Leigh, thank you for coming up with this information, I can confess that. My wife had hiv without her knowing it. And I stayed with her for 3 years before knowing it. When she got pregnant we went to hospital for checkups and that’s how we got to know about it. We had all rough sex, bloody one…But I’m negative! she’s on her medication now and happily together. It’s 5 years now😊
@@001betguru its very true.. I couldn’t believe it for a full year after discovering it that I’m negative. But it’s 5 years and she’s undetectable now with a healthy child 🧒
@@neox9369Just go tested! Thats the only way to knw Sir. Trust me, the anxiety over the thought of having it will be built up over time. I really didnt have a reason to check for HIV and didnt think I even had it but the doctor wanted to rule it out. The moment she mentioned she was going to test me for HIV my anxiety was through the roof until she called and told me I am STD clean including HIV negative. She tested me for all of them. Just go get tested, thats the only way to know. I HOPE you do NOT have it and wish you well! Wrap it before you tap it lol
Thank you Jen for your advocacy. People are so ignorant but with some research and knowledge maybe in the not too distant future they can start to realise facts and stop fear mongering. Love your podcasts, you are a cool lady ❤ keep being you x
My mind keeps going back to the magic Johnson situation, because that happened when I was a small child. I think he blamed a prostitute because he didn't want the world to discriminate that he was black, he was married, he had HIV, AND he was having sex with men.
@@DG-oy2fk I'm pretty sure the NBA test for drugs and steroids, unless he learned how to cheat all that. I think was doing what a lot of liars do, tell half truths.
That person who made that comment to you was so rude. It’s not anyone’s question to ask . I’m old school and I feel that comment was so inappropriate for her to make.
It’s actually really difficult for a man who is circumcised, heterosexual, and a non iv drug user to contract HIV from a woman. Please take a science class.
I've been watching The Rainbow Project videos about the early years of AIDS. Those women who got it from a bisexual man and then married never transmitted to the husband.
I wouldn't even trip if you gave me that crap as long as we were going to stay together and take care of each other...is that weird? Idk maybe but we are talking abt the amazing YOU❤
I totally appreciate the sentiment, but it’s stated in a way that makes it sound like you believe you can get it and you literally can’t. Thanks for the love though 💗
That's a fallacy to say that women rarely transmit hiv. If a woman is on her period and there is blood flow and you play match. There are high chances of transmission.
There actually isn’t. It’s been proven through studies that there is LESS viral particles in menstrual blood than vaginal fluids and neither compare to what is in semen. Again, the fluid that a women makes doesn’t go through penile skin. You are wrong. Sorry.
Leigh, awesome content. No hate. Legit question. Is anal sex between a positive female who is not treated and a man considered high risk? Just asking because gay anal sex is considered high risk. Thanks
Great point ! I would imagine yes it is. Vaginal sex has less bloodstream transmission. And anal sex, because of "micro-fissures" does have this direct blood stream exchange. So I would say yes, anal is more risky regardless of whether its a man or women. More so a man just because of stats right. More men have HIV so of course riskier anal with man. - But more risky anal with a woman than vaginal. But, good to remember not all gay people do anal. Handjobs, oral (can still get it that way but less likely), and frottage all good safer options for men who have sex with men. And some straight ppl do have anal. But especially with really young gay men, especially when alcohol or drugs involved. To be urged to refrain from anal and do those other options. Until they date the person for a while or are older or sober, and still wear a condom and do PrEP. No glove = No love.
@Sleepmalice Direct contact with blood and the other person’s bloodstream. Not just contact with their blood. It’s very specific. I don’t think people understand that.
Hun, please do some more digging into the claim that your infector gave the clinic your number. If true it is criminal negligence that you were not contacted.
It’s been 8 years and we did and there was nothing we could do. We did contact a lawyer, but at the end of the day it’s my (and everyone else’s) responsibility to test. It’s not their fault.
Plus Eric has nothing financially to go after and I don’t live my life looking for a way to sue people. It’s in the past and I’m fine, there would be no point. 👍❤️
@@Pozleighyou only take this live and let live position now because you are the same as “Eric” now and don’t want people coming after you for knowingly exposing them without their consent lol.
👏 The sad part is that the CONDOMS message has been weakened over the last decade. People forget that PrEP is an add-on option (especially receptive men, i.v. users, even women who like a lot of anal sex. Probably not ones who just do vaginal). An Add-on, and NOT a substitution for condo s.
Plus, you got people out there having unprotected sex, while knowing they have aids, and NOT warning that person of their HIV positive diagnosis. Thats another issue……what kind of crappy person do you have to be to have unprotected s*x with men, KNOWING YOU HAVE AIDS, and NOT warning that person before you have s*x with him! Shameful!!!!
Can someone help please? Can i stop to make tests? A Lot of fast tests, 90 days i made 4 generation, with 180 days i made 4 generation with PCR NAAT, can i stop? Please im tired
He did NOT get it from a girl. 🤦♀️ Do you know the probability of a female giving HIV to a man, it’s nearly impossible. He told people the safe thing, he blamed it on a woman.
Hi @leigh my gf and i tested for Hiv western blot test n we both tested negative. Is there anything we should be concern please do let me know, thank you!!!!!!!
Hi Leigh! First of all thanks you for your amazing videos! Very helpful! Last week I had sex with a sex worker in a brothel . Unfortunately after 1 minute a realised that the condom broke completely. I asked her if she was clean, she told me to don’t be worry about it also because she just start that job few months ago and always use condom with her clients. Now I’m freaking out of a possibility of getting HIV. I have a partner and so scare to pass it to her! What’s are the possibilities that I got HIV from that lady in the brother? I stated PEP the day after, should I keep take it for 28 days? The doctor just gave it to me because I was freaking out. I shouldn’t go with an escort while being in a relationship I know! I’m feel shit and I’ll probably tell my girlfriend and face the consequences
This does speak to the types of relations that do contract and spread the disease via intercourse. Pointing that fact out would label one as an ignorant phobe.
@@zackycardozo9312 so if u sleep with her unprotected the percentage of you contracting it isn't 100%? Or it's as long as she take her meds and etc it lowers the chances? I'm just intrigued and love to learn so I can know and teach things to my children with hardcore facts. and so on...
With the medications that they have now people are living normal lives. They're viral load becomes undetectable there's not even a positive HIV test anymore you do still technically have it but it's pretty miraculous how far they've come
Hey because I try to cure people of hiv can you answer, Hey does the hiv aids test, test if your on hiv aids medication so no false positive happens I need to know why do I think someone is going to lie to someone about having hiv aids and using a psychward ‘law’
Aw. You're gorgeous. Probably could* get 100s ! ;-) Anyways, remember the ones who admire you and the positivity. Not the haters. YET. Also, Lets not get too caught up in sex (male vs female). Regardless - whether you're a male or female and who gives what to whom. What about all the many men who did not know their diagnosis. Who made mistakes with drugs or alcohol and wasn't making good decisons. Those with sexual addictions. Etc. I DO applaud 👏 fiercly your giving women a voice which is definitely needed. But also don't know if people may misconstrue the message as men being more "culpable". 🤔 What if a women were addicted to heroin and shared needles with male partner? Should we bash her for being an addict and accidentally transmitting. Reardless of gender. Or is it better to coax her to treatment and get her clean and on Rx treatment etc ? I do know addictions (of all kinds) afflict many in the gay community and this makes susceptible to transmission. Yet, is the name of the game blame, or intervention and prevention? Sorry so long. Just basically agree with you. But also think this whole blame game, of anyone, can be counterprodictive to the aim of the game: prevention, treatment, etc
@Pozleigh This is true. It could have just been my own misinterpretation. I mean, what you said tho is pertinent information to both women & men (receptive). Both men and women should make* their male partners wear condoms. Every time. No exceptions. I feel like the drumbeat of "wear a condom" and no glove = no love has really faded and needs revival. Especially in the minds of receptive partners, particularly anal sex. Even while on PrEP. And the porn industry should be mandated to force actors to wear them. OSHA workplace safety. Anyways. Yes this is the correct science, you're right. Thank you for your diligent and commendable efforts @ giving women a voice, especially since they account for such a small % of cases - the work you do I'm sure goes a long way to creating that much needed support system for women, so they don't feel as alone. Know what good you are doing in the world. ❤️ 💙 💜
@Pozleigh You know. Actually. Have you considered creating/hosting an online support group for women who have HIV, - as well as other chronic conditions etc? You seem like a very outgoing figure that could really be that role model and heroine to lead one. 🤔
@TwinFalls88 Yes, I have one. It’s on Facebook, created it in 2017. About 250 members, all HIV+ women from all over the world. I don’t advertise to keep the imposters away. There is a vetting process to be accepted. It’s very private and secret to protect the anonymity of its members.
