was flipped!!
Nathan Gurtcheff I’m definitely the opposite, we’ve always had the flipped mode on the uk - I certainly hope you get to experience it yourself sometime, it really is fun having that extra challenge!
@@mr.vidjagamez9896 Yes, the 3DS remake has the PAL hidden mansion with some slight differences like no longer being flipped and not riding the poltergust during the Boolossus fight. It is still refreshingly challenging though if you're used to the regular mansion.
It took you 7minutes to say "we didn't know, we didn't have technology, we wanted to know, we stopped looking." Found myself very frustrated watching this. If the video had started 7m in, it would be an overall better watch. I felt like I basically learned nothing, and didn't want to finish the video. Idk how to be constructive about this, gl.
Welł he's giving a history of this mystery and how over time it progressed. If you're just looking for the solution, then yeah the rest of video is useless, but if you are like me and want more details then it's great.
@@PippyPipPip I enjoy history as well, this had very little to no substance. I can't recount details because I watched it almost a week ago now (i'm not re-watching it.) But my complaint was that it's very boring and felt like 7m could have been removed and the video would've improved.
Yeah this is my main complaint against this channel too. No matter how interesting or insignificant the topic of the video is it will always have multiple minutes of padding and filler scripted into it. It becomes very repetitive after a few videos, especially when a lot of it is just repeating the same sentiments over and over. A video about a few inaccessible coins can be interesting but it's not 9 minutes of interesting.
It's a bit like the concept of immersive sims, small in-game spaces by open world standards They're small, but dense with depth and detail. That explains it best IMO
I myself had a dream that Mario was playable in Luigi’s Mansion, only instead of sucking up ghosts, he could punch and kick them like in Super Mario 64.
Gamers: Luigi is really a sucky character. Also gamers: All right he has got to be in these game files somewhere. I'll find him and unlock him somehow.
Great video, but constantly repeating the same sentence in different ways just to stretch out the run time is maddeningly obnoxious. Same reason the History channel became an unwatchable mess
I'd seen a few comments saying the same thing. Repeating things with different wording, pretty much. This video could have been less than five minutes, honestly.
I always thought that Mario being playable or even a second player at all wasn't even thought of in the conception of the game. The marketing at least made me believe that they just wanted to make a game centering around Luigi to put him in the limelight. Nonetheless, very fascinating find.
Didn't even realize there was such a lively Luigi's Mansion community. Here I thought you were the only one who truly cared about its hidden content the whole time. Love that this is playable with a mod now as such.
I have a theory; There was originally gonna be a flashback cutscene/realtime render of mario trying to catch the ghosts but king boo got him. Possibly during the fortune tellers info bites. They probably dropped them as it would be a lot of work for something that would ruin the reward of getting the first GC render on mario in the ending.
I love this kinds of things, discovering things in old games I mean. Remember how it took for people to finally figure out "The 10th enemy has the bomb."? That was discovered in (I think 2012) that's ~25 years, a quarter of a century, after the game was released.
I'm pretty sure that's leftover footage from the video when they put Luigi's Mansion's map into Super Mario Galaxy 2 (I'll assume it's 2 [I can't remember lol] because I don't think Yoshi was in the first game).
This really brings a lot of things to light with consoles and their closed nature. If this was primarily a PC game, it would have been cracked wide open within days, and we could have had a working coop mod likely within a few weeks of release.
@Splatoon is the worst game of all time. when something Splatoon related pops up in a video Splatoon fans make a joke. Can we just not be the internet and care about each other
just because some fans are annoying doesn't make it cool to be an asshole to all fans. i say this as someone who is often annoyed by jojo fans. you're worse.
Huh didn't know the map was that small... It seemed so much bigger when I played it as a kid. It now reminds me of like a rated E Resident Evil and I love that about the game, I hope they keep that vibe in the upcoming one.
I think luigi's mansion origanal storyline was mario and luigi see king boo capture peach in a painting and take her to the mansion. They go inside without a second thought and meet egad. They then beat king boo and save peach, and everyone is happy, the end. I also think that Luigi's "Mario?" Call was meant as an in-game call to player 2, and mario had a call like "Luigi?" To call player 1.
One of the few things I've heard about unused content in Luigi's mansion is there's a PNG of daisy from the first mario tennis somewhere in the files The current theories say it was most likely a place holder and/or Luigi was originally going to save daisy instead of mario Which fits in nicely with marioB and the scrapped multiplayer
JMGO It’s Luigi’s hair standing up from Luigi’s scared animation. His model changed expression but his hat stayed on and he didn’t jump up. He probably behaved oddly because of the buggy nature of the multiplayer.
Swankybox, I have a theory... what if "L is real 24 01", was in reference to the release of this game? Hear me out... this game was released in Japan on September 14th 2001: 9 (month) + 14 (day) = 23 The year it was released was 01 Maybe the original goal was to release the game in October 14, 2001, but it was released a month sooner... Or even 23 (month and day) + 01 (year) = 24 with L (Luigi) as player 1 (01) with the zero implying that the original player 1 (Mario) was absent? 🤔
LMFinish's Channel I really want the modding engine to be as easy to make as Super Mario 64! I want people to make mods on luigi’s mansion. Imagine a darker version of LM
I kinda really hope they do an HD port of this game to the Switch that includes the two player split screen unlocked with the upgraded mansion and finally gives the PAL version to all regions.
Alternate plot: Peach's summer house needed ghost busters so she got Mario and Luigi on the job with the reward of Mario getting a kiss and Luigi getting one of his ghost busting service cards sent to Daisy
That's pretty cool that they considered multiplayer and split screen. And it's even better when you realize that they used these exact same mechanics for Gooigi (idk how to spell his name)
If the file exists on all regions that means Mario was probably used before luigi during development because he has no facial animations, which is something you would do after developing the gameplay mechanics. You would basically use a static rig and code the game around it until it comes time to polish by inserting additional animations. Multiplayer also supports this idea. Luigi's model is more refined like he was touched up during late development. It may also be possible that they used mario during the proof of concept stage when pitching the idea and then forgot to remove him, or like I said above.. developed the game primarily with his model only to replace it with a refined Luigi model..
First video game I ever played. I first started playing when I was 5 or six, I'm 20 now and although I've beaten it over 50 times, there's always some new mystery to discover.
Why when people discover things like this, it just amazes me so much? It’s just beautiful, the game we’ve been playing, it has a lot more than we think it does. So far this video has amazed me, like wow. Luigi’s mansion was being made for two players. I love these videos.
Amazing. To think that after all this time, the fan's desire to have a multiplayer mode in Luigi's Mansion was shared by the devs. I have to wonder, If Luigi's Mansion came out a month, two months later than it did... Would we have had a fully fleshed out Multiplayer mode? Weird.
