Do you have a background in food? Your creativity and skill is ridiculous. Also love your positive outlook and how everything is delicious! Very refreshing when everyone seems to be super self-deprecating these days.
I’m trying to keep positive - out of work right now and luckily these keep me going! And actually, no, no background in food. Was very keen in watching my Dad cooking growing up and the rest is a combination of watching vast amounts of cooking shows, RU-vidrs and cookery books. :)
I think you did a great job with what you were given. Very creative! I’d like to see this become a mini series and for the grand finale get one surprise bag from each of the stores that you tried one from and combine all the ingredients to see how long you can go.
@@SamWilder. so cool! have you watched any of atomic shrimp’s budget challenges? your creativity reminds me a lot of how out of the box some of his stuff can be (maybe even more out of the box!)
@@Emma-cq3dx Yeah, I completely disagree with veganism but vegetables and fruit ARE an important part of the diet and are supposed to make up around half of our food intake, and are really nice if you cook them correctly
Hey man I really like how your channel is going! Your creativity for these things is amazing. Its refreshing to see you not just sticking with exactly whats in the boxes/deals and rather using them in creative ways with other ingredients instead.
That was a great bag and it was well used, my experience with Morrisons is you get a lot of bread so it would be good to see what you get in a different store 😀
Very glad that RU-vid recommended your channel. I love these random food challenges etc. keep going and you’ll go far, trust me. Hopefully you get enough subscribers and views before you get another job! 🎉😂
Heyy, just started watching you and honestly this very helpful! After being unemployed for the past few months it's good to see these. I always love cooking and love learning new recipes. What is your favourite meal you can make for under £5?
Oooh that’s a tough question! Off the top of my head, you can’t beat a good lasagne, and if you’re clever (limit the cheese for example), you can definitely make it for under £5. Freezes well too. If we’re going by from these videos - the chicken pitta I made in my most recent Waitrose video was great - so much so we literally just had it for dinner tonight too 😂😅
@@SamWilder. Oooooh true. There is nothing better than a homemade lasagne god I'm going to have to make one just thinking about it. That chicken in pitta looked great looks like it was packed with flavour. Sorry another question but I'm always curious. What is your favourite treat meal you have? I think mine would doing my own stir fry
@@TheFreckledGECKO ooooh it’s actually probably one Carolina makes - she does an amazing sweet and sour chicken and rice from scratch. Breaded chicken bites, homemade sauce, it’s sooo lovely 🥰
Great video! I love to see grocery/supermarket bags from TGTG (there's only so much variety you can get from Greggs or Costa!), and especially love to see how they're used. You have a very watchable editing/recording style too. Would love to see more of these kinds of videos.
Love the flowers 💐 Try sautéing slices of the red cabbage. Very creative recipe with the braised cabbage✔️ The bread for breakfast, toasties and pasta salad for lunch you will not starve. Great bag. Good video and do further bags 💼
OK, at the risk of showing my age.... this show and format blew me back to the 90's ch4 show "Get Stuffed" loving the vibe of your show.... and now I feel old lol
I swear, cabbage just grows & grows! Amazing food on a budget. I’m in the US, I would LOVE Aldi to have Surprise bags. Here the food goes to local food banks. (That’s great, but I would love a swipe at cheap food). A lot of food there!
I expect you could use the probiotic drink to flavour some type of muffins or buns. Maybe the prebiotic organisms might function sort of like a yeast if mixed into flour or oatmeal & put in a warm place for a few hours? Worth an experiment anyway.
I've watched a few videos of your and just assumed you would have alot more subscribers, you definitely deserve more recognition. Anyway new subscriber here, can't wait for more videos ❤
Had no idea Aldi did this, definitely going to try a surprise bag myself! For the faux Yakult, you could put it in smoothies, also can be quite sweet, so maybe summer oats and eliminate other sweetening options.
Use by dates. Someone I once knew was throwing some ham out because the use by date was the day before. It was morning, about 9 the day after use by date. I asked her if she would have eaten this up just before midnight yesterday? She said yes so I said did the ham suddenly go off the second it was midnight?
Great video and that was a really decent Too Good To Go bag, I joined a group on FB where people share what they get and some are absolutely dire. It'd be great to see a series of these type of Too Good To Go videos, making the most of what you get from the bags. I look at the app wistfully sometimes before I remember I'm too chicken to get one 😂
If it's a really bad bag (mouldy or not the value advertised) TGTG usually refund you if you contact them. They're hit and miss but good fun and can be mega bargains
What causes the anxiety? Hope you're able to get past it. I buy 2good2go for a couple of years now and i like it a lot. My main motivation is decreasing food waste, but saving money is a gladly welcomed extra benefit. I particularly like the bread box from my favorite organic store. Highly recommend to just try it once, i felt a bit awkward too the first time but nobody is gonna look at you in a weird way. Happy i pushed myself beyond my comfortzone. 100% no regrets, love it! Hope you will too in the (near) future.
I like the Surprise Bag idea. Wish more stores here did that. It'd be even better if they thought about doing a cohesive meal! A starch, a veg, a protein. Folks slay me with the "will it kill me?" USE YOUR NOSES, PEOPLE. LOL. We did that forever before the 2000s. The sell-by date is not the use-by date, and the best-by date is really just marketing faff! Hey, Mexican food uses cabbage, too! Remember that most of the popular Mexican food is just what people cook when their finances & resources limited, even by geography. They often will do their own flavorings with ingredients that are local.
They might not be coherent to make a standard meal, but they do inspire to think outside of the box, look at what you have left in your house and make something/try something you might not have thought of before. And ofcourse, save you money. I mean, you made 6 meals for 2 people. That would be 12 meals for 1 person. Not bad for that price. Maybe it is an option to get 1 bag from each of the stores you mentioned and see what you can make with that? Best of luck🍀
Pretty insane deal! Where I'm from even if the flowers were about to cark it, I'd be charged at least double just for them. Obviously some people get trash from this Aldi deal but it's well worth it
I don't think we have Aldi surprise bags in Sydney. They put any items that can't be sold marked down with a special sticker. However at Coles and Woolworths they usually mark stuff down then put all the mark down products in a section especially refrigerated products. Other products they put on special clearance shelves. There is a group of thirty shoppers that actually hunt down the daily or weekly markdown grocery clerk just so they can get first dibs on any or all of the mark down grocery items. I even spotted one man who even went Coles to Coles hunting down the mark down grocery clerk at each supermarket. I myself always look through the clearance shelves or bins because there are usually test products on sale that are not expired but limited edition items that may or may not have been a hit with customers such as tiamisu malteasers for well under $2 a bag . Meat such as beef and lamb has a use by date on them and are marked down a few days before they expire but are still OK to eat after the usedby date by a few days but never eat used by poultry. Fruit and veg there is an imperfects section which I also like because the fruit is fine just ugly and not meet size or shape or colour requirements of supermarkets - favourite is limes
It really annoys me when you get people like you producing really decent content (12k views in 1 day) and you only have 4K subs Love your videos ❤️👍🏼👌🏼
What can you make from 14 bags of spouts. My sister managed to get a box and the manager said sorry before bringing out the box. since then the shop has put up no bags again. Many of the bags have not been that good some places, are just taking the p. with there bags. And the items can be items NOT going OOD. but on promotion. I once paid £2 to get 2 bags of crisps. I have been put off getting others. I would buy the tray bake with 50% and 75% off items to try them. Today i got some packets of sweets for 14p just off the reduced price shelves. it can be for many places just get yellow ticket items of YOUR choice and spend less then a TGTG bag.
Some advice based on a few years buying 2good2go. If you stick with boxes that have a rating of at least 4 stars you're usualy get good boxes. Don't get boxes that don't have a rating at all, they are usualy not great. If you are a picky eater or have dietary restrictions 2good2go might not be for you though. Some space to freeze stuff till later is very practical too.
I have not heard of the suprise bags at all How does it work ? I have a Aldi at the bottom of my street so I shop there regularly, for the special offers, and am always on the lookout for the 50%/75% stickers in the fresh food isles but after watching this video, I think I would like to try a suprise bag , my sister is a vegetarian so it's great that your bag contains, so much veg So how do I get started ?
@@SamWilder. thank you, for replying so quickly, to my question I was not expecting an answer that quickly, I will Google the app straight away, to see how it works
