How Many Fault Codes Can I Find With My New Xtool D7 Auto Scan Tool 

Dave I give you a lot of credit for tackling using the scanner for finding what’s wrong with the vehicles I don’t think I’d have the patience for figuring out how to work them!!!!

Just had one of these delivered. Have to admit... amongst the many reasons we purchased one, was to program the immobilizer for a new key on a 2008 Honda Accord, so I was anxious to see if that worked (which it did). Also, we noticed the same thing... there always seems to be faults, despite many of them not being severe enough to trigger the "check engine" light.

So much to learn your doing it but it’s giving me a headache thinking about you doing it!!!LOL!!!!!

Dave, I've spoken to you before about my Nova kit car here in Scotland (equivalent to the 'Sterling' kit car in the States and possibly also in Canada?) .... she's based on a VW Beetle and has no PS, no ABS, no GPS, no airbags, no Stop Start, no central locking, no electric windows, no air conditioning, no OBD2 port ..... and do you know what? .... she has No Problems! ;)

For Chrysler vehicles with the security gateway module you will need an addition cable tye you plug into the module. It is called the 12 plus 2 cable from XTool Direct. The gateway us preventing the true information. The cable is also available on Amazon

Three weeks later. It doesn't work yet on my 2005 Corsa C/ Opel Tigra Twintop with Ecotec Z14XEP engine. I say "yet" because after pushing two "fixes" they wrote again today saying their engineers are sending the problem up to higher engineers.

I just bought one of these - it hasn't arrived yet. But I kinda work the way you did... Just jump in the car or truck and see what shows up! By the way, on sale on AMZ for 20% off as of yesterday. May still be there, instant coupon thing. Under US$400.

I use the OBDLink MX+ for my RAM and Alfa OBD on my Handy and you can do anything with this.

Chrysler has always been the odd one out with their CAN and generic scantools like Autel and XTool, compared to Ford or GM, which these tools usually have no issue with. Were you able to perform any special functions under Global OBDII and Chysler Enhanced? I may be wrong but generic scan tools start working around 2011 Dodge, with 2018-2019 being the year you need to buy the Security Gateway for Dodge.

Anyone know what that little black tape on the upper right corner of the screen is for? Pulling on it does nothing, I thought its for removing the plastic protective screen. Got this one when the price was dropped plus don't trust my local mechanic charged me $170 for diagnostic by resetting the fault code tell me to tighten the gas cap. Next day the check engine light came back, $170 non refundable. Had to go to another mechanic to get it fixed for $500. The D7 will be cheap if I could solve just one problem since shop rate here in CA is something like $200/hour. All my cars have fault codes, for now in the D7 learning process. TPMS sensor - It might just be a case where the signal was out of range when the wheels were off for whatever reason. Probably worth clearing and see if the error returns. Might be worth capturing the TPMS ID # before clearing. Just bought the D7 myself. I like it. EDIT: I thought you were in Scotland so snow tires probably arent needed....but I see you are in Canada. Cheers.

4:00 Start the engine. What if you can't start the engine? I got this thing precisely to find out why the engine won't start. Two cheaper tools told me nothing.

btw, my home network blocks internet traffic from China (amongst other countries), and I had to remove that block to get my D7 to activate and update.

Do you know if the D7 can program an all-keys-lost (no keys!) for a USA 2000 Lexus RX300? Yes, I've contacted XTool a few days ago, but I have not received a reply. Time is of the essence, to I'm checking all avenues.

Where do you find tech support? I called the customer service number and only get a VM.

Be careful what you program as you can do some damage if not careful.

Do not bye the Xtool mine is not even a year old it died I opened it to see what was wrong they sold me a repaired unit not a brand new one it still had the Chinese paper on it when I bought it if you don't believe me go to my RU-vid and you'll see pictures of what they sent me and it only has a 30 day return policy no warranty
