How Manual Transmissions Work! (Animation) 

I am a mechanical engineer, I must say they should have just showed us your videos instead of wasting many many hours of us in university anyone with any level of education can understand your vids, you got yourself one more subscriber, you are great bro :)

This is how an animation should be! calmly and thoroughly explaining what's happening and also taking in the sidetracks. With six other videos I only had a global idea of how a clutch works, and in this video 5 minutes was enough! Thank you, and please(!), for the sake of engineering, keep up the good work!

Your animation is totally awesome and I've never seen it explained this well. The only improvement I could think of would have been to give the dog clutch some pattern to make it more apparent that the dog clutch is a piece of tube that rotates with the cogs on the output axle.

Thank you! - that was by far the best description of how a manual gearbox works I've seen so far; most other descriptions fail to note that the output shaft is engaged by the dog... :)

I spent days and hours in youtube and Technical College, I graduated and I wasn't understanding how the best transmission works, now I understand how it works and I will not buy a car if it's not manual, or at least buy an automatic and replace the transmission and put on a manual. Fantastic video, been looking for one that describes how both the clutch plate and the transmission work together and this is the first one I've found.

Very good. You are the first to explain the H pattern of a gearshift I have seen. I don't think motorcycle gearboxes work like this though.

So this is how manual transmissions work! I've always wanted to now it. Seen a couple videos not long ago but yours was the first and only that managed to explain it better and with more details. Especially how the gear lever works. The others didn't mention it and I was wondering it, also. It's actually simplier than I imagined! Thanks man! :D Only thing that I think is missing from this explanation is how the reverse gear works. I imagine it's the exact same as the other gears, but with the dents "printed" in the opposite direction as the others.

Very simply but effectively explained. More detail is needed to explain how the synchromesh itself works, as that's a bit of complex work and could probably warrant it's own video, but very good detailing what was talked about here. Well done.
