I agree, but if I was in the head of the love interest I wouldn't like him either. I think it's just cause most are in first person so your up close and personal with the fmc and so anything insufferable that they do you can't get away from.

@@fallenashes I get it. mostly I just think that annoying mmcs can be balanced out by the fmcs, but the same isn't done the other way around. my critique is mostly around that

@@juliacintrae I completely agree, I think its fine not to like a character because they just aren't the kind of person you would like in real life, but I think a lot of times people hide behind 'I dont like the character' when actually its an issue with them being hypercritical of FEMALE characters specifically. For example, I don't like Nesta, she isn't my favourite character in the SJM backlog if anything she's my least favourite character and I was actually kind of triggered by her and specifically how abusive she was to those around her (my opinion). However, I hands down think that she is the BEST character SJM has ever written because of how complex she is, because her actions are kind of ugly for the majority of the time we know her in all the ACOTAR books. Trauma and mental health are messy and can be very ugly and I loved that SJM was showing that. I thoroughly enjoyed Nest's book and her character development, and the inner workings of her mind. Did I like her? No. Were we supposed to? I don't necessarily think so, I think we were supposed to understand and sympathise with her but not agree with her behaviour and actions, I think the testament to the fact she's a fantastic character and very complex is all the complex feelings she brought out of all the readers and how no one seems to agree about her. Did I need to like her to enjoy and appreciate her story? also no. My dislike of her was purely because she wasn't someone I would like in real life, regardless of her gender, because I've literally had a Nesta in my life. But a lot of the arguments against Nesta that I see are very shallow, just like a lot of the arguments made about any and all female characters are shallow. When compared to male love interest people are very unforgiving of FMC's and make no complaints about their often less developed love interests, even when you get both POVs and are in the guys head too.

I agree! Book lovers was very boring to me and just blah But I loved!! Funny Story Thought it was amazing Also I’m from Michigan which made it extra special
